  1. Prices pretty good for the Kindle this weekend.   http://www.amazon.com/
  2. It only looks like a dozen of them on the news. Maybe it's best just to let it play out though *shrug*
  3. Congrats Mike. Can't stand a thief.
  4.   I do not believe I would have posted that on the internet (even after 20 years). Just saying.
  5.   That's why I'm thinking dual fuel. Gas when gas is most efficient, electric when electric is most efficient.
  6. But a heat pump is basically the cooling part of an AC run in reverse. So it's almost a freebie and I believe it runs cheaper than gas in certain circumstances.
  7.   Yep, the yellow in a yellow flame is the glow from unburnt soot caused by incomplete combustion.
  8.   I plan to go to gas/heat pump when it's time to change. We currently have gas. Should probably have replaced it already but feeding it a new part every couple of years seems to keep it happy.
  9. Oops. I think I didn't get what you were getting at first time :)
  10. I'd bet on the mags being ambidextrous.   I would expect the ejection port to still eject to the right on a left-handed version but there's no real reason that would have to be the case.
  11. Hard to tell from the pictures but it looks like mostly the wing and the bumper. Could probably get those from a wrecker for reasonably cheap so it becomes a factor of labor and ability to do it yourself.   Hmm. looks like a little headlight damage too but probably livable. If the hood is damaged, probably would just leave it to the body shop.
  12.   It's like the difference between holding your breath and having your lungs removed.
  13.   Yeah, but the CO also binds to haemoglobin, preventing your blood from transporting oxygen. CO2 will get you dizzy but you'll notice, CO will get you dead. There's a reason it's popular for suicides.   Also, low O2 will cause a heater to put out more CO over CO2 as the combustion becomes more inefficient.
  14. What's the point of most things? More choice is almost always better.
  15. Yeah, it was just a place to sleep and get freshened up.   The day I was due to fly back, weather grounded the planes. I ended up in a youth hostel in Chelsea which was pretty cool. I'd probably do that again if I was going alone.
  16.   With CO, many people never know there's a problem. They just pass out then eventually die. That's one of the things that makes it so dangerous. Worth checking if your heater has protection against this.
  17. Workshop is in the basement so it gets cold but not extremely cold. I plumbed in a natural gas heater a few years back which takes the edge off when it gets bad.
  18. I stayed at a hotel opposite MSG. I wasn't paying but I understand it was $$$ and the room was tiny. It was nice to get up from a nap and just wander over there for the show though.
  19.   They'd probably be more jealous that you had 22LR to shoot :)
  20.   Watch those. Many are no different than soda, just without the carbonation and coloring.   I dropped more than 30lbs a few years ago through diet and exercise but the streak was broken by going on a cruise. I didn't gain much weight on the cruise itself but got out of the good habits. Now I'm back where I was and not too happy about it. I was feeling more healthy and starting to look good down at that weight so now I'm trying again.   Most of the false starts over the intervening years have been diet without exercise or exercise without diet. I really need both. The exercise is a great motivator to watch the diet since I hate exercise and it just means wasted effort if I eat crap.   Sugars and starches really are the enemy which is difficult as I'm a big fan of bread and sandwiches. Also a problem around here as nearly everything is dipped in batter or breadcrumbs before deep-frying. Sweet things I can mostly do without so that's not such a big deal.   Two things I found really useful: Eggs (several ways to cook them, easy and quick) and bananas (starchy but only about 100 cals per banana and occupy your attention if you're eating partly out of boredom and very cheap)
  21. I think the laser may actually appeal to certain women who may not be comfortable with their shooting skills (not that women can't shoot as well as men but they frequently lack some of the confidence) and the light is ideal for finding crap in the bottom of their purse ;)
  22.   Sure, why not? If you're not driving inappropriately for the conditions, it's just another expense. I disagree on TMF with the cost benefit analysis for what it's worth [some of the interstate fines are a bit OTT though]. But don't forget the points too. I haven't got one in a good long while though.   Definitely glad it's not the UK though. Speed cameras everywhere and, almost as bad, about a dozen speed camera signs for every speed camera. Very "Big Brother"
  23. But then there are OLED http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OLED
