I say shame on all of you who is even giving CTG a chance from their last stunt. Does this surprise anyone at all that they are gouging people? But then again they are from Texas and that seems to be the Texas way these days. Fool you once shame on them. Fool you twice sham on you....

Trying to find a crate of Mosins
I_Like_Pie replied to AlvinCYork's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
I once saw a crate of Mosins with the lid replaced with glass, used for a coffee table
My wife would break the glass and shoot me with one of them if I tried to do that... However it would be the absolute most bad arsed coffee table in the history of coffee tables!!!!! -
Will it blend?

Well at least they were cheaper than dirt...they do have that going for them.

So what calibers do you NOT reload.
I_Like_Pie replied to Tennjed's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
You can reload rimfire--difficult, dangerous and not recommended.
Yep...not to derail the topic, but there is a sizable group who pulls .22 magnum bullets out and stuff the big 60 grain + bullets for the .223 in there. Back on topic...If I can't reload it - I don't shoot it. Can't even bring myself to shoot factory ammo. -
I am assuming that it will be for HCP If so..It is a little thick and bottom line is that it will all depend on your size and finding the proper holster. If you can make it work...that gun carries an amazing amount of controllable power for its size.

Just Purchased a Buck 119 Special with Cocobolo Handle
I_Like_Pie replied to Seabeejason's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
They are GREAT knives and you did well. There have been several put to hard use by everyone in my family for decades now. They are hard to re-sharpen razor sharp for some reason, but fortunately they keep their edge very well. -
I may be the odd one here, but customer service is by far not a top consideration for me. From buying autos, tvs, services, guns, etc., price is alone at the top! I have always been a do it my self kinda of person, so customer service is more at the bottom to me. I have had so many new car salesman push service, and I just laugh. That is why I will drive to Atlanta to save $500 on a new car purchsae. My time is cheap.
Same here - If I could buy from a vending machine and eliminate the retail person altogether I would be happy. Totally unneeded by me. Don't laugh off that mindset...That is why Amazon.com is the current superstar of the retail world right now.

In some cases the Walmart models are actually fancier models than sold elsewhere....The "Wallyworld" special 10/22 model is a prime example. In the 90's they were stainless with the pepper/green laminate. In the 00's they were deluxe sporter models with 22" barrels.....only place you could buy them was Wal mart. the 2000's models in particular sell for quite a premium now on the used market.

I heard that they microchip the guns, use RFID, and scan your face when you are purchasing the firearms. They put the data in a special database that is sold for marketing purposes. An extra copy is delivered to Feinstein and the Brady group so that when they come for the guns...they will know exactly where to go. Bloomberg machines serve double duty to track all owners in real time. The gun's receivers are made from grade BB chinese pot metal and the wood made from a 2x4 soaked in dioxin. But other than that they are 100% like any other gun sent via a distributor.

The bullets alone for 7.62x39 will cost you more than surplus ammo. .223 is also a much better cartridge to reload.
-
That looks like a really fancy mold!
-
Here is a hint....the case holders that fit in your press also fit in the puller...just like the "universal" one that comes with it. Saves time if you have a couple to pull.

Suggestions on home defense shotguns
I_Like_Pie replied to jwinter's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
There is one for sale here, 650, not a bad price.
I guess not...considering you could buy 4 Used mossbergs for that much and still have enough left over for ammo. -
Suggestions on home defense shotguns
I_Like_Pie replied to jwinter's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Take $200 and find a used 500 or 870. Honest preference is where you like the safety selector. There is really nothing more to it than that really. You can spend more or get a little more sophisticated with more money, but these will fit the bill nicely.
a shotgun just point in the general direction, and no accuracy is required.
Ummm...No -
I don't have any of the revolvers in question, but have a few of their predecessors. Don't rule out something like this S&W Model 17 with 8 3/8" full underlug barrel.
Holy cow...I have the identical twin of that gun....it is a great shooter. It would take quite an obscene amount of money for me to ever part with mine. The grips alone are worth over $100 if they are factory S&W

You know those canvas or plasticshoe holders that your wife hangs on the inside of her closet door to hold shoes? They are perfect for holding 1# containers of powder in your man room/closet/storage area. Tie racks are great for rifle slings too. /The more you know.... :-)
-
Don't rule out a stainless Bearcat....awesome little pistols.
That's a crazy ballistics chart. Who sights their 30-30 or 45-70 in at 200 yards??? It would mean more if the zero was at 100 and then you could see the drop at 150.
both, if loaded right, are genuine 200 yard guns. You can bullseye either caliber at 150 yards and have an almost perfect deer sized point blank at 0-200. Not on springfield loads for the 45/70, but a standard 300 grainer at 2000fps.
-
45/70 is the way to go....but only if you are a reloader (and preferrably a caster too) I reload mine for $ amounts that you simply would not believe (hint - well below $5 a box) LOOOOOOVE 45/70. However - Don't knock 30/30. It is a great cartridge, also easy to reload, and responds well for cast bullets. If you load up some 100 grain 30 carbine bullets it can be a real screamer too...

ATF and a can of moly grease for less than $10 are all I will ever need for the rest of my life. acetone and kerosene mixed with the ATF is my Hoppes substitute. Many, many thousands of rounds and nothing other than normal usage wear on any of my guns. I still use CLP as a wipe down.

How many guns before you are hoarding them?
I_Like_Pie replied to walton6467's topic in General Chat
If the value of the guns is approaching the value of the house they are in -or- If you are going though the safe and find a gun you don't remember buying .....it may be considered hoarding. Know quite a few people like this. Despite what everyone will say....there is a point when it gets a out of control -
Buy everything you can now before they change that policy....They are losing their shirt selling a SR1911 at 20% off
-
Yeah...The design was, I suspect, to be able to shoot old 30 cal mil surps, but works just fine in the30/30
