Knife (Razor) making video

Recommended Posts

cant believe I just sat here an hour and watched this. Very interesting, I have my Grand Paw's straight razors, afraid to use them. not much for spending time in the ER.

So very true for me as well. I tried to use one while in my early 20's. It wasn't pretty.

I have a couple from about 1910-20 from my gramps. Mostly worn so badly from sharpening you'd find it hard to tell what they were. I swear one looks like it was ground on an old foot-peddle grinder.

If you can handle some coarse language, this series of videos is really good too.

I'm sure he is good at what he does.  But he's basically saying he is more of a man or more of a "blade smith" or what have you because he refuses to use 20th century tech to help him make a knife.  Whatever.  The same thing is kind of going on right now between guys that use belt grinders and guys that use CNC.

I say if you have the equipment and the skill to use it, and you produce a quality product, it doesn't friggin matter how you got there.
