Greatest US soldier you may have never heard of...
ArmyBrat61 replied to jaxjohn419's topic in General Chat
The Col. was given plenty of recognition ....by his soldiers and buddies.....it is the Army way of life. He did his job, an excellent job, and was awarded time and again from those that "get it". My Dad is the same way..... -

As far as the chambering goes...it is better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. I had a Remmy 1100 years ago and really did not like being restricted to 2 3/4 inch shells. My Winnie 1300 takes up to 3 inch shells and it is nice to switch from 2 3/4" for skeet and small game to 3" for ducks and geese. JMHO......

Guidelines Regarding Law Enforcement Threads on TGO
ArmyBrat61 replied to MacGyver's topic in General Chat
There are many facets to this discussion and to the broader subject of topics that we, as adults, feel passionate about. I look at the "LE threads" with a critical eye for whatever details are known and are proven true. When the Boston bombing happened, I was appaled at the military approach/vehicles/tactics involved because it reminded me of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Both happened outside TN but affect us here, should we not discuss those events? Of course we should. Do we call for the participating LE agency members heads on pikes? Of course not. I do not paint LE with any broad brush, as that treatment was metted out to my beloved Army during/after Vietnam, but the abuses of the "few" are becoming more and more commonplace across the country. We live in a well connected, communication society. Perceived slights/abuse/brutality are in the " instant upload to social media" arena. I believe it would be a dis-service to squelch or appear to censor discussion of events from outside the state borders. We are adults and gentlemen. The trolls and trouble makers should not be given a platform to stir the sh*t pot or, by their existence, prevent us from genuine discourse. It has been stated in previous posts that we police ourselves. I ask the Moderators to continue to moderate yet allow honest discussion. Gentlemen, I thank you for your efforts on this board. I quite enjoy reading, disagreeing and sharing with those of like mind and spirit and I hope that it continues unabated. -
The best way to defeat this new technology .......don't use it. The surveillance is voluntary (at this point) and the catch/hook is the golly-gee-wizz-bang of the device. The new cars are computer hackable (I have an older vehicle) the new mega size TVs have video cameras installed (mine is 8 years old, works fine) and the phones are being monitored by .gov (known that for years, still have my flip phone)......I refuse to participate in the voluntary gathering/mining of what my life choices are.....that's also why I have curtains on my windows.

We have one in Elizabethton and my wife and I were grinning from ear to ear the evening we went. The sights, sounds, smells and memories flooded back from when we were kids. The line was about 50 cars long to get in but well worth the time as we people watched. Kids never really change when they are allowed to play and run...they were half of the entertainment! I dare say you were in a line of memory minded folk out for a nice evening....very normal indeed. :usa:
