Sorry Comms, but I highly disagree. We have one of the best militaries ever fielded with some of the most sophisticated equipment ever. We can, and as you said, have kicked ass and taken names on two major fronts and many smaller ones. So the problem is not our fighting spirit, its the spineless government (and some military) leadership we currently have. I don't know what's going on in your current unit, but in ours, we have been prosecuting the war since right after 9/11 in most of the familiar places and some unknown ones as well as dealing with some that are either not cut out for it or do something stupid to get themselves kicked out. I expect the 101st has been doing the same, alongside many other divisions, so don't let a few bad examples cloud your opinion.

Didn't know anything about them either, I guess they weren't as popular as our locals..or because they are Brits.
-
Yea, but like how we compare with the countries we are loosing US companies to: http://www.tradingeconomics.com/country-list/corporate-tax-rate
-
Or...we can lower the cost to do business here by lowering our tax rate, make it more expensive for foreign companies to sell their wares here by matching the tariff placed on our products overseas, and quit forcing companies into expensive insurance plans.

There are a few that process free from donations, call the one you want to donate to and they will let you know if they have any slots left.

Thinking about moving from .40 to 9mm ...
Omega replied to Peace's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I personally carry the .40, I don't rightly care where it came from or why they developed it. I have seen what a 9mm, .40 and .45 can do, and I know what I can do with all three. The G23 is a good, reliable, compact gun that I can engage targets with, carry comfortably, and it carries more than my 1911s. I have no "favorite", I will carry what I feel the situation dictates, so many times the G23 stays in the truck and my xdm gets carried. If I come across another gun that can fill a niche at a good price, I'll get it, but since I have nothing to compensate for, it will probably be a .380 or 9mm. I now of no one that will stand in front of even a .22; most crooks probably will be unconcerned in what caliber they are being confronted with. So my feeling is that what ever caliber/gun combination you can consistently hit your target with is what you need to carry. Now, SHTF is different than SD, and for that as I have mentioned elsewhere, I'll probably stick to 9mm and 5.56. -
It takes too fast a round to set off those particular ingredients, you're better off with BP. They would be fine with a blasting cap, but if you can get those you can get better ingredients as well. The thing is, ingredients to make explosives are readily available which far supersede either of those choices to include nitroglycerin. It's just that you have to have experience preparing these things, because mistakes are not very forgiving. Look how effective those pressure cooker bombs were, and those were very unsophisticated.

The bacon is more for the one's left behind, though I would hope his last thoughts would be doubts of his choice in deities.
-
I bet you do, when I had my run in with him I didn't even need to mention his name for those around here to know who I was talking about. If he did move, I feel sorry for the new county; but I won't miss him.
-
I would be happy to help him achieve that, just let him know I've added bacon bits to the vest.
-
Should strap him into one of his own vests.

I could do that, $200 would definitely be worth not messing with the large overhanging branches safely. I actually want to fell 5 trees, one black walnut, and 4 other trees I am not sure of the species, its one that has soft pulp in the smaller branches. Yea, that's the weird part. Almost the entire base is rotted out, but about three feet up it is all solid and healthy looking. When I started cutting the top, one of the large branches was also hollow. They split in half as I cut them into two or three foot sections. If it comes to doing it myself, I'll roll back the fence before I drop the branches. The most it will do is damage a post or two, which are easily replaced.

Well, went to make final prep and cleanup of my hunting trailer. Had time to look at my hunting pack and I have three .270 rounds left so I may just give the Weatherby Vanguard a turn in the rotation this year. The goal is to take three minimum, so am thinking .308, .270, and .44. If enough time remains, .300 BLK, and 5.56 will be entered into the rotation as well.

I have the fallen one under control, my stihl farm boss made short work of it. Where I may need help/advise is the large branches on the still standing trees that are over the fence. I use my climbing deer stand to climb the tree cutting branches on the way up, then top it off on my way down. I cut small portions to keep the tree from swaying too much and use a harness, just in case. I cut just enough so when the left over part is felled it lands clear of anything.

Most kits are not top of the line components, but they are a great way to get started. Lee, Hornady, RCBS all make good turret presses the biggest difference is cost. While I like the others as well, I just like Lee's quick change turrets better. It makes changing calibers a quick and easy process. I also don't like the presses with she'll plates, I prefer ones with one ram and a single case holder. As far as precision, I never have any issues making precise riffle ammo, much better than I can shoot most times. I take the index rod out and reload as a single stage, weighing every charge on rifle rounds (hunting) and use the powder droppers on pistol and plinking riffle ammo. I have the old three hole aluminum turret, the new steel 4 hole press is a great improvement, but not enough for me to upgrade, but a great deal for new reloaders.

That edited part is a very good point, I would not put it past my buddy Jereme to charge you with hunting with fmj if your glock or bersa CCW is loaded with them.

Very true, but like anything, there are grey/gray areas. One can use an open tip aka hollow point: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/1339912049/black-hills-ammunition-556x45mm-nato-77-grain-sierra-matchking-hollow-point This ammo, designated as Mk 262 mod 1, essentially makes it a legal round militarily, and for game, though not recommended since the "open tip" does not help it mushroom as well as a soft tip or ballistic tipped round.

So, Wednesday's wind left me a nice present. Not to much damage really, crushed my old 12' Jon boat. And took out about a 12' section of fence on my side and probably the same on my neighbor's fence. Now a whole lot of chainsaw work, and burning of branches. This was a cluster of three trees, now that one fell over, I see they have a hollow base so they need to come down too. Got to find an inexpensive tree service to cut the large branches which may hit the fence, I can take care of the rest myself. Those will work, but honestly one shot, or even two in open air will go mostly unnoticed. I shoot from an enclosed space, even then I don't really notice the shot...but I am now using a set of these: http://www.amazon.com/Howard-Leight-Impact-Electric-Earmuff/dp/B001T7QJ9O/ref=zg_bs_3304074011_1
