  1. I need a considerable amount of dental work done, from my research it is going to be in the multi thousand dollar range, anywhere from 1-3 k per tooth, but I'm not sure that I have been looking at the right procedures either as I'm not a Dentist. I simply cannot afford to see a regular dentist at this time, not to mention the specialist the interwebz say I'm going to need to see. I start a new job with good pay in Dec, but dental is not currently offered by them.    Has anyone had experience utilizing a dental school to get discounted work done?     I have 3 broken teeth, one was broken in a way that part of the tooth lies at the gum line, plus several (sigh, at least 4)  teeth with missing fillings. Thats just what I'm aware of. I know I can't keep putting it off, but the idea of the bills alone is, well, off-putting. I know there are low cost clinics for those without insurance, even been to one. They told me they would pull the bad teeth for $50-$100 a pop, but thats it, nothing else they can do for people in my situation.  Thats 7 teeth missing, not cool. They also will only even Xray one tooth at a time, I told them I didn't know which was the issue as several of my problem teeth lie close together, plus as anyone who has ever had a broken tooth get infected knows, it doesn't effect the tooth, it effects that whole part of the mouth. They told me to pick one and hope I got lucky lol.   At this point I am not opposed to having the teeth pulled, but I don't want gaps in my grin, ya know? I'm really hoping for root canals, bridge work, or hope beyond hope, implants.   I know we have some dental professionals here, hopefully one of you can make a recommendation for a school that will see me, but I'm also curious if there is any info on pricing when having work done at one of the Nashville schools. I understand there is no way to accurately break down pricing, but if anyone has even a rough idea it could help me plan out a course of action, it would very appreciated. I do know that I can call and make an appointment, but before doing so I'd like to ask the TGO community if any of you have been in a similar boat and ask for your guidance, I can't make appointments at every dental school and suss the vibe, cost etc. plus from what I'm reading once they get you they really want to keep you since a student is assigned to you. I don't want to flake out on anyone, so I'm more than likely to stick with my initial choice and would like it to be an educated one. So before I go making calls any advice would be greatly appreciated.     Thanks all.
  2. good catch Tee. I had my suspicions as well, OP and I went back and forth via PM for the better part of a few hours when he posted this. I typed out multi paragraph responses, he would send back one or two sentence. It got really old really fast, but, I don't want to be the kind of guy who tells someone in crisis to pound sand, so on and on the game went.     OP, if you are reading this, go piss up a rope.
  3. Congratulations KKING, you should be proud.
  4. I wish you had been on TGO chat last night HP, I tried to posit that Roy was the coolest dude ever and got shot down like a turkey before thanksgiving. At least SOMEONE has some sense.

  6. Glad it is working out for you Murg. Go get that Jackson now, you earned it!
  7.     Thats a great idea, in theory. In reality, a leg shot, assuming one can hit it in the first place, can be fatal, more so than even a center of mass shot. The femoral artery takes up a big chunk of space on a leg, especially for a skinny guy.    There was a really great article in Police magazine several years ago detailing an officer involved shooting in NYC IIRC. A police officer was working a patrol in (again, IIRC) Times square when she was attacked by a man with a knife. Lacking time and distance, she  drew, and while bringing her gun up, shot him right in the hips. It went on to say that while it wasn't intentional targeting, it was a move that likely saved her life as the attacker was very close to striking distance. Any number of center of mass shots may not have stopped him from committing his act, but he was simply physically unable to continue moving forward with an instantly shattered hip.     Im not suggesting trying for a hip shot, or any other, but I think the incident clearly shows that not all 'ideal' shots always are, and some less than idea ones can prove to be just the ticket.

  9. I'd go ahead and pay the ticket, and check and see if your insurance will take traffic school. You don't want a rate increase. It sounds like you both handled yourselves fine.
  10. I would love to hear a slowed down ting tang walla walla bing bang.
  11. it doesn't end with the 3 songs on the list in the link either! I'm listening to a sludge metal version of My Sharona now. Whats sludge metal you ask? I don't know, but I'm digging it!
  12. I love it! Call me sounds like a metal song with a funky cool groove and a guttural noise. HIAPOE is just the business this way. This is the way these should have been presented in the first place.
  13. At this point I think I would sooner ask my brothers dog for training than James Yeager.
  14. I have a confused.  :ugh:  Do you want me to buy a big mac for a vet? Cause I can do that, but I'm just not quite sure if thats whats what here.   Please elaborate further so I can participate in this the 'buy number 4'.                   How ya been Dusty, have seen you about as much.
  15. I see your point, after all grits are probably terrible for you by the time they're doctored up to taste with all the butter, cheese, salt and pepper and all.     :yum:     Well that kicked it, I'm going to have a big bowl of cheese grits with diner tonight. I'll eat an extra big one in your honor Bersa.
  16.   A 1/2 cup of grits and you have pretty much the perfect meal!
  17.     My dad had his unmarked cruiser broken into while having lunch once. Didn't get anything sensitive IIRC, but did take a nice ring of his. Some people, I'm surprised they can walk with balls that big or brains that small.
  18. Moes is actually pretty dang good for strip mall style bbq, the owner is confused on his sausage selection though. BBQ sausage should NOT start out life as Italian. No defamation of a proud people or their food, but Italian sausage belongs on pizza, not next to my greens, mac'n cheese and banana pudding.        The banana pudding was off the charts good though.
  19. Yeah, saw Lizzy and crew twice this year, once at a record shop on record day or whatever, then again at the Ryman. It was a great show both times and she can really belt it too. Plus the record store gig was in the high 80's at least and she was still out and chilling with people in her leather jacket and pants, so she's either very committed to her persona, or the real deal DGAF rocker she seems to be.   One of her entourage yelled at me for being to close to a tent or something? I couldn't really understand what she was saying but she was like 3' 5" or something and came up finger wagging and yelling like I had stomped a puppy  it was a great show.
  20. Gerst Haus is the schnitzel. You may think mom made a good fried baloney sandwich, but until you've had one made with their special bologna, you haven't lived. Plus they have beer cheese, and if you ask for a serving without ordering anything that normally comes with it, they don't make a thing out of it, they just bring you a big bowl of that delicious goopy, golden perfection.   Also, I know you didn't say pizza, but I'm going to go ahead and recommend a trip down to old chigaco pizza in nashville if you or your friend is into real pie style pizza, it's awesome in a box.
  21.     My exact order every time I go. Hard to mess with Burger Republic, great beer selection too.
  22. Horse hucky. I don't know that I'd try to go for machine gun like double bass hits, but I don't see you as the heavy metal type anyway :D. If your expectation is to have fun and develop, I can't see how anyone would be too old to start or restart an instrument IMO.
  23.     Very good advice actually. I went a little crazy when I got here and started racking up guns like no tomorrow. I haven't bought a new one all this year (I think?) and STILL have some I haven't got around to shooting yet. Too much of a good thing... Is still a good thing :D
  24.    Someone to nerd out on guitar stuff on TGO chat!   Murg, let me make a recommendation right off the bat that will save you mucho aggravation and even a bit of expense.    http://www.amazon.com/Guitar-Player-Repair-Guide-3rd/dp/0879309210/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1445709483&sr=8-1&keywords=dan+erlewine   Is the quintessential guide for taking your maintenance into your own hands. This book contains all the information in Dans other book 'how to make your guitar play and sound great' and ads to it with a bit of repair info. Really highly recommended.    Most all this stuff is criminally easy, but among players there is a bit of a stigma sometimes with DIY setups I'll never understand. A guy like you likely has about every tool he's going to need already, but there may be a few to buy yet. Oh the humanity, buying tools :panic: ....
