  2. ...or inside a car doing a drive-by on you.
  3. Sold my bike the other day... but will be shopping the next couple weeks for another, maybe will have one to ride.
  4. Merged all Obama Grade Poll threads.
  5. Well, there was some healthcare bill before congress once upon a time...
  6. I like the Viola idea, it is a good range... it's possible that the owner would let us grill out, out there. I will find out, if any are interested. Viola is an hour from the 'boro, and about 30min from Manchester, conservatively... so it'd be a long drive for many, which is the drawback... along with the lack of places to eat in Viola. Parking is an issue at Walden's... and on a Saturday we'd be competing for space with the regulars, as well. So I'd definetly want to let him know we were coming. I'll post again what I find out from Viola... it'd be worth a try at least, I've been wanting to go there again for a while.
  7. I use mine as a range/competition gun.
  8. Exactly... it only makes sense to those who won't be paying for it. Good post.
  9. I have heard from several people (take hearsay for what it's worth) that there are a handful of transferrable G18s in the US, all but one of them are in the hands of agencies in the Northwest who won't give them up for sale... and the other has been in the hands of an investor since importation. FWIW
  10. I honestly don't see why placing a requirment on employers to provide insurance benefits makes sense... Why not buy it like car/home insurance? Find your age and health bracket (ie, smoke, drink, overweight, etc...), choose your deductibles and there you go. If you don't have health insurance, that's your choice, but if something happens and you don't/can't pay, your medical provider can place a lien against your life insurance/estate/social security so that it does get paid. Make individuals responsible for their own care.
  11. Aimpoint is a bit lighter, too, if I recall...
  12. Whoops! Fixed that... the calendar I was looking at ends on Friday. Doh! And, as far as Owl Hollow, etc goes, that's pretty far for me to go, personally... though I've done it a few times. I was trying to make it more accessible for some of us to the south, by putting it nearer the middle of the state and patronizing one of our vendors at the same time... Perhaps it would be worthwhile to ask about a group rate, if lower cost at On-Target would sweeten the pot... There are a number of folks here who shoot at Terry Walden's in Manchester... that's a good outdoor range.
  13. Folks, it's been awhile since I've seen a get-together near enough for me to attend without driving longer than I'd get to shoot... so, I'm proposing a casual lunch and trip to the indoor range at On-Target in Murfreesboro for one weekend in April... Need to decide where to eat, as well. So here's a poll. Your comments are welcome!
  14. $353 EOTech 512 a65 Holographic Weapon Sight
  15. As a single, healthy male with good income who won't be eligable for any discounts or provisions from this bill (actually will be losing deductions and paying additional 4 1/2% next year on top of everything else). I'll be paying for insurance for myself, and from what I can calculate thus far, approximately 2 additional families who I do not know, nor am responsible for. You're welcome. Makes me just want to work less and take my investments offshore.
  16. There are transferrable slide endplates which allow full-auto function.
  17. I have carried several ways... IWB, OWB, drop-leg, pocket, shoulder, off-body... and IWB is the best balance between concealability and comfort with a decent size pistol. Pocket pistols are a bit on the inadequete side (IMO), and drop-leg and shoulder are only viable in certain situations (ie, wearing a jacket, riding a motorcycle, at the range, you get the idea)... I have several OWB holsters, but they are usually relegated to when wearing a large overshirt or jacket, or when carrying openly. IWB makes the most sense to me.
  18. Sounds like either the firing pin is gunked up, bent, or the hammer block plunger is stuck. Give it a good cleaning (including the firing pin channel), and make sure all the springs are in good shape (and installed correctly)
  19. I do need another pocket gun, as well... I'd like to get a 9mm instead of .380 though, gonna have to be either a PM9 or a Rohrbaugh.
  20. I recall there used to be several TGO get togethers in Memphis, at Range USA... good to see that starting again.
  21. I want a G36 myself... but the Kahr has a better grip and trigger. If you'll shoot it enough to perform the break in, I'd give the CW45 the advantage here... based on size as well.
  22. They always were... who are we kidding?
  23. On the other side of the coin... some firearms run just fine without detail stripping, I recall the XD-9 Tactical I owned and shot the piss out of went easily 8K rounds with zero cleaning at all aside from external wipedown and boresnaking the barrel; it never malfunctioned (even when the striker retaining pin broke, it still kept running). I regret selling that gun now.
  24. I think that's awesome... Where's the 12ga version?

    H&K SL8-1

In SL8 form they have horrible ergonomics and a neutered magazine capacity... but if you have another $2K or so to blow on top of the cost of the rifle, it can be transformed into a nice G36 clone. I can think of alot cooler things to do with 4 grand, but that's just me.
