New to Glock

I woke up this morning just knowing that I was going to buy a high-cap 9mm today. I found a brand new Glock 17 that was part of an estate and was able to trade my Sigma + 90 bucks. Anyway, it's a fantastic gun. I put a couple hundred rounds through it and I understand the hype now.

My question is this... is there anything I need to know aside from the ubiquitous "Don't shootcher ayuss awfff?" What do you all do when it comes to the super hi-cap magazines?

stick with the factory 17 rounders. If you decide to put the 2 round extensions on the mags, replace the mag springs as well. As far as the 33 round Gmags go, blast away, but don't buy the after market ones, just the Glock. BTW, welcome to being a Glock owner, the G17 is a great gun and no doubt not the last one you'll end up owning.

Not being a smart@$$ but if you are concerned with shooting yourself you need to seek professional training. Glocks are as safe as the shooter, maybe more so.

As far as the mags go ... I concur with the previous post about sticking with the 17 rd mags. I personally don't see the need for a 33 rd mag, not even for the range. Why practice with a mag that is completely off balance from what you will carry/use if the need arises? I have seen folks using them on a G26. :screwy:

The G17 is a great gun. Enjoy.

It's a running joke, that's been around as long as Glocks have, started by the anti-Glock camps. Thus the coined term "glock butt". The OP was simply adding humor to his post, which was quite clearly lost on you. Owning Glocks, according to your profile info, I'm surprised you even questioned that.

You'll find that there's a lot of joking around on here about Glocks and Glock owners. I own and carry a G23, and I even joke about them shooting their owners in the ass. See my sig line.

Gotcha. I do own Glocks. I've just never worried about them shooting me, especially in the butt.

I can take a joke. Sorry I missed the humor. I wasn't trying to be the forum jerk with my comments. I'll catch on once I've been around more. :screwy:

Oh, I know you weren't... and believe you own Glocks. That was never a question. I simply cited that, as I looked in your info to see if you did or not. Most Glock owners are use to the "ribbing" and "bashing" that they get, which is why I was surprised you didn't catch the humor in the OP's post. ;)

Like I said... it's pretty par for the course on here. We're a fun bunch of guys and gals, and not above giving the other gun camps a little crap now and again.

No harm, no foul.

I love that video.

"I'm the only one in this room professional enough to have this gun"

By the way ... When did they start making a Glock 40. I thought G39 was the highest numbered Glock at the moment? :)

I have owned a G19 for 15 years. Never a problem with it. Will shoot any brand ammo that I put through it.

Welcome to Glock. I have a G19 and a G26. I freakin love them both. I finally found a holster I can carry my G19 with the Crimson Trace on it so I'm very happy.

I have never shot a G17 but considering it's the next step up from the G19 it's gotta be great and so far my Glocks have never failed. About 600 through my G26 and 1400 through my G19. Just bang bang bang.

Oh I have heard one case of Glock butt is shirt tails getting caught in the trigger when holstering so be careful of that and I'm almost sure you won't shoot yourself with it.
