  1. And if they are one in the same, well, welcome to the in-laws house!
  2. I am truly sorry for your loss. It always hurts. My interest in firearms was, believe it or not, my grandmother. I had always been around hunting and fishing growing up, that's just how my entire family is. It was my "Nanny", however, that saw that a boy of 6 needed a .22 (as well as an ample supply of hunting knives) for killing "squirrels and such", much to the chagrin of my mother. She died 16 years ago, but has always been a part of my life in all of the interests that she inspired: She was the first, and only until me, college graduate and pushed me to excel in everything i did. She is missed sorely, especially when I think about things like this.
  3. Giving a couple of blades for Christmas. A Buck 110 for each of my nephews now that they have come of age: one 10 and one soon to be 9 (18 months apart, just like me and my brother when we got ours). However, for me, I'm really liking the ESEE 4 with the OD green blade and orange handle. . . . . .
  4. Ding Ding Ding! Ruger Super Redhawk. Fantastic firearm..
  5. I know this may sound stupid: Crisco right after a bath. Recommended by the pediatrician many years (10, to be exact) ago to me. Used it on two children who suffered from Eczema and "cradle cap". Works great.
  6. I guess I'm a little low-brow, but I prefer Ontario and Camillus fixed blades, SOG and CRKT folders, and Woodman's Pal Machetes.
  7. Chattanooga Whiskey Company This is a new one coming out in February. Pretty excited about it as it's distilled locally, and headquartered in the city.
  8. Freudian slip?
  9. Leatherheads was fantastic.
  10. Picked up my P-22 a few years back at Sportsman's Warehouse for $200, and my son's Mossberg semi .22 for $69 at Dicks. Actually, my wife did. I stay at home since I would rather have my eyeballs pulled out than fight the crowd. The wife lives for it, though.....
  11. I'm thinking the most inconvenient part would be having to deal not only going to a craft fair with your wife (signed papers on that, I just have to suck it up), but to have two of her friends with you. You, sir, were being punished all the way around. by the way, were any runners flattened by a wildebeest? (sorry, own personal agenda against rampaging wildebeest with that one)
  12. Having quite a bit of fun so far. Even though I prefer to live rural, it's nice to visit places like this. Everyone has been very polite, though my wife does not like the women asking me to "say something southern US". These guys switch from French to English seamlessly. Pretty impressive.
  13. So, leaving in the a.m. for Montreal for two weeks (working vacation - oxymoron, I know). Anyone make any recommendations? I'll be staying around the Bell Centre at the "Le Nouvel" hotel. Anyone know anything about the underground city, or where I should visit for sightseeing?
  14. "Don't Vote; It Just Encourages the Bastards" - P.J. O'Rourke
  15. This is why I am pulling for LSU. I will never root for Bummer to win a game. Go Vols! Go to H*** Alabama!
  16. Not yet. Still touching and trying as many as she can. Thanks to all for the recommendations.
  17. So, looking at the Sony higher end point and shoots, specifically the Sony Cyber Shot DSC-HX100V. Any opinions on this one? http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Cyber-Shot-DSC-HX100V-Digital-Vario-Tessar/dp/B004H8FND0
  18. The current camera we have "takes too long" to actually snap the picture and re-set to take another picture (continual "gotta go!" from the 2yr old). That is her take on it, anyway. By the way, thanks for all the responses guys. It is appreciated.
  19. Thanks, guys After looking around for the last couple of days, I get the feeling that I am asking the camera equivalent of "what's the best .45?". Very general, I just don't know any better. What's the DSLR stand for?
  20. So, my wife has decided that she needs to upgrade cameras. Up to this point, we have always had the point & shoot stuff like the Sony Cybershot and Cannon something or other. Basically <$200 cameras. Any advice from the photo guys on here that won't completely break the bank? Please bear in mind that I am completely camera ignorant, and any advice is appreciated. Thanks!
  21. Might want to take a look at the Ruger M77 in .223. Personally, I think they have a smoother action than the 700's or the Savages. My humble opinion.
  22. know what I don't like?? wildebeest jumping out of nowhere onto bikes, cars, people, stray cats, and the occasional hitchhiker. Something has to be done about these things. Wait, what was this thread about again?
  23. My favorite knife that sees the most use (by far) is my Camillus Hunter. Has cut everything from game to trees to being used as a camp steak knife, and cutting up fire starting stuff. Absolutely love this knife as a do all. (My Gerber LMF is a close second) (sorry for the crappy cell pic) Of course, my very favorite knife is a Buck 110 that sees no more action than me pulling it out and reminiscing about my childhood (first BIG "grown up" knife - present from my now deceased grandmother)
  24. BWAAAAHAAAAAHAAAAAHAAAAA! That, that is fantastic. Vulgar, but captures the vulgar feel of Americans towards our continually incompetent .gov.
