    Mossberg MVP LR

I'd rather go with the Rem 700.  More aftermarket support and a popular choice for entry LR shooting.
  2.     Does top or bottom bolt release give you any indication of production year?
  3.     I've got an 18" threaded 308 barrel.  Want to build a general purpose hunting/target shooting rig.  I've got a 600 yd range set up so that's the furthest shot It'll see.
  4. Interesting.  That's a heck of a deal you got.   Yes, I'm not interested in an Axis either.  Lack of aftermarket and no accutrigger kills it for me.   I'll check the Walmart close to my work and see if they have any in stock.  I've got a 308 barrel begging to be built into a semi-long range rig.
  5.     No kidding, eh.  I've only seen AXIS models at Walmart.  Guess I'll keep checking back or order one (if they still do that.)
  6. Anywhere else to buy a standard bolt face savage action other than Northland shooting supply?   Thanks.
  7.       Wrong.  Efile is not down for all forms.  You are still able to file a Form 1, for example.
  8.     I just did a rebarrel and it was a little bit of a pain getting the nut off.  I tried the wood block method and it just would not work.  I ended up buying an action wrench on sale.  Mine had a smooth nut and it would not come off even using an action wrench and smooth barrel nut wrench.  I had to use a pipe wrench and destroyed the factory smooth nut.  I replaced it with the older style notched nut so that won't happen again.  I suggest you consider doing the same.
  9.     Rev 9 is $580 at silencershop.  The AAC modular can is only in 45, at least for now, and not available at present (to my knowledge.)   I did see where silencershop has the new AAC Illusion 9 in stock for $676.
  10.     That is about your only option if you wish to suppress all the above listed calibers.  Only thing to mention is that it will only handle subsonic 308 so keep that in mind.    Otherwise, I'd take a look at the Octane or Griffin Revolution 9.  The rev 9 can be configured smaller for use on an HD weapon which would come in handy.
  11.     It's just a photo of the NFA stamp on your form which will also have "approved" and the examiner's digital signature at the bottom.  I wouldn't worry about someone trying to fake one.  Risk jailtime by faking an SBR?  No thanks.
  12. No thanks.  Not when you can get a shield for roughly $350.
  13. I'd go with an aluminum.  They are super cheap right now, so why risk it with a poly lower?
  14. Welcome to the NFA world my friend.   You guys think it's that bad?  Two F4's, copy of trust, and $200 check.  While I agree that the suppressor regulation should be removed altogether, the paperwork isn't THAT bad.
  15.     No problem.  Torrey is great to work with up there.  Also sign up for their newsletter and they have deals once a month.  I scored a Salvo 12 for $795!!
  16.     I like the K2 over the BCM.  Seems like the BCM is a little too thin and puts your trigger finger closer to the trigger.  Personal preference of course.  Grip angle is about the same.
  17.     Interesting.  I'll give that a try, thanks.
  18.     This has not been my experience with cheaper units (Kies), hence my upgrade to the Syrac.
  19.     If you want one for the primary uses of hunting on a bolt gun, you will want lightweight.  Lightweight usually means titanium with a few exceptions.  In general centerfire rifle cans are not serviceable.  There really is no need to take it apart unless you will be shooting a lot of cast lead.  In that case my recommendation would change.  I would look at, and I own, an AAC 300tm.  It is at the top of your price point, but it performs very well and is very lightweight.  The Silencerco Omega is another good choice at that price point.  If you prefer to save a bit of cash, take a look at the Silencerco harvester or the Griffin sportsman.  Both of those come in around $550-600.  Suppression won't be quite as good, but they are light and fairly inexpensive.  I'd also look at the thunderbeast arms new line of titanium cans.  They look very promising.   If you will be shooting cast lead and want to take it apart, I'd look at the Liberty Mystic X.  It's rated for supersonic 300blk and won't be too heavy.   It's easier to buy direct from a local dealer, but they don't always have what you want.  I've bought most of mine online from retailers including silencershop.  There are several other good online dealers for you to check.  I have experience with Tarheel state firearms, capitol armory, and silencershop.  All have been great.  They will file a Form3 which will transfer it to your local dealer.  Local dealer will charge a fee for the transfer, then you will file Form4 to transfer to you.  The F3 adds some time though.  Recently those times have been upwards of 2 months.
  20.     I like the gen 2 Syrac adjustables.  It has a detent to keep it from backing out.  I prefer clamp style as well.
  21. That's absurd.  It's 24.99 here in central AR and they always have it in stock.
  22.     So I guess you like their 50 ammo?  I've read mixed reviews coming from arfcom so I take it with a grain of salt.  Interested to hear your opinion because I've thought about trying it.
  23. I agree with the others.  I think your chrono placement was way too close.  I place mine 10' away from muzzle and have never had any problems.
  24. Different batch of powder?  I know that can cause some degree of variance, but I doubt it would lead to your results.  Just throwing it out there.
  25.     Looks like he raised prices to $367, but out of stock.  I don't believe they will be getting more in, but it wouldn't hurt to call and ask.   http://www.quietriotfirearms.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=AACTR9
