Any luck in the deer woods so far this year?

Deer Down!  First one of the season.  Bow kills are such a rush!  She came out of the woods to the right a few yards south of the sunlight on the ground at about 27 yards.  I shot her with my Bear Archery Legion and 100gr Muzzy's and had a complete pass through.  Only hunted about 45 minutes before she showed up.  Very thankful for this deer!

Nice.

I still haven't had a clean shot opportunity :(

Been busted/snorted and bumped a few....

Today I found 2 nice FRESH Scrapes.  So that lets me know it isn't hopeless.

Keep going out there, it will happen.  Don't get discouraged if your hunts aren't going smoothly.  Maintaining a positive attitude will result in being ready for the next opportunity.  Cant tell you how many times I have been busted when I was already frustrated about something else.

I was unable to hunt yesterday due to family obligations so I'm hoping to see some deer today. However, as of right now I've already heard what sounded like 4 shots from a rifle. There is no way anyone could've reloaded a muzzleloader that fast.

It's amazing how many people I talked to this week that had no clue that muzzleloader didn't open until the 9th. I've seen 1 doe so far but she was out of range. Good luck to everyone hunting today!

I started to get things ready to go last Monday morning when I glanced at a TWRA calendar and saw when muzzleloader season really opened. Didn't it used to open the day after the juvenile hunt?

It's normally opened the weekend following juvy. This year it's a week later. If you're not in the woods today, you're missing out. I'm hoping to shoot a doe but I keep seeing young 5pt & 6pt bucks. This is a private property that I get to hunt and it's just overrun with does. I'm trying to thin the does, but these young bucks are tempting! If my freezer was completely empty I'd shoot one of them.

It used to open day after juvy hunt, but not this year. You wouldn't believe the number of tickets wrote this past weekend! It does really pay to read the regs!

If you shoot them with a bow during bow season, they don't mind as much. (last Sunday)

Got this one the first week of bow season.

You wouldn't happen to live in Elizabethton would you? That looks exactly like a spike I saw a couple weeks ago, walking on the side of the road. Also, not asking out of rudeness.

About as far from Elizabethton as possible and still in the State, over in Weakly County for the hunts, live in  Madison Co.
