  1.     Indeed.  I picked one up recently for $349.
  2.         Maybe I should rephrase.  They are phasing them out in favor of the Illusion in 9mm and the 45M in 45.  This was confirmed by several AAC dealers.  You can still find them right now, but the Illusion will be released soon.
  3.     Tirant 9 is discontinued in favor of their new can, the illusion, which has an eccentric off center design.   Take a look at the Griffin revolution 9 as well.  It can be configured into a shorter version when overall weight is important.  Very cool design and baffles look very similar to octane baffles.
  4.    Mystic X is direct thread, but they have 3 lug mounts.  I believe they also just came out with a module that can utilize AAC 51t mounts, but it would be a poor choice for strictly 556 rifles.   If you are also considering 30cal versions, take a look at the Silco Omega.  It is very lightweight, can use 556 endcaps to improve dB reduction, and utilizes the ASR mount which is very solid.
  5. There are a few good QD lightweight cans out there.  Did you have a budget in mind?   I've got a heavy YHM and the detach system is nice and works as it should.  It's not as glamorous as some of the other manufacturers but it works well.   YHM certainly isn't the only manufacturer that offers lifetime warranty so keep that in mind.
  6. I SBR'd one....no issues.  I also SBR'd a blem one...oh my!  No issues with that one either, aside from a cosmetic finish imperfection.  Doesn't really matter when you cerakote over it.
  7. Soooo...what do you have planned for your third NFA item.  It is addicting, my friend.
  8.     Saker 7.62 is $899 at silencershop.  Endcap is $78, so $977 total plus your dealer fees for transfer (unless you can find one cheaper locally.)
  9. I have a specwar 556 and it is a great choice.  The mount is solid, suppression is one of the best in it's class, and weight is on par with other 556 cans.  All that, and for a great price.  I picked mine up for around $500 from silencershop before SilCo raised prices.  You won't be disappointed if you choose the specwar.
  10.   Contact a local attorney and they will help you get one set up.   After that you can eFile a Form1 for your SBR.
  11.     Same thing here in AR.  All my local dealers charge $150.  I still come out ahead because they all want to charge MSRP for suppressors.
  12.     Out of stock now...sorry gentlemen.
  13. Or you can pay less here:  http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=468322680     Seems dealers are dumping old stock for the new stuff after SHOT.   That's fine by me because "old stock" is good enough for me.  I found a specwar 7.62 for $499, a salvo 12 for $795, a tirant 9 for $349, and now this TREK for $295.  I should stop buying suppressors.  I have a problem.....     Edit - This TREK is a bargain at $295 for those wanting to enter the NFA game.  You won't find a centerfire rifle can better than this for cheaper, I can guarantee that.
  14. I leave my schedule A blank and have been approved numerous times, both eFile and paper.  I have a hard copy revised one in my safe.
  15. My wife is an optometrist and has set me up with some prescription sunglasses.  I didn't realize I had a problem till she "practiced" on me for her board exams.  I have astigmatism as well and, with glasses, reticles are much more clear.  I'm not an eotech fan, but my aimpoint was definitely hazy without glasses.   You may also try green reticles.  My wife suggested this and presented the science behind why it may be better for me.  I don't remember the reasons why it's better, but I have found that trijicon green reticles are amazing.  I have an ACOG with green horshoe reticle and I can actually use it without glasses and it's still fairly precise.    So, in summary: (1) Definitely check with another doc to get some prescription lenses/contacts.  (2) Give the trijicon green reticles a try.
  16.     I tried.  Then Capitol armory ran a special for the Salvo 12 @ $795....couldn't pass it up.  My local dealer's price is $1150 so it was a no brainer.  Oh well, more waiting.
  17.   More like 2 months now that eForm is down.  Paper Form3's are getting ridiculous.
  18. You can also use an oven mitt until you get a purpose built cover.  Silencershop usually sends one with suppressor purchases.  I would wrap it around the can and use parachord to hold it on.  I'll take a pic of the setup later, but it works well.
  19.   Congrats.  That's the quickest I've heard of.  My last F4 approval was around 4.5 months.  They have been trending downward, but 3 months is fast!
  20. Yes, they are very effective.  My application is primarily on a bolt gun to mitigate mirage, but it is very nice being able to just take the can off and pack up after a trip to the range.  Otherwise I would have to wait for quite some time for the can to cool enough to put in my range bag.  Your application is different, but the end result is the same.  If you were to do several long strings of fire, I would remove the cover in between drills though.  I believe the HAD is rated for heavy fire though, so disregard if you've done the research on it.   I melted a case, a rug, and part of a range bag before I bought a cover.  Took me a while to learn my lesson, but they are worth every penny IMO.
  21.     That's what I thought...promo excludes suppressor and receivers.   Curious, did you find out what caused the baffle strike?
  22.     I'll try to explain a little better using the tirant as an example.  The rear of a pistol can, Tirant in this case, designed for tilt barrels (Glock, M&P, etc.) will have a removable rear endcap which houses the piston and spring.  The spring is needed to cycle pistols with barrels that tilt.  The piston is the part that is threaded for the barrel and goes inside the spring.  These pistons can be swapped out for different thread pitches.  I hope that makes a little more sense.
  23.     Not sure how much you know about cans, but on pistol suppressors you can switch pistons to be able to use different thread pitches.  Pistons can be purchased for around $ 60-70 and you can find most in stock at silencershop.com.   http://www.silencershop.com/shop/category/accessories/pistons-and-mounts/
  24.   Primarily customer service, lack of response, poor performance with centerfire cans, etc.   http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_6_20/439749_HTA_762_can.html   http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_6_20/439689__330_SilCo_Sparrow_instead_of_Huntertown_Arms_Guardian_22_Suppressor____.html   http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_6_20/423275_PSA__Huntertown_arms_customer_service_sucks.html   http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_6_20/439593_Recommended_replacements_for_my_crappy_HTA_cans.html         From my understanding, the promo can not be applied to other cans.  Is that not correct?  I'm currently waiting on my promo code from the T9 I ordered.
