  1. Interesting indeed.  I do have an SWFA HD and would've liked to see it in the review but oh well.
  2.     Bad idea.  Huntertown has terrible customer service and I'm surprised they are still in business.   You can shoot 22lr through the Tirant, no problem.  It is user serviceable.  It does however, have aluminum baffles which are more difficult to clean than other materials.  The octane has stainless baffles which can be cleaned with easier methods.   The Tirant for $400 is a hell of a deal.  I happened to find one for $349 during holiday deals from Quiet Riot.
  3. AAC isn't going anywhere in my opinion.  That said, I'd also look at the Griffin armament revolution 9 and the previously mentioned octane 9.   FWIW I have cans from several manufacturers, including AAC and Silencerco.
  4.     Says $169 after rebate, but the price is $151.98.  Interesting.  I'm debating picking one up since it's such a good deal.
  5. Nice.  Looks like the bolt handle is larger as well.  I've got the 22wmr version and it is super accurate.

I recommend PSA blems for $49.  They occasionally offer free shipping with them also.
  7. I recently acquired a Ruger American in 22wmr and love it.  The action was a bit rough at first but after 50 rounds and some oil, she's smooth now.  I put a harris bipod on it and a Nikon 2-7 and it is super accurate with CCI ammo.  Throw a suppressor on there and it is a sweet package.
  8.   Gotta pay to play.  If you refuse to pay just because they are controlled by the feds, then you are missing out on a lot of fun.  There are lots of suppressors that are very reasonably priced, and a trust can be had for less than $100.
  9.   I've just dealt with them on many transfers and like how they do business.  They update you via email as your transfer progresses.  From what I've read, Jake at quietriot is a great guy and many are pleased with how their transfers are handled.  I don't think you can go wrong ordering from either company.
  10.       I bought one a month ago at that price from silencershop who price matched it for me.  Form3 should clear any day now.
  11. Get something that is easy to clean (e.g. Spectre II, sparrow) and NOT aluminum.   I have an outback IID with aluminum K baffles.  While it is very quiet, it is a PAIN to take apart and a PAIN to clean.  I'll never buy another aluminum 22lr can again.
  12. Silencershop has them on sale for $400 right now FYI.  Quiet riot had them for $348 about a month ago.  I had SS price match it at $348.  Heck of a deal for a great can plus the $200 in store credit at AAC.
  13.     Word on the street (for whatever that is worth) is F4's should be online either Q1 or Q2 2015.
  14.     Well, not necessarily subs only but they tend to be more effective with lower pressure according to my reading.  Either way, I'll be looking for your results.   Liberty is taking custom work at the moment, but it comes at a price.  I requested a quote for a Ti can for 458 socom and their response was $2k.  I decided to Form1 my own for <$100.  It won't be made of Ti and it will be a simple freeze plug can, but it'll knock the bark out of that round.    Good luck with your build.  I wish I had a lathe or a mill....maybe some day.
  15. Gotcha. Keep us updated with your results. OP, sorry for the slight thread derail.
  16.     Interesting design.  Almost like a reflex that's in front of the barrel instead.  Traditionally K baffles are used for subsonic applications so I'm anxious to hear your results with supersonic ammo with your "tube within a tube" design.   There is a guy over on silencertalk who had a similar design only he used 60 degree cones and the outer space was a part of the blast chamber.  In other words, he didn't vent the inner tube.  His results in 5.56 were mostly successful if I recall.
  17.     But the endless smiles every time you shoot suppressed will be worth the wait!   Besides, wait times are trending down now anyway.  My last one went pending in May and I picked it up a few weeks ago.
  18. I use a Rainier 8.5" also with good results.  I shoot it with both a YHM qd and a Ti AAC 300-TM.  I prefer the AAC as it is quieter and lighter.  Really any 7.62 can will sound decent with 300 subs.  Here are a few others you may want to check out:   sdn-6 as mentioned earlier specwar 762 saker 762 liberty chaotic liberty freedom yhm m2   You need to consider weight, length, mount, construction, dB reduction, and possibly cost.  My advice is not to let cost sway you and really consider weight.  It may not sound like a lot but you WILL notice a heavier can.  Think about your primary role for the rifle and let that guide you as well.
  19. Congrats on your first NFA purchase....soon to be followed by your SECOND NFA purchase.  These things are addictive....
  20. Out of those 3, sparrow.  I'd also recommend taking a look at the spectre II as well.
