Oh great, another trash Memphis thread. Sure makes us Memphis gun owners feel welcome.
2.
I took the new pistola to Top Brass here in town this afternoon. That was a mistake. It must have been 85* in there. Well it went like this. I racked the slide for the first time with a loaded mag in the gun. It didn't fully chamber. Pushed the slide into battery and sent one downrange. Same thing, round didn't fully chamber. That didn't happen anymore. I sent 73 more round down range without a problem. The sights are designed to hold on the target center, not the 6:00 hold. I used the center, AKA combat sight picture but I was still hitting low. Part of that could have been the constant wiping of sweat off my brow making it hard to concentrate fully on my shooting. I took 75 rounds of WWB ball ammo and another 50 of Federal with me but after I went through the Winchester I said screw it. Too damn hot in there. The dots on the rear sight are smaller than and less bright than the front dot which may have also been part of my problem shooting low. I think some night sights are gonna be in my future. I can replace these with any sight that fits the Sig 220 series. The slide will also close by itself when firmly seating a loaded mag. From what I've read it's made to do that. I wasn't ready for that but fortunately I was using both good muzzle and trigger discipline.
The dots on the rear sight of my Thunder 9 also were a dull white. I got some of the fluorescent sight paint at Guns and Ammo on summer and touched them up a bit. It made it a lot easier to get a sight picture quickly.
3.
Self inflicted injuries for which i have no mercy for. I honestly don't think a lot of them have even given that a thought and to be honest if it does happen I have no doubt it will be woman with young children and a ccw and just reacts as a mother would to protect her children but once that round leaves the barrel you cannot stop it from hitting what it is pointed at and I for one would not hold the mother at fault in her decision to protect her children first and foremost .............jmho
I would have liked to get that response when I brought up the same situation. When I suggested it, all I got was that I was shining a unfavorable light on concealed carry permit holders.
4.
Well that does not shine a glowing light on those who conseal carry either?
Carrying concealed doesn't automatically make one a responsible gun owner.
5. I never have understood how carrying AR-15's into a restaurant would convince the state of Texas to change their handgun open carry law. I, personally, do not agree that open carry should be illegal. While I normally conceal carry, I don't go to any extra effort to hide it. But to walk into a family restaurant with a rifle is just stupid. Sounds like a good way to get shot by a concealed carrier who might overreact.
6. I have the UC Pro 9MM in duo tone. It's my everyday carry. It's a bit heavy but I have yet to have any malfunction of any kind. For the price, you will not be disappointed.
7.
It would be instructive if we could find the actual final disposition of this case, and specifically, if his permit gets pulled also as per 39-17-1352. If the statement is correct on affidavit, sounds like it was a "legal" posting, so I guess that part won't be tested. - OS
I'm pretty sure we will eventually see the final disposition of the case. The commercial appeal is notorious for putting anything that makes gun owners look bad all over the front page while completely ignoring any justified use of a firearm. I still haven't seen any mention of the car carry bill that will take effect in July. They may have mentioned it but I haven't seen it. I'm pretty sure if they had mentioned it there would have been numerous letters to the editor stating how it would mean Wild West gunfights everywhere.
8. Well, since we are talking about the sign law and it has been stated on this forum before that we don't have any examples of anyone being charged, it happened here in memphis today. I'm sure it will not be the only charge this guy gets hit with. http://wreg.com/2014/05/21/gun-goes-off-in-movie-theater-after-falling-out-of-mans-pocket/
9.
none in the Memphis area either,I look everytime I go to any stores that sell it.I havent seen 22 in our WalMarts in near a year now.But I refuse to get up early on a day off just to beat the non working sector to the ammo counters.Maybe thats my problem,if I did maybe I could retire on what the scalpers are selling it for.I hope a few get stuck with the stuff and end up eating it in the morning like a bowl of Wheaties with milk.
If you are looking for some of the match type ammo, I can tell you where you could try here in memphis. I go by there pretty regularly and they seem to always have the higher quality .22. I just punch paper with .22 so I can't really tell you if it is priced reasonably or not.
10. When it comes to a laptop, I still prefer a Windows 7 computer(absolutely hate Windows 8). And I also still prefer Android. When Apple comes up with a larger screen size and adds a qwerty slide out keyboard, I might consider getting a iPhone. My fingers are just too big to efficiently use to on-screen keyboard. I also don't think any other music player even competes with the iPod. Of course, with anything Apple, you pay for what you get.
11. I've had a iPad Air since December and I love it. Of course, there are still things that are easier on a laptop but the gives me reason to have both. After using Windows since Windows 3, it does take some getting use to but once you figure out how to use it you can take it anywhere. I can carry it in my EDC backpack and have internet just about anywhere I go. As a matter of fact, I'm making this post from a iPad.
12. Bersa Thunder 9 UC Pro, 2 Kershaw Oso Sweets, smartphone extra double stacked.
13. I always have a handgun in the bathroom when I am in the shower. When showering, I feel as though I can't hear well enough, even though the door to the bathroom is open. I do have two alarms if someone tries to enter the house. One is a pit bull and the other is a lab. They give me plenty of time to grab a towel and my gun.
14. Incredible how relevant it is to what is happening with our country today.
15.
As posted on another forum. Look how many rounds this guy is selling! Yes, he and people like him are part of the problem. So are the buyers. http://www.gunbroker.com/All/BI.aspx?IncludeSellers=2735131
The biggest problem with these auctions is the number of bids that are being placed. As long as people are buying, there will be no end in sight.
16. Just making conversation. I would think anyone with a permit would want to know.
17. Don't guess anybody around here ever does any sauger fishing at Pickwick? I remember spending many of days with my dad as a kid braving the cold on the Tennessee river. Never been so cold in my life. I'd like to try it again, but I don't think I'm man enough anymore.
18. Show up at the Walmart on Hwy 64 or Germantown Parkway on sat. or sun mornings. I know that's a crapshoot, but that is when I have been the luckiest. I haven't even tried since before Christmas, so things may have changed. And also Bass Pro puts out what they get when they open at 9. From what they tell me they get at least two trucks in a week. But the days vary. I usually miss it at Bass Pro because I'm at work, but they have been getting in in. At least that's what they tell me when I ask about it.
19. Maybe it's just that Memphis has so many Walmarts within driving distance but I don't have much trouble finding .22. I've bought it at all times of the day. Now don't get me wrong, it is not an every day occurance but I have run into it at all times of the day. The best time has been around 9 or 10 on a weekend morning, but Ive also found at around 5 after getting off work. Actually I've had a harder time getting .380 than 22. I also don't get to get out and shoot very much so I've been able to build up a few thousand rounds. Living in Memphis, I just can't step out in the backyard and shoot.
20. They would not do this but once to me. I would probably only go back to handle and check out their guns, then let them know they were too expensive and I was going to go buy online, but thanks for letting me check them out. And I dang sure would let anyone who would listen know about their selective ammo selling.
21. For trying to set someone on fire, he needs to have a lot more happen than a slap. Canning come to mind. Heck if he was 17 instead of 15 I'd say lock him in a cell and let him die there. Can't think of many worse ways to die than burning to death.
22. I feel your pain. I have Windows 8 and absolutely hate it. I have been considering going back to Windows 7 for a while now. I use it at work and had it on my personal laptop for a good while until I bricked my laptop and had to replace it. I am going to eventually go out and get Windows 7 again for my current Windows 8 laptop.   http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Description=windows%207%20oem&Submit=ENE
23. The taser would be one option, but you might consider getting a bear sized can of pepper spray for a less than lethal option. Of course spraying pepper spay indoors can be a problem for anyone in the room but there are ways to minimize that. And when you do feel as though you are ready for a dog, a male lab would be a great choice. They are wonderful with children and can be very protective. I, personally, have a pitbull mix and a lab mix and they bark at every little noise that they hear. I would be hesitant to suggest a pitbull with small kids even though I know most of their reputation for attacking kids is unfounded. My pitbull absolutely loves kids and would protect my daughter or me with her life. And any large dog will give you the few seconds of warning that could save your life.
24. It is on his youtube page not his facebook page. I can't get to it right now to post a link because its showing a 500 server error.
