Well, y'all know me and Smith & Wessons. 17-5 17-6 Full Lug, a pair of 18-3s and a 34-1. One of my 18-3s was modified by the previous owner with a Red Ramp front sight, smooth trigger and a wonderful action job. I added a set of my favorite combat grips. I give this gun full credit for teaching me how to properly shoot a revolver in DA mode.

My favorite .22 revolver is the 4" S&W Model 18. Its a K-frame and very easy to shoot well. The 6" model 18 is also an excellent revolver. Often used for hunting and pure target shooting. Then on the smaller J-frame there's the Models 34 & 63. None of these are cheap, but they're well worth the money.

sale-or-trade Clark Custom Colt 1911 .45 ACP (SOLD)
Grayfox54 replied to RonE's topic in Firearms Classifieds
I have a 1964 Clark Longslide that's the best 1911 I've ever owned. His work is legendary. I'm sorely tempted. But its beyond my budget and too far away. -
I can't speak for the Target model, but I had a 2" Pathfinder snub once that wouldn't hit the side of a barn from the inside. Charter Arms QC can be spotty. You might get a gem or you might get a turd. Only way to find out is to shoot it.

I guess next election I'll be exploring alternatives. -
Why we can't have nice gun laws...

I'm confused. Like most politicians, he talks in circles. He seems to be opposing the bill, but then at the end, did he not say he was sponsoring it? Exactly what is he saying? BTW: Rose is my senator. I've voted for him and e-mailed him several times on 2A issues. He has always seemed very pro-gun to me. -
I found this on another forum. A very thought provoking article. https://amgreatness.com/2023/05/17/the-hate-industry/

ISO 1911 Gunsmith in Memphis area
Grayfox54 replied to JCJeepCJ's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Outside of Warner, I don't know of anybody in Memphis I would trust. And like I said, the few we have around here are backed up for months. That's one of the reasons I learned to do my own work. There is a gunsmith at Guns & Ammo. I don't know anything about him. Not even his name. To me that would be a crap shoot. Maybe somebody else here can provide info? Give Chuck's guy a call. Maybe he can help you out. Cypress Creek is a good store and its only 1.5 hours from Memphis. Unless the gun is non-functional or you plan a complete target or carry package, I'd think long and hard about shipping it off for work. That's gonna be expensive and time consuming. I doubt it would be worth it just for a trigger job. Maybe you can find a place that has shipping included and will send you a label, but I don't know of one. Did UPS and Fed Ex ever decide if an individual can ship a gun? Otherwise, you may have to pay a FFL to ship it for you. Frankly, if the gun is functioning properly, I'd either do the work myself or just learn to live with it. -
ISO 1911 Gunsmith in Memphis area
Grayfox54 replied to JCJeepCJ's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I don't know of anybody who specializes in 1911s. I've always heard good things about Kieth Warner in Germantown. But I also hear that he stays backed up for months. In fact, pretty much any gunsmith you find will take a while to get to your gun. The 1911 is a very easy gun to work on. A few basic tools and some youtube videos and you could do it yourself. What brand guns are you wanting worked on? -
Some forums have thread drift. This one has tidal waves.

Ford vs Chevy vs GMC (not an argument thread!)
Grayfox54 replied to Handsome Rob's topic in General Chat
Nobody does that anymore. Very few trucks are used as trucks anymore. Most never see anything more than a couple of 2X4s in the bed. These days most of them are just big family cars. The people who buy these want all the cool gizmos in them as well. So dealers stock what those folks want. if you want a basic truck, you gotta special order it. That's how most businesses get their work trucks. OTOH, you might give government sales/auctions a try. These will be plain Jane, basic work trucks, but check 'em very carefully. Sometimes they buy new vehicles simply because they can get a great deal this year using the government bid system. So they replace older vehicles that still have a lot of life in them. Every once in a while you just might find a real gem. Many cities and counties are now selling their used vehicles and equipment on the internet. -
Ford vs Chevy vs GMC (not an argument thread!)

JMHO: but I think the GMC is built better. Chevy makes passenger trucks. GMC makes work trucks. -
He must be going to Memphis. OTOH: we have this for smarter folks.

I do remember reading stories of people using night vision scopes to hunt coyotes, feral pigs and other varmints at night. Can't swear if its legal in Tennessee though.

Ford vs Chevy vs GMC (not an argument thread!)

During the 25 years I worked for my city as a mechanic, we had a huge fleet of pick-ups in all sizes. We tried pretty much everything at one time or another. Ford, GMC, Chevy, Dodge and even a Toyota or two. Nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing. held up as well as the Fords. We had everything from the little Rangers up to the F-477 Super Duty that I drove as my work truck. Lots of F-150s, & 250s Crew cabs with long beds too. These trucks worked all day, every day and rarely had any problems. The 7.3 diesel was a super work horse and rarely gave trouble. However, I'm not a big fan of the newer Ford diesels. Way too much pollution control garbage has made them a mess. I'd recommend you go with gasoline. I don't hate Chevy, they make a decent truck. However, I think you get a better vehicle and more value for the money with a GMC. As far as vehicles go, Dodge is a verb. This was my office for 18 of the 25 years I worked for the city. 1994 F-477 Super Duty. 7.3 L Diesel. This beast weighed in at 14,000 lbs. I drove this every day at work and it was still going strong when I retired in 2014. -

Shelby County Shootout Leaves Homeowner in Jail
Grayfox54 replied to gun sane's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
If you're involved in a shooting, you better expect to be arrested. The police are gonna arrest everybody involved until they can sort out the details. Odds are the charges will be dropped AFTER the police get the complete story. -
fetch a beer on command.

I wonder if the antis will still carry out their plan now that its been exposed? I'm sure THP will take extra precautions. And they have lost the element of surprise. I'd think they would at least tone down their protests a bit. Nah! They ain't that smart.

According to that article, the people are already protesting against a government that's right on the edge of a dictatorship now. This will just make the transition easier.
