  1. What is your opinion on refinishing this gun?  Would it be worth the 2 to 3 K to do this?
  2. I have a dump question.  Have you restarted your computer?  I was having the same problem with other web sites.
  3. Thanks for your reply.  After posting this I did some more research and found this:   From 1879 to 1884 Winchester bought breech loading double barrel hammer shotguns from a number of English Gun makers. These shotguns were imported, marked and sold by Winchester through a store maintained by Winchester in New York City. These shotguns were chambered in 10 and 12 gauge, and advertised and marked as "Match Gun", "Class A", "B", "C" and "D". The total of all types sold was approximately 10,000. The English Gun makers were W.C. Scott & Sons, Richard Rodman, C.G. Bonehill and W.C. McEntree.
  4. https://www.proxibid.com/asp/LotDetail.asp?ahid=5215&aid=84895&lid=21157066&rfpb=0#Top   I am looking at this double barrel, double trigger, rabbit ear shotgun that is for sale at an auction site.  They are calling it a Winchester Model PRE MODEL 21 12 ga.  I have never seen one of these.  It is not a Model 21.  Can someone tell me the model #?
  5. I have been investigating child abuse for 18 years.  A person is not arrested unless there is enough evidence to prosecute the person.  The DA doesn't press charges until there is a good case.    I do agree that if he is guilty he needs to be put in the general population to face the friendliness of the other prisoners.  I am sure he would find some good friends.  Like the Army says; "never leave your buddies behind".
  6. I have 2 boxes of 100 each Hornady 45 cal 250 Gr HP/XTP if you are interested.  The box says #45200.  They are just sitting around and I have no use for them.  I got them in a trade.
  7. I had sent my 700 back to Remington on 6/1/14.  I received it back yesterday, 8/14/14.  It took about 75 days from sending it out to getting it back.  The trigger feels the same as it did when I sent it out.
  8. I agree.   I have a small tractor and am looking at a bigger one.  Everyone I know say the same thing.  What ever you have you want a bigger one.
  9. I have a Remington 1100 with an extended tube that sits next to me when I am watching TV.  I don't want to worry about pumping my shotgun when I have an intruder.  Next to my bed there is a Judge.  If you wake me in the middle of the night and I am not very awake all I have to do is point it in the direction of the noise.  I live in the country so I am not worried about hitting anyone else.  It is just my wife and me so I am not worried about shooting a family member.  I use 00 buck in the Remington.
  10. I have seen these barrels at Dunham Sporting Goods.  Find one in your area and give them a call.
  11. I plan on sending my 700 back.  I have a lot of other rifles that I can shoot until I get this one back.  I will let you know how long it takes.
  12. Thanks for this post.  I was not aware of the recall.  I am going to send it back to Remington and they can fix it.  This is my favorite hunting rifle.  No need to buy a new trigger when this set up feel so right.
  13. At 800 yards your drop is going to be over 300 inches.  Very hard to judge any bullet with that much drop.  His last shot you can actually see the bullet leave the barrel and you can see the trail.
  14. Great collection.  I am jealous.  I only have 2.  I don't even have that many Winchesters.  I need to get out there and get more Winchesters.
  15. I probably have 30 more years of life left.  How much ammo can I shoot in 30 years?  That is how much ammo I need.  I do have a gun that they do not make ammo for.  I am trying to corner the market on what is left out there.  The haven't made this ammo since 1957.  For all my other guns I need about 30K per caliber.  I am not there yet.
  16. Thanks for the link.  Like most sites they are collectors of the WWII Mausers.  I have been able to download the owners manual.  I can not find the date of manufacture.  The rifle is a great addition to my collection.  For the price I couldn't pass it up.  The rifle is in great condition.
  17. I just picked up a gun from my father-in-law.  It is a Mauser-Werke A.G. Oberndorf a.N. Model 66 Serial number G 158XX   I have looked and the only information I can find is about WWII Mausers.    Anyone have a web site or information.
  18. I thought of going but I just purchased a new gun and my wife won't let me buy another one for a month.  I am only allotted one a month.
  19. I have the same rifle and setup.  I took a coyote at 200 yards last year.  Great gun.  This is my favorite gun.
  20. This is not surprising to me.  I used to live in Connecticut.  I used to go hunting and shooting with my friends there.  They love their guns and the freedom to own them.
  21. Looks like an old 1994.  I have a hand full of them.  Mine is better than yours.  LOL
  22. I too have the lever-actionitis.  I have 12 old Winchesters.  Three are shotguns.  Just can't stop myself.  Glock?  What is that?  I don't have one. Glocks are ubiquities.  I prefer something rare.  But, as long as you have a gun-itis I am ok with it.
