  1. Surely some TGOer near Chattanooga has a XD or a universal sight tool. I'd look for someone on here that would let you borrow the tools. I've got a spreadsheet around somewhere that tells how much to move the rear sight based on the distance shooting, sight radius of the gun, difference in POA and POI, etc. BTW, I sure don't blame you for letting the old gunsmith work on your XD again!
  2. Any chance you can get the original gunsmith to finish the job he started? That assumes you want him to work on your xd again. It sounds to me like he didn't finish the job you hired him to do.
  3. This comes from someone with 10,000+ posts... Only kidding! For some reason, some people use post count as a way to 'measure' themselves. IMO, a high post count only means you've been around for a long time and been active. Some guys with high post counts get them by stirring the pot; others by being useful and helpful. As you can tell from my post count and when I joined TGO, I really place alot of importance on post count.
  4. The states should make this illegal. Maybe when Bloomy gets NYC cleaned up, he can start advising the rest of the nation. Even then, pulling this undercover "investigation" crap is, well, crap!
  5. Undercover investigators buy guns without background checks - CNN.com As usual, he's out pushing for closing the 'gun-show loophole'...
  6. I think if it was written as more "real", there wouldn't be any zombies.
  7. I have never heard of 'dual residency' when it came to states. As for the Chicago debacle, remember that Rham was Obama's chief of staff. You don't get better connections that he has. If you have Obama on speed dial, you could probably get away with a FTF transfer in Florida (but even then it might end up in court). Otherwise, I wouldn't suggest it.
  8. A handgun will have to go through a FFL in TN. If its a long gun, you can do the transfer through a FFL in FL. The only legal way you can buy from a resident from another state is to go through a FFL.

    Kel-Tec KSG-12

Back to the topic, this looks like a really cool shotgun. I like innovative designs. I do want to fondle one before even thinking about buying it.
  10. Prayers sent. I lost my Mom to cancer when I was 25 - it sure is a dreadful disease.
  11. There was a FTE and a double feed in the first 15 rounds or so fired from the 9mm. Those are reliability issues. Granted the gun was tough as can be. Reliability went down as they tortured the poor pistol - you can see in the later videos where they have misfires, etc. I sure wouldn't blame those issues on the gun after all it had been through by then. I would prefer other manufacturers for a EDC but if I had to, I'd carry a Hi Point.
  12. In the past, I paid quarterly. At the time a significant portion of my income was as an independent contractor. If I didn't pay quarterly, the penalties would have kicked in. Now, I don't pay quarterly. I don't get enough income from independent work to matter. The government just wants to stop you from paying in all taxes at the end of the year - they like the interest free loans people give them (i.e. refunds due) but they want their money now. Basically, whether or not you should pay quarterly depends on your employment status, etc.
  13. While I have no one on my ignore list, there are a couple of people that I generally don't bother reading their posts. I've kinda trained myself to just go on to the next post.
  14. For $39, it'd be hard to beat that deal.
  15. Do the PC's have GB NICs? Having a 1GB switch is great but if the individual computers only have 100MB NICs, it won't help performance much.
  16. Make sure they are all on the same subnet. The standard is to use 192.168.x.x for private networks. You will have to setup the gateway, DNS, etc. correctly - assuming these machines have a way to get to the internet.
  17. Try calling Guns and Leather. I think they are NFA friendly. They allow long guns but only in handgun calibers.
  18. I didn't ask the original question, but I'd like to have an idea of the result to expect. I'm not going to do anything to a gun or knife I own without some idea of the expected outcome.
  19. Sounds like this guy had a typically case of "don't let the facts ruin a good story". Thanks for posting the details about the denial and appeals process Smith - I learn something on TGO almost every day.
  20. You are not charged $1 every month. Its a one time verification charge. You will get a monthly statement from GB showing a $1 credit. Edit: what strickj said. I guess I should have finished the thread before responding...
  21. Thanks for your service, welcome to TGO, and please try to keep your Dad in line!
  22. I'm assuming you are a TN resident since your profile says Portland TN. I hope you realize you can only sell, trade, or buy firearms from a FFL in KY. Otherwise you are breaking federal law.
  23. This sounds like the exact opposite of the customer service the OP received.
  24. I recently got a duplicate and I did not have to send in a copy of my birth certificate. They had it on file from when I originally got my HCP. Actually, I may have used a passport to prove citizenship - I can't remember. I **think** that once they have proof of citizenship on file, you don't have to provide it again. This is one of the problems created when they started giving out drivers licenses to anyone a few years ago. Edit: or what Fallguy said. He got his post in while I was typing mine. Remind me not to get in a dual with Fallguy - he's a quicker draw.
  25. The state is not going to give up that revenue stream. I've bought long guns in KY and the FFL makes a simple phone call to NICS to complete the transfer and doesn't collect a fee for the background check. Its the same process that happens in TN, only here they call TICS and charge $10. Follow the $$$.
