    Good Day!

    That's funny!
  3. Did the leaf thing last weekend. Went to the show today. So far the neighbors leaves are staying in their yard. Hope it stays that way! And we know you were joking about the gun stuff.
  4. The Tennessee Kentucky Post Game Show of course!
  5. Ok, blowing leaves or going to the gun show... blowing leaves or going to the gun show... I don't get it! That's a no brainer! A Bad Gun Show is better than blowing leaves any day of the week!
  6. Most of the tables were full. SKS's were running $250 and up. Saw AKs for less than $500. Cheapest AR I saw was $700 for a lite model (the ones with no sites). There was a table that had Mosin 91/30's for $129. Pistol wise, I saw nothing of interest. Sold what I came to sell and went home with nothing, but money.
  7. Saw AK's under $500 at the Show here in Knoxville today. SKS's were anywhere from $250 up to $400. Almost bought an AK74 with two of the bakelite mags and 400 rounds of ammo for $600. Just didn't know if that was a good deal or not. I don't know a lot about AK74s.
  8. This thread is worthless without pictures! Wish I could, but I will be working tomorrow, even though it's a holiday for my company. We got a bad deadline to make next week. Congrats on your purchase though! The SKS is a great rifle!
  9. It's an Enfield No. 2 Mk 1. The bobbed hammer tells me it's a tanker model. They bobbed the hammers so they wouldn't get snagged inside of the tank. It was the main British combat pistol during WWII and remained in service until the early 60's. I haven't a clue what it's worth. I found some on Gunbroker.com though. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=147726301 http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=147957810 http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=148101919 There were probably more, but that was all I cared to look at. Yours looks to be in a bit better shape than these and the cheapest one was $290. I find Gunbroker.com to be a little high on most things though. Congrats on a cool pistol that might have some cool history behind it!
  10. Turkey, dressing, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, rolls cranberry sauce and gravy. We had sweet potato pie and lemon pie for dessert.
  11. And Mike's slapping you on the beHIND!
  12. Once you hit 45 the brain is the first thing to go. I'm waiting on the lower parts to go now. Reckon then I'll have to start taking the little blue pill. Fortunately, that's not happened yet. The brain is shot though!
  13. The only time I had a FTF in my Glock, it was my fault. I was shooting reloads and apparently forgot to put some powder in one. Unfortunately the primer wasn't strong enough to push the bullet out the barrel. It hung about 3 inches in. We had to take a long screw driver and hammer it out. I was pretty embarrassed. It was shooting in an IPSC match at the time.
  14. Truat! It's funny how all my favorite guns are his designs. I had a Hi-Power that I loved until it got stolen in a burglary. I also have an Auto 5 12 gauge that is a fantastic shotgun. Bit heavy to carry for any length of time, but it's a shooter!!!
  15. JMB designed it that way. He was one smart cookie!
  16. I've found that 1911s tend to be a little tight out of the box. They need to be broke in. Once they are broke in though, they run fine. However my plastic has always ran flawlessly. Still there is just something about a 1911... Once you go there, it's hard to turn away!
  17. Hey, plastic is good too! I have one of those as well. It's the only pistol I've never traded. I gave it to my wife, so that wouldn't happen. Still get the benefits though. It goes to the range from time to time.
  18. I love 1911s! I have an older Springfield Operator in SS. Great shooting pistol!
  19. So that's the one! How does it shoot?
  20. Well you got one of them any way! The reason I asked was I posted about one of those Systemas over at Randy's Guns a couple of months ago. Which reminds me. I need to go another round to all the gun shops and see what new old items are on the shelves. Man, I'm getting the hankering for a new to me firearm bad!
  21. Those are good JustAGuy! Me just some white wine tonight. Nothing special.
  22. Why is it Mark@Sea has all the neat toys?
  23. Are you REALLY sure Wayne is a friend? I miss that place! It's a great range. Sadly I no longer work in Sevierville. I'm out near the PRoF (People's Republic of Farragut) now. It's a little closer to home, but the drive time is the same and by the time I get to work, I REALLY need a gun range! The drive over to Sevierville was much calmer and nicer!
  24. During the Iranian Hostage Crisis, didn't the plan for the aborted rescue operation call for a landing of C-130's on a carrier on the way out?
  25. Really bad joke KarlS. But I understand what you mean. I'm not a master of the recurve either. However all it takes is practice just like shooting. It would probably make sense to not only learn how to shoot them but to get totally into them to the point if you had to, make your on bow and arrows. You would never be unarmed after that. The reason I bring all this up is not to replace firearms, but to rather to save firearms for a defensive role instead of hunting/defensive role. Firearms are loud, by nature and may draw unwanted attention to the user in a survival situation. Primitive weapons offer a silent alternative for the hunting role. Besides bows there are also slings, spears, and throwing sticks. I've seen Survivor Man use a throwing stick to bring down a rabbit. All that said trapping is the way to go in order to supply fresh meat for the table. Not to mention fur for coats and leather for shirts and breeches. But other primitive weapons also have their place. A good flintlock rifle might be a part of your gear, if you can make powder or lead balls.
