Call HeroGear down in Winchester. They have a new gunsmith that can arrange an appointment for you to come down and build your gun. They also have the parts necessary to complete it. Good folk down there. Tell them what you want to do and what you need and they will schedule you an appointment.

I made the trip to Hero Gear just the other day. Joe really took a whole lot of time walking me through everything. It took a while, but I finally made a decision. I hope to have the upper within a few weeks.

I already had a general idea of what I wanted, but that hasn't made the process any easier. I've changed my mind about a million times. The fact that Joe and Hero Gear has such a nice inventory, I was able to actually put my hands on many options.

I'd suggest you make the trip as well.

Guys, we are actually talking about doing an AR building clinic.

The clinic would be free or at a very reduced cost, would take maybe 3 or 4 hours depending on the size, and would cover all aspects of building your lower or complete rifle.

I will update as this plan firms up

i was just down at hero gear today, had a question about tricking out my current AR and joe had no problem explaining my options and showing me what needs to be done to get the results i wanted.

That sounds great. I am planning on doing the pistol build, and would love a good class on installing the LPK. Please keep us posted.

I don't put on classes per se, but if someone in the Nashville area would like a small get together in Hermitage, I can do a basic build class. I custom build uppers and lowers for customers and have several years of experience.

I can also get into how uppers are put together along with installation of a free float installation.

One of the SBR uppers I built will be in a future edition of Guns and Weapons for Law Enforcement for a guy in E. Tennessee. I built an almost identical one for Dickson PD SWAT.

Feel free to holler at me with any questions. I am kinda restricted on time from 11 Aug until the end of the month due to military duty, but can set something up for interested parties. Make it a build type party/BBQ thing if that sounds good.

My wife is in GA for a year for her psych doctoral internship with the VA so I am usually sitting around staring at the Great Dane beast so I am up for a change of pace.

I don't know about anyone else, but I think some parts of written instructions for a build are tough to follow. Seeing someone else do it, and having someone to ask questions and get answers in the flesh would be great. I'm still waiting for my first build, so I think a class would be something I'd jump all over.

These offers are very generous and I hope something comes of them. I would love to attend a class like this. I am planning to go to a 2 day AR building class in Bryson City, NC at the end of September that will cost $350, I would rather attend something in Mid-TN support some local guys.
