  1. Probably isn't because everyone is now buying it....more likely that manufacturers just aren't making it.   They are all tooled up for the military cartridges 24/7 and everything else is running dry.
  2. Run  a compression check on each cylinder...cheap and easy way to see if it is a cylinder ring problem.  Get tool from harbor freight with coupon or rent one from O'reilys.  If one is 15%+ off the others you have a problem...or if ALL of them are low your have another problem.   someone mentioned PCV valve... stuck open will blow oil right into intake.       For less than $1000 and a weekend of decent work you should be able to swap that engine out if the car is worth it to you.  If no rust and nice paint I would say that it is about time around 200k
  3. My guess is that those reloads were using bullets way too heavy for the caliber due to the reloader being lazy.  You can stuff a 115 grain bullet designed for 9mm in .380.  There are all sorts of things that work against you when you are dealing with a big bullet in a small case with very, very little variation in powder causing major pressure spikes....that bullet sets back .05 of an inch and you could have a 10,000+ psi pressure spike.   There isn't enough case capacity for a double charge even with bullseye or titewad.  Big bullet and setback caused that mess.  Was not likely a squib.
  4. Crap....I just spent the evening smelting 500 pounds of reclaimed bullets today.     Even though I think I do everything right (fans, detox clothing, baths, don't bite nails, etc) - You got me paranoid man...I'll end up with an ingrown toenail or canker sore and think I am about to die of lead poisoning.   Glad that you are OK and improving.
  5. Yep...Secret is out and I am glad they are getting the attention they deserve.   I should have specified Mike Symbala at mastercast.net they are a great, great business.
  6. Fescue + crossbow is the combination that works well in my part of the state...Several people have zoysia, but it is hard to get it started over large patches without spending large money.
  7. Ya have to be careful with the Dillon presses and 45 acp these days.  You pick up your range stuff thinking you have recovered yours, but pick up some of the ones made for small pistol primers (what were they thinking by doing this)   Try slamming a large primer in a small 45 pocket...a pop is bound to happen.   Always wear goggles is the rule
  8. Mastercast is a top notch, family run business.  If you call them you will get Mike or his wife every time.  They are honest and cast great bullets.   Prices are good too!!! I have never had any problems with them and you will likely have the same experience.
  9. Why is it even an issue on the table for the BSA?  Are they worried that the scouts are going to be boinking each other during the pine box derby tournament?   I mean seriously...How many 10 year olds associate themselves as gay?  Heck - when I was that age all I cared about was burning ants with a magnifying glass.
  10. Please, please, please read this.  Your wife has beautiful eyes.  It will cause no harm to wear safety glasses and she has everything to lose by not doing so.   I can't count how many times I have been at the range or at a competition and heard "Wow...I sure am glad you were wearing eye protection" If this advice isn't taken - I am afraid it is a matter of time before something unwanted finds its way in her eyes.
  11. water + time will do that.  Water gets in the structure of the wood then mold spores and dirt do the rest.   You are going to have a heck of a time getting that to all match.   Not sure if you will get it "original" looking.  You can try some straight bleach on the spotted area to lighten it up, but if that stripper didn't remove it I am not sure what would get it off.     You can try to go darker...I have had luck with red, brown, or green rit dye, but have had little luck with stain without a bunch of time and it still didn't look right. Have even  painted one black with quite a bit of success   Good luck...LOVE projects like that.  Post pics when finished.
  12. The dillon rules the roost on 45 acp.  You have to shoot a LOT for the price over the single stage setup will be worth it.
  13. I would use a single stage press with a cartridge of that size and type of shooting you will do with it   The Dillon's are the best progressives for various reasons...however that rifle cartridge isn't one you will crank out hundreds of rounds per session. Much of the fun will be finding the best recipe for that gun.  This involves many different powders, charges, and bullets. In short....any ole single stage press and a decent set of dies will be ideal for that cartridge.   I have several dillon presses for most handgun cartridges, but aside from .223 I see no need for one to be used on rifle cartridges considering the lower volume of shooting and differences in loading bottlenecks.  I load straight wall rifle rounds too (45/70 and .444) and still only shoot them enough to use the single stage.
  14. Yep.  Those 3 can load any handgun cartridge made in the past 100 years....and do it better than just about anything.
  15. I was jogging at Riverpark here in Chattanooga a couple of weeks ago....There was one stretch near amnicola where I saw no fewer than 100 rabbits.  Could have filled the freezer with nothing more than a slingshot.
  16. Lazarus was a zombie?     That is just the thing to bring up during Sunday school....Nice.
  17. What really makes you mad is almost running over 4 or 5 of them on the way back home.
  18. Like others have mentioned...it is going to be another single stack .45
  19.   Wouldn't they have known that when they paid extra money for a ticket to enter the theater with the device in place?
  20. I am near North Chattanooga/Hixson and can help.  Can even bring you to the club to shoot them if you would like to go from start to finish. Have been reloading for decades and can show you the ins and outs of all of it.   PM me if interested.  I work a lot for the next week or so (am an accountant) but I am sure that we could meet up for a couple of hours and load up a couple of boxes.   There weren't many people at the CRC sessions in '12
  21. I would pay extra money to watch a movie if the theater had them.
  22. I dehydrate a lot of bananas.  The $1 bags at my grocery has 4 or 5 pounds in there sometime.  I have no doubt they would last years in the right conditions.   Tomatoes and Peppers are also a favorite.  They both have a LOT of sugar that really pops when dehydrated.  I must have dried 5 gallons of each this summer due to an unusually large crop.     Almost all veggies will work just fine....makes great soup mixes.   Thing is that you have to make sure everything is fresh and clean from start to finish...The bad apple rule applies here.   I do a lot of jerky also.  London Broil honestly makes the best...after all the different meats I have tried...everything else is distant 2nd.  Lean and a grain that sucks up the seasonings.
  23. Send me your address via PM.   I believe I have a set of wolf springs NIB laying around in my shop,  I'll send them to you.
  24.     My sister and brother in law live in Tokyo and have for many years.  Having heard and seen the culture in person....that whole nation is a load of basketcase jackwagons.
