not good... another excuse for more "action"

Recommended Posts

Worried and what the left will think is the last thing on my mind when I read this.
I feel so bad for the 5 year old and the mental/ emotional scars that he will carry.
My prayers are with him and the family

I love the comments from people crying for the government to "legislate" responsibility. So if there is a law saying I have to keep my gun locked up that means I'll do it?

And people wonder why gun owners tire of the endless stupid legislation that politicians propose?

Laws seem not to have been a deterrent to drugs or speeding.

Horrible accident. I don't care how we'll you train a kid or trust their obedience, kids are kids. They lack mature judgement and make mistakes. The parents should never have left a gun (loaded or unloaded) in reach of a kid. The parents' punishment shall be their grief. I hope they're not charged (based on our limited info), and I hope other parents can learn from this tragedy.

This was a terrrible tragedy. I grew up around guns, but I'm pretty sure that I didn't get to use the 22 until I was maybe  10. Before that, it was the BB gun. Anyone here give their kids a gun at age five or get a gun as a kid at age five?  That just seems way too young to me.

Seems way to young to me sounds like the typical anti gun argument.

This event happened due to poor parenting.  Would the 2 year old be less dead had she drowned due to a pool with no gate,  or if she had been hit by a hammer?

You cannot legislate parental skills.

The number of the age doesn't matter. The maturity of the child and the ability of the parent to responsibly teach, guide and monitor their children is what matters. My child will be getting a .22 for their next birthday because I feel they are ready and I am ready to take on the responsibility of taking the next step in passing down the rights and responsibility of gun ownership and safety to my child.

It's not something to be taken lightly. Done correctly now there is a less likely chance of my child becoming any sort of statistic later. As was with me and my siblings, my father and his siblings before me and so on.

Another report I saw says a 12 year old shot his sister with a handgun while left home alone. This supposedly happened Saturday.
