I've never been to one before, but just went to a well publicized book signing for a local author. He has written at least two I'd like to purchase. We got there, and the dude had no books to sale. Is this normal, or is he the worst self promoter ever?

I'm going to go with "worst self promoter ever".  LMAO

Being nosey. Who was the writer?

Thought about trying to get a few from various authors I like. Would love to have a signed edition of Robert A. Heinlein. Or from Jack L. Chalker.  Alas both are gone now.

Most recently, I'd like something from Larry Correia and John Ringo. And to blow your minds...Charlaine Harris.

Yes, the lady who wrote the Susie Stackhouse books that became the HBO True Blood series. Let me tell you, the books are very much better.

Her more recent books, the Midnight, Texas series are rather intriguing. I have liked them all.

Every book signing I have attended were held in commercial locations.  Books to be signed had to be purchased there, at full retail price usually.  No slipping off to Sam's or somewhere else and purchasing a discounted copy.

C.L. Gammon.

He writes historical stuff. "Macon County Race War" and "Hanging the Macon County Witch" we're the two I had an interest in.

Thanks. Not familiar with Mr. Gammon, but must confess that I'm one of the masses that don't read a lot of history. But I will make an effort to look into his works.
