  1. My only complaints with reads is the digital waiting list for blockbuster titles and the fact that they aren't really droid friendly. I understand that licensing is involved but I'd be happy paying a nominal fee to assist with having more licenses for titles. When A Song of Ice and Fire (game of thrones) hit hbo, i was just about to start book 4 and suddenly there's 90 people on the waiting list...knowing most of these bozos just reserved them all despite the fact the would have 40+ hours on each book.
  2. http://www.reddit.com/r/guns/comments/1fiu1y/my_short_barrel_fully_suppressed_m4_that_i_built/caasovk?context=4     Long story short, this vet posts up his suppressed M4 on /r/guns and takes smack talk from people on the message board. Then one of the moderators posts:   Because he's full of sh*t. I'd bet money he wasn't in the Marines, he isn't in a chair, and the gun isn't his. Bet me, Zap. Bet me.   OP responds with:   proof http://imgur.com/a/HWScH   From there, the marine seems to remain gracious while the rest of reddit trashes the mod.
  3. Almost looks like some old piece of WWII ordinance long lost in France.   Idea seems good but even the good reviews say it wouldn't survive a drop since part of it is made from glass.
  4.   Yeah the internet can be brutal. Everyone is a spelling bee champ.   At least here, people just point it out vs. other places (like an arfcom) where they would probably give you crap about it.
  5.   The mamby pamby's at my work didn't even ask.....
  6.   Yeah, not very practical. But if you saved it for a home defense situation... that's a lot of light....
  7. http://www.wickedlasers.com/torch     Just found this one, it seems it's hot enough to start fires, 4,100 lumens

    TV Woes

Surge protectors are for protection against surges and brownouts, not so much lightning strikes. I would advise unplugging any valued electronics during lightning storms. This includes not only the power but other connections such as telephone modems and coaxial. People often forget those.
  9. Man that weather was perfect today. Overcast, cool and didn't rain until we made it inside. Had a blast as always. Hopefully it won't be another year before we get to do it again.
  10. Pretty funny   http://www.polygon.com/2013/5/31/4383220/robert-bowlings-robotoki-invaded-by-lapd-after-curious-designer
  11.   Ever try Dell over by the Nashville airport? Unless they've tightened up, at the start of my IT career I worked there and they had a guy shadow me on a call as part of the interview process. He had a look of sheer terror on his face. I asked him if he'd ever done PC support. The guy just shakes his head and says "i don't even own a comupter". A week later i'm walking through the building and there he sits taking a call...   Edit.... doh... quoted the wrong guy entirely :D
  12. The right to... bear arms? Found it on Reddit... I had to chuckle
  13.   I kinda feel like a douche for following up by saying it's catastrophic, not catostrofic.
  14.   Yeah, HR especially tends to pass along the cert heavy resumes. I could care less about certifications. Almost always it winds up that the person just used brain dumps or took some crash course just to get MCSE or MCITP, etc. if I see that you went to college for something IT related and have A+ N+ S+, MCSE, MCSA and you work at Starbucks... well, you'll make a good entry level.
  15.   Exactly. I always remain honest in an interview because I take pride in my work and frankly don't like looking like an idiot. I can't fathom lying about your skillset and then when the heat is on, you're unable to perform. I wouldn't want that smudge on my name, especially in an age where business and social networking is so profound.
  16.   +1000 It's amazing what people have the gall to list on their resume. We had a candidate at my former employer who listed himself as a BackupExec administrator. When I asked him about it, he rotated tapes out of a robotic library. he might as well have list "Iron Mountain Architect" as well.
  17. I'm very disappointed.......     ... that the tree didn't slingshot him off. I was SO hoping to see that :)
  18. I'd get a second opinion before any surgery. Part of being old also comes with the "don't get over surgery quick" clause.   I know what you mean though. About a year ago sometime informed me I was balding... I had no idea.... then immediately I noticed my rotator cuff is hurting, my knee pops and I now have a hiatal hernia!!!   Better get that 401k rolling......jeez.
  19. The view from my desk. Ever watchful...
  20. Riding Leathers: because it's easier to walk away in disgust than to ride away in an ambulance.
  21. If the M1 Garand were the last piece of American history left in this country, we'd still have a rich history! :usa:
  22. I bought a full suspension on craigslist a few years ago because my buddy said he wanted to trail ride and I was all about it! Turns, we didn't agree on what "trail" meant. Mine was dirt and hills. His definition was "green way". Ever try to keep up with road bike while you're on a full suspension? It ain't easy....
  23. I love the phrase "piles of rifles".  :)   I just imagine these giant heaps like they find in those afghan caves and weapons caches.
  24. I'm a cub scout leader for my son's pack. If I ever heard any of my boys talking about sex AT ALL I'd be having a chat with their parents. It's got no business in the pack.
  25. lol, EXACTLY what I thought
