  1. Looks like a Leupold FX-II IER Scout Scope. They are nice!
  2. If you are ever in Chattanooga I have a midway tumbler setup complete with media and sifter new in box...as well as a lee scale that I would let go for a good price.
  3. That metal filler is amazing. have also used it for various gunsmithing things...I makes the hardest bedding material I have ever used. Also fills aluminum perfectly before painting. I have heard nothing but good things about the plastic weld too. I have used the white to fix broker kids toys, but have never used it for anything gun related.
  4. Because they would be asking questions they already have their answer for. It would likely be verbal sparring/confrontational and not accomplish anything.
  5. Don't make a scene - Vote with your wallet - use a $2 if you got it. - you don't have to buy coffee. Hot Coco or bagel will do. It is very possible that enough attention will be brought to this that a very (as you are well aware) internet pro 2a community would create quite a blip on the 14th of Feb. Certainly won't be the news that the brady bunch is expecting.
  6. Think about it this way....how much lead does your .22 rifle have in the barrel? Caster is right.
  7. LOL - Those were the days. I miss shooting a lot like that. Would tell people how much and some folks just wouldn't believe me. Harder to do now that I have a 3 year old. ...still have a 5 gallon bucket full of decapped primers in the shop. Valger - with practice you will be dropping lead like a pro. Learning curve is a bit overwhelming at first, but you build a rhythm and it gets easy quickly. For the love of all things good - wear protection!!! Sweat from your brow will ruin your day.
  8. LOL - Expensive addiction.
  9. Another secret of a good reloader..... You don't have to clean your brass if you don't want to. Some folks say that it wears out the dies faster. That may be true, but I have some .38 dies that have been loading thousands of uncleaned brass every year for the better part of 3 decades now and they are no worse for wear.
  10. Same with many centerfire pistols too...3rd generation S&W, Beretta 92, Etc
  11. The advantage is the high sectional density bullets crammed in to what is by all measures a belt-less magnum cartridge. The result in a VERY flat shooting gun. My M77 is zeroed in at 270 yard point blank. Basically the balistics allow me to put the crosshairs on the vitals of a deer from 0-400 yards with a solid hit. That is a huge advantage....if you see a deer with an unaided eye you will hit it without the need for rangefinder or fiddling with the scope. Not many other cartridges can do this. The 117 grain speer bullets that have been made for what seems forever are about the best hunting bullet made. some lighter 80 grainers are pushing 3750 fps and work well on varmints if your shoulder can handle it....coyote and groundhog basically explode. Only other versatile cartridge that may be its match is the .243. Another of the most underrated cartridges that has ever been chambered. The bad - unless you are a reloader then this is not for you....buy a 30/06 or 270 like the rest of the folks who like shopping for ammo at Wal-Mart. They are good cartridges, but really aren't suited to multi role like the 6.5 or 6mm chamberings.
  12. cdnn has them for $398 + $14 shipping to your FFL.
  13. Simply rugged makes their "sourdough pancake" silver dollar holster. One of the best made for a smaller revolver like the SP. Mine works with my J-frame too.
  14. Drive down the road with your window down....Now reach out and smack a mailbox. It is kinda like that with full snort .357 though a 12 ounce pistol.
  15. That thing would be the perfect gun for a 9mm can on the end and some semi wadcutter 38s. Ultimate pest control! I have played with a couple of them...they are very compact rifles. Heck a standard 18" 10/22 looks big beside them.
  16. Think a single six is scarce....How many used Bearcats come up these days? Funny thing is that 15 years ago people looked at the .22 ruger revolvers and said "Why?" Certainly isn't the case now....they are a hot item!!! I have a friend with a birdshead 4 5/8" single six with fixed sights - stainless....it is about the coolest gun I have ever seen.
  17. They are guns that will be cherished for generations...I am not sure that people who haven't sit down and fiddled with one realize how good they really are. Some of them can shoot really, really good too.
  18. The perfect revolver for a .32 cartridge is the one Ruger makes on the Single Six platform. (not the newer one based upon the blackhawk). This gun in the 6 1/2" barrel is almost a perfect hunting pistol for small game/trappers. I am surprised they aren't more popular in lever guns either. .32 H&R is a fantastic little cartridge - Particularly with reloaders who are fans of shooting the .22 magnum, but not the cost of the ammo.
  19. Just as an FYI - The felt recoil isn't reduced like people lead on. It is still a pretty ferocious cartridge enough to where fast follow up shots require practice. The bad thing is that it (like its siblings) will end up being a reloaders cartridge
  20. Don't read us wrong....they are EXCELLENT guns. They just aren't fetching crazy prices on the market these days because police departments are dumping them for newer guns. That is the perfect gun for coyote at 100 yards
  21. If in new shape it is worth about $500. The market of late has been flooded with PD trade ins. CDNN and GT distributors both had some 181-183 Stainless ones with the flash hider for under $450 in the past couple of months. Many see the 181 series worth a little less than current manufacture due to lightweight barrels that string quite a bit when warming up and the lack of any scope mounts or easy way to mount optics. They are actually great guns, but aren't worth the crazy money that AR variants bring.
  22. Hixson does... Signal Mtn Cleveland Ooltewah I am sure there is another
  23. Have considerable experience with these guns...the reason why they have problems if anyone wants to know the real secret - is ...wait for it ...wait for it The extractor. they are stamped parts and for whatever reason some just don't grab the rim right, don't reset over it when the gun is in battery, or hits against the barrel channel relief cut. The "easy" fix is to buy a top quality extractor. The one that is free, but a little work is to use the extractor tuning tutorial for the 10/22 found on rimfirecentral.com. FYI the extractor for the 10/22, MKI, II, III, 22/45 and Standard automatic are exactly the same part. Other than that they are pretty much trouble free guns. I don't care for the features of the MKIII and prefer the previous versions, but they are all solid guns.
  24. I would see if someone would trade that mold with you for a 125 on one of the casting sites....125 is easy peasy to load and cast for. Anything over 150 - not so much!!!
