Tennessee database shows 15,000 gun permits in Hamilton County

Recommended Posts

So I wondered what a "CA lookup" was.... now I'm wishing I didn't because I believe you were referring to this:

http://www.commercialappeal.com/data/gunpermits/

I'm new around here, so I'm sure this already been debated to death.... but I'm a little shocked that it exists.

At least it's nice that the article includes a link to the HCP application page of the TN Department of Safety.

FYI, there is currently a bill in the State legislature that may put a stop to allowing public access (i.e. newpapers for one) to the HCP records.  Ramsey is stalling on it.  Contacts your reps and make you opinion know.

The bill is HB 0009/SB 0108.

This is a totally inappropriate statement at the bottom of the article. ....

"For all we know, they could be coming from some of these folks out there in the suburbs with handgun permits," he said.

This is in reference to the 9 shootings that have already happened behind enemy lines in Chattanooga so far this year. Also, this statement was made after the shootings were for the most part labeled as gang related.

Wow, I was just thinking the same thing... take pure conjecture and tag it as the article closing. No refuting, no supporting evidence, nothing. That's a real chicken-$h*t way to close an article.

Of course, one must consider the publishing/editing source, and then it all makes sense.

DOA, Lt. Gov. Ramsey says we need the ability for the average person to have access so that they can do the job that the FBI, TBI and Local LE can't or will not do, even thought we pay them to do so.

It appears that the "times free press" doesn't want freedom of speech or they'd allow comments to be posted after that chicken s#!t way of ending an article.
