I put a Kimber Ultra Carry and the SIS ultra on the scales today @ Franklin Gun Shop. The SIS has about 1/4 pound more weight to it. I thought long and hard about picking it up...but I passed.

I'd look at the new SIS from Kimber. I had an Ultra Raptor, the alloy frame made it rather snappy under recoil with 230 grain loads. The 3 inch SIS is stainless steel, which MIGHT add enough weight to the little thing to absorb some of the snap. It wasn't uncontrollable...but snappy is the only word I can find to describe it.
  3. Action Def. in s/c Criminal Practice and Procedure of JUD to 4/2/2008
  4. I figured that much watching the proceedings. I was going to say the monkeys in the zoo..but I've seen monkeys...they have problem solving skills. I just couldn't figure out why they'd waste the time and resources to write multiple bills that do the exact same thing.
  5. Here's the part I don't understand...but it might explain the complete ineptness of these "representatives" ...and I use that term loosely as possible Two bills..doing basically the same thing. One is killed...one is deferred 3/19/2008 HB0410 Firearms and Ammunition - Authorizes person with a handgun permit who is not consuming alcohol to carry handgun in building where beer or alcoholic beverages are being served subject to posting of property provisions, and adds violation of possessing a firearm where alcohol is served as a reason for revocation of a person's handgun permit. - Amends TCA Title 39, Chapter 17. Failed In s/c Criminal Practice and Procedure of JUD of Judiciary Committee HB0702 Criminal Offenses - Allows person who has permit to carry a handgun to carry gun in place where alcohol is served for consumption on premises if person is not consuming alcohol or is not otherwise prohibited by posting provisions. - Amends TCA Title 39, Chapter 17, Part 13. 6. OK...so now what? More e-mails and phone calls? The bit I saw of the "meeting" it looked more like a lynching when it came down to peons being allowed to defend themselves
  7. I second Frank and his ability to infect normal people with NFA disease :-)
  8. I just went through the instructors course. as LA said...the required course is 4 hr classroom 4 hr range. If the class doesn't meet spec...I'd think the state might revoke the issued permits. I was told of a school that taught with BB guns to keep the costs down...all the permits were revoked. I don't think there's such a thing as too much training
  9. I tuned in late...did they defer it again? All I heard was them talking about someone exhuming a dead donkey for a malpractice case
  10. The covered it on WKRN @ 6 tonight. SerpASS and several bar owners all spouting the same "they don't mix" when asked about guns and booze. The bright spot of the "coverage' was when they interviewed the sponsor and he called the open letter the opponents sent the speaker of the house "misleading" and said on camera they left out the part where the gun carrier can't even consume one drop of booze
  11. 25. 3 eight round mags(one in the 1911, two spares) one in the pipe all HST 230 grain JHPs

    New "toy"

I want to toss a few rounds through that thing.
  13. perhaps this time I can actually use the gun I brought. the magwell on my Warrior kept my 8 rounders from seating properly. Had to run the course with my bobtail'ed NHC. Good shooter, but speed reloads with a bobtail tend to be a bit rough on the palms.
  14. how bout 10 round Wilsons in a 1911?
  15. SHOW US YOUR PAPERS....
  16. It's even better when they DON'T "give" any of it to the people who run their own businesses. No W2...no money. I get a warm fuzzy feeling every time I think about it...but that might be the tacos
  17. Come to Nashville. Go to Greene Military and try on a pair of 5.11s you'll like 'em
  18. of course...it might be fun to walk into academy and ask for 1000 rounds for the pistol on my hip :-) WHO'S GOT BAIL MONEY
  19. 45 ACP. I misspoke, the CCI price wasn't with shipping...that adds another 24.70 to the price, 239.70 http://www.wideners.com is where I found the ammo. I just saw on their website wher they only have 708 rounds left...bummer. Hopefully a resupply is on the way
  20. nsnate02: oh I know...they love the word free...even when it ain't. I guess I should say "no additional charge for shipping" Todd: 'nuff said....I used to shoot CCI before I went to 1911s... not even shore why I stopped...but I never heard anything bad about it. Seeing as it's one of your classes I'm gearing up for...that works for me :-)
  21. I'm hunting for training ammo. I've found (thanks to the board) Wolf: 1000 rounds for 209.00 at Centerfire Systems...looks like free shipping, but I didn't go through the sign up process. I can get 1000 round of CCI with the ALUMINUM case for 215 shipped. Now..I'm not real fond of either steel or aluminum as a case material, but I'm not reloading...and both classes I'm require factory loaded ammo. Steel or aluminum?
  22. I ran into my rep (Ben West) this past Saturday at the vets office. He remembered me (even though I was very polite on the phone) and made a point to tell me he was ding everything he can to help the cause along. He isn't on the committee but it can't hurt
  23. ..now I'm wondering if the mall ninjas wanting to carry the AR pistols aren't on to something. I'll stick with two TAP 230 grain +P .45 hollowpoints to center mass...if they're still in the fight after taking those in the chest...I'll go for the legs and skull
  24. http://gun-deals.com Check this site. It's supposed to find the best deals I'm looking for 1000 rounds of .45, I can get CCi alum. cased according to this site for $215.00
