  1. I want an OD 29 Gen4...
  2. If "I" only have to have one handgun its a Glock 20.  Reasons:  Self Defense.  Critter Defense (i.e bears).  Deer Hunting/Big Game hunting.  15 Rounds of 200gr. XTP's will stop the world.   The recoil of my full powered GLock 20 loads are not perfect for my wife and sons though...   For "my family" the Glock 19.  Reasons:  Simple. Accurate.  Reliable.  Perfect.   Believe it or not I am not one of those Glock people, but those are two of the best guns ever produced in my opinion.
  3. Exactly what Patton said.   I had a Gen2 20 that cost me enough in brass to buy a few Gen4s lol.

    MVP Varmint 5.56

A 1/9 twist should shoot 69s wonderfully.  My Savage 10PC is 1/9 and I have no issues up to 77gr.  69 gr Sierra match king with 24gr of Varget is my show off load lol.  Of course ymmv...   My guess is trigger or poor breath control and you got a flyer.   Don't give up on the 69s just yet (5 shots will be more definitive and rule out a flyer or lucky group, hard to do with our current ammo situation though I know...)   Thats a good looking rifle.
  5.     You are in healthcare, and a gun owner, AND an Obama supporter?   How the heck does that happen?
  6. The later gen3 and the gen4 have better chamber support if you reload a little warm (at least all the ones I have had or seen have).  This goes doubly so for the 20,my gen4 20 has almost the same support as my LW barrel.
  7. Sooooo very true on the uppers staying extra lol. My first ar308 was the heavy dpms 260 rem (I must have gotten lucky on that one because it out shoots all of my bolt guns...) It was $1k pre crazy My 308 light upper I built with Ranier arms barrel and troy rail I had about $7-750 in it. My third 308 I intend on having closer to 1k in as I am intending on stepping up in barrel quality (Krieger or Lilja...still flipping a coin). That puts me at roughly $2700 in a rifle with three uppers. Throw in my geissele trigger and other nick nacks and its a cool $3k I would guess.
  8. I guess what I am getting at is, I have an AR with a light 308 upper and it suits my battle rifle needs well and its a legit 1moa rifle. I have an upper for that rifle in 260 rem that I can shoot 1/4 moa with occasionally and 1/2 moa with ease. I am in the process of building another distance upper in 308 with a heavy match barrel. I still will be under the cost of the SCAR. Recoil on a 308 AR is negligable, my 13 yo son shoots mine with ease and impacts can be easily seen on the 260. I am certainly not rich but do alright, I would buy a SCAR if it truly done something that my AR didn't (other than look really darn awesome).
  9. I agree the scar is a very nice total package, and I see the value of having one really nice total package instead of a lower and a couple of uppers. I just don't know if for me and my situation if the cost justifies owning it over an AR and a couple of uppers. You give up a lot of flexibility, there is something to be said for a package deal though.
  10. With pmags being made for DPMS/Knights and now some Armalite the magazine issue is getting resolved (RRA being the holdout... That's probably a small portion of 308 ARs though). The AR can be made to be whatever you want it to be. Want it light put a lightweight barrel and light rail and its lighter than a scar. Put a heavy barrel and pretend you are shooting an SR25 at coyotes... Don't like the long heavy trigger of one of the other rifles mentioned then put a Geiselle DMR or match trigger in it. With the AR you are only limited as to what you want to spend. The other rifles mentioned you have options but not near number of even the confusing AR 308 world. This is nothing against the SCAR rifles or the m1a, its choices. They all are excellent choices.
  11. I keep getting ar10 and ar 308 mixed up... Other than more expensive and looks cool, what benefit does a scar have over a quality ar 308? I have owned the m1a and know first hand it's nuances; other than nostalgia it has no benefit over an AR.
  12. AR10. Cheaper. Lots more options if you want to personalize, or if want to reach out and touch something at a distance. There are tons more options for barrels if you want to get real accurate. Not to mention caliber swaps are a barrel or upper away..... (260 Rem is mmmmmmm mmm good).
  13. As the title states I am looking to upgrade my DPMS 308 and looking at different barrel makers. Looking to shoot distance so accuracy is a concern. Price isn't so much an object. Time however is of a concern ( not waiting months for an ad barrel..). Currently considering Lilja and Fulton armory (criterion). Any suggestions or other brands?
  14. This exactly.   I discovered this when my oldest son started playing organized airsoft a few years ago.  If you take the 11 year olds out of it, it can be a an excellent way to train force on force also.
  15. 8 30 round pmags loaded with 28 rounds 2 older colt 20 rounds loaded with 18 rounds in my tactical tailor harness alongside some other goodies behind my closet  door...
  16. I prefer a clean slide aesthetically, however I like the practicality of the serrations.
  17. Me and my Glock 21 disagree
  18. I am almost afraid to like this post lol.
  19. Edited to keep this discussion on topic.
  20. I have a Savage 10PC that is cerakoted OD and it has been somewhat abused and it looks perfect still.  Far from a safe queen.   I think alot of it is what has been said already, it's all in who does it and the prep work that was done.
  21. I have shot some 10mm Glock reloads that were in the nuclear range, never had a kaboom.   ALWAYS inspect your brass, NEVER EVER NEVER load max load on anything other than new brass and then approach it with extreme caution, this goes triple for a Glock using a factory barrel, steer clear of max loads with factory unsupported chambers.   Buy a chrono, just because you aint flattening or blowing primers that doesnt mean you arent over max psi.
  22. You should try Longshot and PowerPistol, its replaced 800x and BlueDot for me.
  23. Loading the Glock 10mm with a factory barrel is a great way to run up your brass costs.  Save up, get a 6" LW or KKM barrel and enjoy your nuclear rounds.   On a positive note the Gen4 Glock 20 factory barrel is pretty well supported very close to my LW.
  24. Bushnell Tactical 10x is very good for the money and sits on one of my .308s(occasionally Bushnell will run $50-75 rebates on their tactical line that makes these walmart scope cheap).  Vortex viper is the best glass I have looked through not named Nightforce for realistic money.
  25. The new Glock 30S is now out in the wild its basically a Glock 30 with a slim 36 slide (in other words perfect).
