I would like to see what others have to say on this. I have a 500 & love it. Just got a Maverick in trade. About the only difference I can see is the safety is at a different location.

That may be the only thing, I don't know. YouTubers love the Maverick and I will use it for hunting deer on Corp property and maybe get a short barrel for home defense off season. I'm pretty sure the 500 barrels fit on these too so should be easy to find.

My 500 is  the Maverick is not.

Well that may be one thing I have to think about then. I will probably want to put a scope on it. I guess I could get the Maverick for now though since it's so affordable and then later get a 500 so I can have a scope....Hmmm

Well with no money in my pocket, I stopped in Academy on my way home. Checked out the Maverick w/28" barrel and it's still $189. But................I just had to do it, I picked up the Rem 870 Express with 18.5" barrel and dang if it didn't feel good! It's $319 though.

If the price point on the maverick wasn't so much less I woulda got another. They are easy shooting guns. Sent barefoot from the hills of Tennessee

Have one for home defense.  Have put about 15 rounds of 00, 0, and 1 through it with no problems.  Put a glowing-type (light intensifying) front sight on to improve aim.  For my purpose the cost difference was, and still is, not worth it.

Okay guys, are you ready for a laugh at my misery? I'm in big trouble! I just told my wife that I'd like money for Christmas and I was going to put it towards a shotgun. Any extra money I got from my parents, etc would go in the pot as well. At this moment, my daughter and wife both turn around, and glare at me. "Thanks for ruining your Christmas present you JERK! We were going to get you the dang shotgun since we saw you looking at it on Thanksgiving and won't shut up about it!"  On the flip side of that coin, she also informed me that she's already got her present ordered and I just owe her the money lmao! Well, I couldn't have asked for a more perfect present guys and I'm so excited! I also asked her if I could add a little money to it and get the one I want and she's cool with it................I'm doing cartwheels over here...with stares still coming at me.
