I've wanted one since I started reading about them! It sounds like an extremely versatile round, whether your looking for a target round, a hunting round or a SD round. When you look at Muzzle velocity and muzzle energy, it's better than a .38spl or a 9mm. You can check it out here. http://www.ballistics101.com/327_magnum.php What barrel length did you get the Patriot in, Jvanhoosen?

Really? Are you into pain or just stitches?

The bullet guide is a "ramp" like part that fits in the trunnion area of the Saiga reciever, where the barrel connects. I think that standard Saiga mags (but not AK mags) have the Guide built into them. I think this was a way to make it harder to use standard AK mags in Saigas. I suspect that AK recievers already have the guide. You can buy a bullet guide and install it in your Saiga. Mine was already installed when I bought the rifle. Here is a link. http://dinzagarms.co.../saiga_223.html EDIT: Boy we all jumped on that, didn't we boys!!!

One is not supposed to be skinning the meat from one's digits. I think that's in the 10 Commandments of Knife Using somewhere. Hopefully, this will be taken care of routinely!

JWolf, for along term Bugout, you might want to get with a group of people you know and trust. What would be good is to find someone that would be willing to let you Bug Out to their place, where a group could set up. It's going to be difficult for one or two people or really even four or five to hold on to a stronghold for any length of time. People have to sleep sometime and that's when the bad folk will show up. Really, I think a good number would be 10 or so people. But that takes a lot of planning, to pull off and a lot of money up front. But with the right attitude and leadership it could be pulled off.

Mark, you never get bored, do you!

Fun little rifles at a good price! Ugly as sin, but fun! They are decently accurate out to 100 yds. You can definitely hit a man sized target with one at that range.

Oh, any old tin will do. It's just those are easy to find. I think you can still get BB's in tins and other types of candies like Altoids, and don't forget Sucrets! Actually those are bigger tins! But most containers are made of plastic now and don't hold up well. Shoe polish would be another one that would work, but they come in two pieces and can get lost easier. They might make a good penny stove though. Hadn't thought of that! Might have to give that a whirl one day.

I made a Char cloth tin out of one of those mini Altoids tins, last year. Works great! I have huge ball of what I'm pretty sure is jute twine. It's from a hay baler and is orangy in color. I use a fire steel as well. But at some point I would like to get or make a steel striker and some flint for a primative fire kit.

Oh, I'm not a fan of serrations either. I just bought this one on a whim. But so far, it's been a keeper, even with the serrations!!! At some point I will probably go ahead and pick up another one with a plain blade. It will be the satin finish. I don't much care for coated blades. I find they tend to slow the blade down. I've got a Condor Kumunga, that is fixing to get stripped and a CS Trailhawk that has been stripped.

I have one in .223 and I love it. I have 35 round Galil mags that are modified to fit the standard mag well. They have a bit of wobble, but they function flawlessly. I went with TAPCO stock, pistol grip and forearm for mine and put in a G2 trigger group and a US made piston. I learned a lot working to convert it back to what it should have been in the first place and in the process gained a new found respect for the old war horse! Shot it and enjoy it!!!

I hate I missed it, but we had just driven back from Tampa on Friday and my butt ain't used to setting 12 hours in a car. I was beat and the heat didn't help much either! I will try like all get out to make the next one, though! Looked like you all had a great time!!! Thanks for sharing all the pictures!!!

He was a great man, RIP!

Get the Satin finish, next time. I truely love mine! I need to see what other colors the scales come in, besides coyote and black!

Thanks Peejman! I'm going to sign up for both!!! You know, rabbits are fairly tasty!

I just saved that link for later!!! Thanks Prag!!!

Hey OS, what do you think about the CS Spike Tanto and the Boker Plus Besh-Wedge? I own the Spike, but I usually leave it in the car, due to the length. It's 8" long but very narrow. It's really a stiletto in the traditional sense, a skinny sharp pointed fixed blade. I'd the spike for a number of years. I've also seen the youtube vid of the fat guy cutting the manilla rope with one. It just seems awful long to be a hideout weapon.

Four Tennessee men face charges in gun sales
Moped replied to BLACKVANDRIVER's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I got to agree with these two statements. Moving a lot of firearms in a month or a year, is going to get you noticed, by someone, whether it's on the internet, showing up at every gun show with something to sale, posting several ads in papers or buying and selling at a flea market. We all know these people, because we see them all the time, including on this site. And it doesn't take long to figure out who is moving a lot of firearms here. -
I've really enjoyed reading about your alls gardens! And I think I've learned a lot. We always had a garden when I was growing up, but I've never had a garden since. We did plant a few tomato plants last year that had a nice yield and which we ate all of them, but that's about it. I'm going to have to look at doing the sq. ft. thing, since that's all the room I have. On rabbits, why not purchase an air rifle and make stew out of them? Air rifles powerful enough to take out rabbits can be had at Wallyworld for under $120. Meat on the table at an inexpensive price... pellets cost about $5 for 250 and you get another rifle to play with that should be suburban friendly! Lastly, have you all checked out the Mother Earth News and the Backwoodsmen. Both magazines have elements of self sufficiency and prepping, though Mother Earth News is less evident in the prepping aspect. Just a couple of thoughts. Oh, and I love the Lazy Man's Tiller! Brought a chuckle as I was setting here drinking my morning coffee!

It looks like a mini Ula. The Ula is an Eskimo knife that's used for a lot of different things from skinning game and processing hides to food prep. They aren't really meant as a defensive weapon, though I suppose they could be used for such, in a pinch. A neck knife isn't all about defense and actually would probably not be my favorite way to carry a defensive knife anyway, just because you have to fight the neck of your shirt to get it out. Seems slow. But it is a handy way to carry a utility knife. Still I perfer a small knife to be in the pocket or on the belt as opposed to the neck. That's where I plan on carrying the whichever small fixed blade I get. Right now I'm looking at a CRKT Minimalist Bowie, a Broker Gnome or a Broker Plus Rambler... Though that Boker Mini Bowie that OS showed me is growing on me too. Seems like a good design! The Minimalist and the Rambler are in the lead at the moment.
-
I might, but right now, I'm trying to decided between a CRKT Minimalist, a Boker Plus Rambler and a Boker Gnome. The Minimalist is in the lead at the moment, but I like the looks of the Bokers.

The company I work for, stopped paying any health insurance benefit last year. They work with the Insurance companies to provide us with plans, but we pretty much pay the whole thing, to the tune of almost $12,000 per year. Add an additional $2000 for an FSA and I'm spending around $14,000 per year for health care costs for me and my family, plus the deductible and co-pays. As for a Republican Congress and Romny overturning Obamacare, I don't see that happening either, unless they can win enough to capture the 60 votes in the Senate needed to override a filibuster and I don't see that happening. Then there is the fact that once a law is passed it's all but inpossible to get it over turned. This is Washington and money is power and Health Care is big money!!! I think we are stuck with this ladies and gents, no matter how much we dislike it.

I've been considering getting a CRKT Minimalist. These are getting rave reviews over on BushcraftUSA. But I do like the looks of the Lawdog. http://www.amazon.co...ords=Minimalist
