Not least when they have covered themselves in splatter and blood and guts deliberately for camouflage.

The Voyage is a new one on me. It's e-ink so I'm sure it will be more than adequate. I just don't rate reading on an LCD screen for any amount of time (though I have certainly gone through a few books that way) You are totally correct about books. I have met several people who say "I gots to have my books" but I explain to them that a Kindle does not preclude you from having real books as well and when they try it, they're caught. Hundreds of books able to be carried with you anywhere, instant purchase of new books when you want them, wherever you want them, Project Gutenberg and Baen Free library (amongst others) providing thousands of free e-books... Then there are people who could do with their books in a slightly larger font. Definitely one of those "Don't knock it until you've tried it" kinda things.

I go to Franklin Gun Store, look at the price of the new version at the counter then add 10% for the speed-slots I dremelled in the side. At least that's the formula it seems many sellers use.

My parents had a house at the top of a hill. When it snowed, we would sit at the big picture window and watch the cars make it half-way up then head back down again sideways.

I think I managed to find a cheaper deal on Ebay. Base price was the same but there was tax due on the Amazon purchase. If you are happy going used, ebay will be your better bet anyway, probably. Also give Craigslist a quick look.

I suggest starting here http://www.amazon.com/First-Science-Fiction-Megapack-Classic-ebook/dp/B00C3MPFTY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1415850610&sr=8-1&keywords=science+fiction+megapack and here http://www.amazon.com/Weird-Science-Fiction-Tales-Classics-ebook/dp/B00B2B6PDC/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1415850726&sr=8-4&keywords=101+weird+science You can always charge from the USB port on your computer but the charger part can be had from ebay for $1. I bought a bunch of the car accessory to USB adapters just to have around and I think the mains ones are a similar price (I use an old one from a Samsung I had a long time ago) http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-AC-Mini-Wall-Charger-for-iPhone-4s-4-3gs-3-iPod-Assorted-Colors-/161286271629?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item258d69328d

It is kind-of a complaint. Until you have several devices and the cords and chargers start to multiply out of control and you realize you're paying for all of them. Everything has standardized on micro-usb currently so I use the one cord and charger for charging/controlling about 4 devices. I did buy a splitter off of ebay so I could charge my phone and kindle at the same time (better than two cords and chargers IMO).

The paperwhite and other kindles with the e-ink do have an experimental browser which will allow you to perform some web activities. It is a bit limited but can be used for some of the things you may want to do. I often use mine to google search or check email and occasionally read web forums.

Not only the free books but I have been reading a bunch of the science fiction collections they have going at the moment. $1 for 12 hours+ of reading can't be beat (Though some of the stories are better written than others, of course).

Same here. I have hung icicle lights around the top edge of the bedroom wall and that seems to keep her happy.

Someone needs to come up with a device that you put in your yard and it draws the lights on your house with a laser.

I will, 2nd (5th, 6th?) for the Paperwhite. Note that you don't have to get your books from Amazon and there are many free options at, for example, Project Gutenberg and Baen Books. Kindle doesn't do epub but there are programs that can convert between the formats. There are some reasons you might want to go for an older version of the Kindle. The Touch does Text-to-speech and audio books. Neither of these are options on the Paperwhite due to lack of audio hardware. I would not even consider the Fire as the advantages of e-ink (battery life and readability) are just so huge.

I usually avoid Black Friday deals. If you are patient, the deals are usually available other times of the year without the huge amount of competition and disappointment. I may give PSA a check out though.

Too true. Unfortunately, the roads were good 90% of the way in, it's only in the last few miles things started getting slippery and by that point, I figured it wasn't worth turning around.

There are a lot of people who won't want to get caught short again. This will drive demand for a good while. People who were happy with picking up a box here or there won't be happy without a few tens of thousands of rounds stashed away.

I figured my winter driving skills were pretty OK. What I failed to account for was the driving skills of others and I ended up being the ball in a game of traffic pinball. Next time I'm just working from home.

Actually there have been studies and the lead from bullets shot at ranges is not leaching into the ground water and has very low migration at all. I don't have the links but it should be easily googleable (the government was hoping to have a reason to shut things down, of course. Which they would do in a second was it happening).

Good point. Having her ask about her sister happening off-camera is one thing but it looks like they suppressed it just because it would make the story obviously stupid.

Hey, this is the walking dead with the black man replacement plan. Bob dies, Gabriel is there to take his place.

Little disappointed the "tainted meat" thing didn't really go anywhere. Oh well. Good job they found those silencers hidden in that fridge only five minutes ago also :)

Don't fall for that one. I'm probably one of the few here who *isn't* a native American. Edit: Corrected to read "native", not "naive" ;)

Just had a Burger King manager want to fight me
tnguy replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in General Chat
This is the kind of person that will have no job if they raise minimum wage. (Burger King dude). JTMaze, I think some people thing the universe runs on wishful thinking and not physics. -
TMF's #2 is probably the most important thing anyone can ever internalize.

It seems odd that they didn't actually reveal that he's been bitten. It seems like it was obvious and I'm definitely not someone who needs to be spoon-fed but they usually make these things clear. You guys are right about him being bitten (as opposed to him just being infected), of course and clearly it is going to have some kind of implication. On the other hand, hard to imagine that they all haven't had a few mouthfuls of zombie goo over the years.

I had no problem with anything you wrote but just to let you know there *is* a "spoiler" tag if you go to the "special BB code" button third from the left at the top.
