  1. That was quick...now get out there and buy something! :D
  2. I wanted to do the same thing, but after following the forums on the CMP website, I realized I'd just be wasting my time unless I wanted to get one of the Specials.  I may wish I had done that in the end, but I'm still hopeful I'll end up with a couple of nice service grade rifles when they finally arrive. :x:
  3. Very nice...I considered getting one of those, but decided to order a couple of regular SA Service Grades and hope I get lucky. :x:
  4. I'd also suggest checking out the following sites.   http://surplusrifleforum.com/ http://www.gunboards.com/   A Mosin 91/30 is a must because they are so reasonably priced and are just tough durable rifles.   While prices are still fairly reasonable, you may also want to consider a Yugoslavian Mauser (M24/47 or M48) and a Swiss carbine (K31 is probably the best, but I think the K11 carbine is better looking and usually a bit cheaper). A Swedish Mauser is also a great rifle that will be in the same price range as a Swiss rifle. An SKS and a Mosin carbine (T53 will be the cheapest with M44 being better condition and higher price) are also good considerations. All of these can be found for around $300 or less, with perhaps the exception of the SKS which will run a bit more.
  5. There's not much info out there about them. I picked up a couple of their stripped lowers when AIM had a sale introducing their products on their website. I'm going to use one of the NatMil lowers in a budget build that I'm pulling together parts for now.
  6.   Huh? You obviously meant "Hi Point!" :hat:
  7. My order went pending today! Maybe I'll be receiving a really nice Christmas present. :x:
  8. I'm also curious what others experience is with PSA uppers, in particular their PTAC uppers. I picked this up for $299 today! http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/complete-uppers/16/ptac-16-m4-1-9-m4-upper-with-ar-15-8620-bcg-and-charging-handle-15196.html I've got a few stripped lowers that I picked up from AIM when they were on sale a few months ago. I also picked up a complete LPK with buffer and stock on sale at PSA a few weeks ago. I still need a rear sight, but its looking like I'll have just a tad over $500 in this build when I'm done. Obviously this isn't a high end shooter, but I think it'll make a good lightweight plinker that I won't worry about getting scratched up.
  9. I received my "DBU" last Tuesday, Dec. 3rd. I'm hoping that turn around time is getting shorter even though they told me to expect 60 to 90 days.
  10. My Father is retired Air Force, and we visited the Air Force museum when I was a teenager...that means it was a long time ago. I need to revisit the next time I'm near the area. Its been quite a few years since I visited DC too, but I plan on a visiting again in a few years. Robert, thanks again for posting the video...I saw the Air Force band a few times growing up, but this performance was very special.
  11. That was a great game to watch...didn't really care who won, just enjoyed the game!
  12. David, MacGyver and anyone else involved behind the scenes...Thanks for putting this TGO buy together!  :usa:
  13. I received notice from UPS that my lower and upper are on their way to my FFL dealer. It might be a while before I get mine put together...still trying to decide whether this will be 5.56, 300 Blackout or something else.
  14. I never cared for the Planet of the Apes style stock, but I like the TS style...so I couldn't resist when I finally found one locally a few years ago. I keep meaning to buy the magazine kit that attaches to the butt of the stock and includes two extra magazines, but I just never get around to it. This is the only Hi-Point I own anymore, but I have owned pistols in the past...always reliable and accurate, but just too heavy and ugly to look at so I got rid of them. The TS carbine looks ok though, so I plan on keeping it.
  15. I couldn't resist the black Friday special and ordered one at $89 and one at $99 with hand select. Shipping was only about $5 more for two. I guess we'll see whether the hand select makes any difference. I'll probably pick one to keep and sell the other since I already have several 91/30s...but who knows. :pleased:
  16. Received an email from J&G Sales with their Black Friday sales, which includes Mosin M44 carbines for $149.95! I haven't seen them that cheap in a long time.
  17. I don't know what the deal is at the Walmart in Bartlett/Wolfchase. Went in there the other day and went by the gun/ammo section and nothing...I mean nothing. All of the ammo cases were completely empty and both gun cases were empty. I asked an employee what the deal was and he said the cases were broken...they didn't look broken to me and there were no signs on the cases indicating any issue or where you should go if you wanted to buy anything. Of course there is never anyone at the gun desk anyway in that Walmart. I wonder if the manager has decided to shut down that department or if the cases were in fact broken.
  18. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Seems like we're having a rash of overzealous LEOs in the news lately.
  19. And during all of this Olin Mfg still can't make their numbers and their stock just languishes...their Sr Mgmt should all be fired!
  20. Thanks!
  21. The .32acp and .380acp Seecamps are very high quality pistols made to very tight tolerances so they are usually very ammo specific. If you use the recommended ammo they are very reliable, and it's hard to find anything smaller that has the same capabilities. I like them so much that I have all three (.25acp no longer made, .32acp and .380acp)! :pleased: Fair warning, the .380acp is pretty snappy, but not as bad as thought it was going to be. The .32acp can be snappy too, and both are probably more difficult for people with large hands...not one of my problems.
  22. Unless you are considering cowboy action shooting, I'd go with the BH to get the adjustable sights.
  23. Thanks for the clarification and extra pics!
  24.   We actually agree for the most part, except we'll never know whether all those voters would have just stayed home or voted republican, which would have changed the results in this election. I don't agree with a lot of the social conservatism of the GOP either, but I agree even less with the fiscal policies and most of the social policies of the democratic party, so I do find myself having to vote for someone that I don't completely agree with much of the time...to do otherwise just helps the opposition. I guess I'll ask you this...if you don't agree with 100% of everything a friend or family member says or does, do you just stop associating with them?
