It's gets better...he came to me today wanting to take the NRA Basic Pistol course..and is thinking about getting his permit. I was actually speechless. I figured he was talking about "one day" taking the class...untill he handed me the 100.00 class fee

My brother has been shooting with my a few times. That in and of itself is a HUGE deal. Many many moons ago he was standing right next to a cousin who put a .38 slug into his own head playing around with a pistol...brother got splattered if you know what I mean. I've been working on him for a few years now...getting him over his issues with guns...taking him shooting, etc. Yesterday I took him to Guns and Leather and helped him pick out his new Gen 4 Glock 17.:D I also did some horse trading and came home with a gently used Sig 239 in .40 with a .357 Sig barrel. Thanks to Ben and everyone at Guns and Leather...part of his decision to actually buy his own gun was how friendly the people he met up there have been to him...answering questions, letting him fondle the merchandise...etc. He feels comfortable going up there without me along.

I know one of my friends from WAAAAAYYYYY back is on here...brags about the baby blue tux I was wearing in HIS wedding...but I'm lousy with remembering name = screen names -
Had a LONG day yesterday....got in about 1030pm. Didn't sleep very well... Came home after a slightly less sucky day today, unlocked the safe only to see my Sig 228 sitting there...that was supposed to be on my hip. Pulled today's carry piece out of the holster...Sig 226. No biggie....except I carried two spare 228 mags with me all day:doh:

BLADE-TECH (UCH) Ultimate Concealment Holster...anyone?
dunndw replied to a topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I've tried kydex IWBs..for me they are too uncomfortable. No flexablity when you get in the way of the rig. -
The 226 is awsome. I found one @ G&L and couldn't leave it there. Let one of my students use it in class this past weekend. She ended up buying one herself Monday. Can't wait until the 229s come out...but I've heard they're are going to use different mags than the current 228/229....which would suck because Sig mags in general are pricey. I can't find anything offical RE the different mags.....and we all know how gun store rumors are....but I'd be interested in a 229 as well

The CIS classes I've taken used the photographic targets of bad guys (and girls) pointing guns at you. I used a holster for everything. I'd e-mail Todd @ CIS and discuss the holster/no holster thing with him. In a training enviroment, depending on the setup it might be a safety issue...but I'm not sure.

Guest editorial: Bill puts at risk a major industry
dunndw replied to waynesan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Where would we send it to? His e-mail account is useless...they'd just be deleted The Tennessean forums are full of libtards... who could we make our side's point to that might leak out into the general population? -
CIS runs a defensive pistol class. I've taken it...great class. Critical Incident Strategies, LLC. HGR (school I work for) is going to offer NRA Personal Protection inside the Home and Outside the Home classes this year, but the data have not been set yet.

How can we launch a AR15.com style firemission against this tool. We've let him lie about this long enough -

Shooting Glasses for people with less than perfect vision
dunndw replied to Capbyrd's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I had a pair of Wiley X classes cut to my script. They work great when I'm outside. I've been trying to shoot with my regular glasses but I find myself hitting low center no matter what gun I'm shooting. Stupid progressive lenses....working on computers all these years....damn getting old sucks. I think I'm going to try sigsbird idea and have a pair of indoor ghooting glasses cut that way -

LWRC 6.8 Pistol Question
dunndw replied to willis68's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
I believe if it's registered a pistol...it's always a pistol...it can't be legally altered into a SBR. I'm sure there's more to it than that...but I believe that's the cliff notes version. Several of the vendors here are class III dealers...not sure how long their lay away policies are. Now I think you could buy the pistol, leave it as is, register a stripped lower, pay the tax, pay the waiting tax then put together a SBR with the pistol upper and the stripped lower once the stamp lands and be legal. -
In my house without my permission, you'll be looking down the business end of a 1911...if not a AR15. If I tell you to leave and you don't...responding units better bring a mop. Orange is for when they open the door and DON'T come in....RED is for when they are 6 FEET inside your home. Worrying about what color code he was in is kind of silly. As soon as the guy walked in the door he was posing a threat to the OP...armed or not. He (the OP) Recognized a potential threat Confronted the threat Resolved the situation using a minimal amount of force. No one bled...everyone went home. Nicely done.
