SIG stirring pot with muzzle brake

I really wish they'd bring it to market already. :waiting: Just put a 16" barrel on some, a short one on others, and just call a spade a spade and sell their intended barrel setup as an NFA item. ATF would be happy, people who have at this point almost lost interest altogether (like me) might start shelling out cash, and the ones still rabidly foaming at the bit would be throwing it at Sig hand over fist which would probably go a long way toward aleviating their concerns over missing revenue and lost jobs. As far as the general confusion in the firearms world over the legalities of muzzle breaks, thats just stupid on Sigs part. :stick: Seems like a pretty clear reach to me and personally with Todd "Chuckles" Jones in the midst of his power trip, right now I wouldn't be pushing any issues with the ATF.

Sig has a good case in this, and they are right.  The ATF needs to (become and ) remain absolutely specific about what is and is not regulated.  If something, as it stands, is not a wholly regulated item, then it is not a regulated item.  "Shifting" enforcement is a powerful  tool for many corrupt governments.  We do not want any part of that here.

Unfortunately it takes a company with the resources ($$) of Sig to butt heads with the government over such things.  Though it seems clear that someone well up in the hierarchy at Sig doesn't like the ATF and is intentionally pushing the boundaries.

I would much rather have Sig take them to court and wait. Sometimes the government needs to be beaten back with a stick and I'm glad Sig has the resources to do so.

Sig has maintained that the seemingly-arbitrary ruling by the ATF would negatively impact their bottomline and send a child throughout the firearm manufacturing industry as firms compete to innovate.

Won't somebody think of the children?
