  1. Those are great pictures. I can't wait to the next one. I'll be wearing a lil more traditional clothing and have a blanket roll and stuff next time. I know you can camp primtive with a .22 rifle and a strike a light bag, but I love the fur trapper era.
  2. I use it for my beard, but I'm out at the moment. It keeps it from getting wild and crazy looking, though I've used different things. Now that I know that hobby lobby has it, I'll be getting some more.
  3. I can't find my pics of you in full skins, with war belt on. I really hope someone has some though. I'm gonna start making me some bags up soon, that way next time around I can camp real mountain man style. Also need to get some canvas for a bed roll.
  4. This is spot on. Dave was overly generous, and welcomed everyone with open arms, no matter what kinda clothes you wore, guns you carried, or skills you possessed or didn't possess. He also gave away lots of gear to help others get started and get an intrest. Dave, I've been working that hide, its coming along well. I'll be making me a possibles bag, coffee bag, hard tack, pemmican, and jerky bag, and tons of other stuff out of that leather. Again Dave and Don thanks for a wonderful time, and a true learning experience. Edit: The long johns are because he lost his marbles and somehow forgot that it was 100+ degrees and he was putting on long johns and a full set of buckskins.
  5. Don, and Dave did do it primitive style. Everyone else used what they had. I slept on an old army sleeping bag cause I dont have a bedroll. I thought people on here wanted to encourage meets and get togethers, not run down stuff they didnt show up for? Just saying, I was always taught if you can't say nothing nice, then dont say nothing.
  6. I posted the link up the page. Its in the show and tell section.
  7. Yep thats it. Somebody said it was Marks they thought. If you want I can drop it in the mail, or just get it to you at the next meet. Mark that pouch is cool, about how big is it? Its hard to tell with no reference point in the picture.
  8. The Dark Knight Rises..... I can't wait
  9. Yeah I was sorry to see you go Mark. Also I think I have something of yours. Its an eating container, let me know if its yours and I'll throw it in the mail. Also, please post your pics here so we can get everything in one place.
  10. For all those who attended the meet Fri. night and Saturday at my place, please feel free to post your pictures up. Don getting dressed wearing union suit long johns and buckskins. Note that the temp. was hovering around 100-105 with high humidity. Don teaching and showing his blanket roll Items from the trade blanket, gifts, and purchases. First my gift from Dave was three beautiful hides, one of which I am tanning right now. The hides are the big white ones in my pictures. My leather belt, holsters, the tomohawk, 'hawk cover, and 'hawk belt loop where all purchased from Mark@sea. If you have ANY leather needs, please consider mark for any purchases. His work is beyond awesome, as can be attested by all people who saw his leather work at the camp. Items from Daves trade blanket. Big thanks to Dave for the gifts, your a brother for life now, you and Don both. Plains moccasins, I camped in these last night Kitchen knifes, the top smaller one is gonna be my camp butcher knife from now on. Small smoked hide, this may be a shooting bag for my cap and ball revolvers. If you have any pictures, please post them up, I'm interested to see what got taken during the meet,.
  11. Yeah knowing if its a black snake or a cottonmouth is super important. In other states wete they are of course, cause the creek this weekend didnt look like a perfect breeding ground and I didnt kill on in a pond up home a few years back. Of course, identifying a snake can be hard when they are under a brush pike where your trying to get wood, etc. If a snake leaves me alone Ill leave it alone most of the time. But if I need something that he has taken resdience in, we are gonna have an issue.
  12. Thats alright, I'm sure there will be a next time. I'm liking that idea of a fall walkabout in the mountains around home. Shoo some squirrel for supper, and just camp under the trees and stars in the middle of 72k acres
  13. Well we had PB&J for supper and eggs and salt pork for breakfast so not so good lol. But it was nice to get another night under the stars. I can't wait to do another one in the fall
  14. Hey guys, first off I want to send a big thank you out to everyone who showed up, and I'm glad everyone made it safely. And a special thanks to Don (Timestepper) and Dave (wd-40) for showing up in hot, non breathable period correct clothing and sharing with us. The trade blanket was awesome, and the hides I was given will go to good use. I've already started practicing with my hawk throwing, and planning for a fall Rendezvous at my old mans place in the mountains. I'd like to see some trade blankets and home made warez at that one also. Anyways thanks for coming guys, I had an awesome time and hope you did too Also a big thanks to pat and his boy for camping again last night and just sitting around bull####ting
  15. Thanks guys. I cant wait to strap it on for the first time today/tommorow. And yeah Mark does excellent work.
  16. I wish you rednecks would hurry up and get here. Im bored
  17. K let me make it a lil easier. When you turn onto my road by Jonesville Methodist church call me.
  18. To everyone who is coming out. This is my phone number, please, Please, PLEASE call me when you are 5 to 10 minutes out from my house. I'm assuming everyone has navigator or GPS, but I'll have to tell you were to park and how to get to the campsite. For people who have problems with heat, you can park in the field, but I'd like to keep that to a minuimun of only those who really need too. Thanks guys Jordan/Spots 850-776-8205
  19. Well Mark@sea sent me a message today saying he was done with my leather work. If its 1/2 as nice in person as it is in pics, It'll be the best piece of leather I've ever owned. Heres whats going in it first off 1851 Navy in .36 1858 Army in .44 And heres the leather. Belt is 3" wide Sorry, I'm just so excited for this I had to post
  20. My best estimate is 12-15 people, Idk how many kids though. Glad to gear you guys are coming out and I'm happy to hear that hes bringing some toys for us to look at. On a side note, please everyone keep in mind this is a primtive survival get together, not a shooting meet. Some shooting is ok, but I dont want it to end up sounding like a warzone or having brass everywhere. Thank you to everyone who has agreed to bring stuff. You guys are awesome
  21. TS is right, if you have issues with ground seating, bring a chair. Also if you will be showing up before 500 pm I need to know asap. I have to pick my wife up at 400, so if your gonna be here before or during that time I need to let you know whats going on.
  22. Yeah no kidding. Pics or GTFO lol. Now you'll have the same setup I just bought
  23. First holster is almost done. He said he needs to trim it and punch the thong holes for the hammer tie down. I think it looks so amazing. I can't believe how good it looks so far.
  24. That looks so good man. I can't wait to strap them on
