  1. Just get a faraday bag and keep your phone in it when you don't want to be detected: http://www.amazon.com/Black-Hole-Faraday-Bag-Isolation/dp/B0091WILY0   We use these when we don't want our cell phones accessed when we are running joint operations.  It works on cell phones, GPS receivers and they have larger ones for laptops and tablets.
  2. I have around 8 acres that all I do is hunt on so I decided to plant fruit trees to keep wildlife coming over from the two 600 acres hunting clubs on either side of me.  I have planted quite a few, all in the fall; most have not made it, some last one year and others don't make it past spring.   I do have a plum tree that is alive and kicking, and I think maybe a cherry and peach that are still alive.  I plant them as good as I can making sure they have enough room for root growth and enough mulch to keep moisture by the roots, other than that these trees have to fend for themselves because I am seldom there.  I buy them for around $20, they are at least 2-3 years old, grown in TN and around 5' to 6' tall when I plant them.  I also plant any seed I can get to see if any of them will take before being eaten by squirrels.  I had a nice apple tree already there but the nice folks at the power company decided it may be a danger to their lines even though the branches were more than 50' to the nearest power line.  When I complained they went out and planted another but it didn't make it to spring.  I think I'll mix in some nut trees as well, maybe pecan and black walnut, I may not get to enjoy them but someone down the line will.

  4. Yes, sabots let me shoot a lighter bullet in my .50, and they seem to load better due to the plastic.  I shoot 130 or 150 grain bullets in my .270 and .308, and have hit from 20 yards out to 200 yards with no issues so in my .50, since they are all over 200 grains, I have no qualms about going from 150 on down.   I haven't shot over that so that's my personal limit with BP.
  5. One to keep an eye on for sure, seems we are missing some important pieces to this story.
  6. If you are wanting a fruit tree, look into the apple trees that have more than one variety on them. They will self pollinate and don't get too big.   I tried planting a couple but unfortunately they didn't take, I will try again though.  A local guy gets them every once in awhile, he advertises on craigslist; here is one of his ads: http://clarksville.craigslist.org/grd/5255794021.html He also has a few other fruit trees and now is a good time to start looking to plant, when the tree is dormant.
  7. Leaning towards a bot.   http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/91396-is-it-a-good-or-bad-idea-to-let-a-14-year-old-visit-her-mom-in-jail/page-4#entry1322368
  8. My PMs:   3600 Sent 09 October 2015 - 03:23 PM Thanks for answering   Main problem I have is she will see her mom in a jail jumpsuit and other inmates and even guards that could be intimidating . Is that ok for a 14 year old to see? Seeing Women behind bars basically?   Me Sent 09 October 2015 - 05:17 PM Kids are resilient, at her age you can actually have a conversation with her and find out what she thinks about the whole thing.   3600 Sent 09 October 2015 - 05:23 PM   My daughter does but seem nervous at all. In fact she seems a little excited My daughter made some jokey comments as I mentioned in my previous question   Me Sent 09 October 2015 - 05:29 PM Sometimes they use laughter to disguise nerves, but like I said, she will probably be OK.  After the first time you can gauge how she feels about return visits.   3600 Sent 09 October 2015 - 05:42 PM I hear my daughter can learn a lot from a visit. What do you think are the main things age can learn? How jails and law enforcement works ?   Me Sent 09 October 2015 - 05:49 PM No, the best thing she can take away from this is that wrong decisions have consequences.  If your wife takes responsibility for what she has done, and her actions match her words that is definitely a positive influence for her.   3600 Sent 09 October 2015 - 05:57 PM My daughter definitely wants to ask her mom questions about what it is like . Do you think that is a good idea and good for my wife to be open?   Me Sent 09 October 2015 - 06:05 PM I think so; it's better to hear the truth.  We have always been open with our kids, they always have a parent to go to for any reason.  And they have, because they know we always deal straight with them.  Kids want to learn, it's best to be the one teaching them the valuable lessons.   3600 Sent 09 October 2015 - 06:10 PM Do you think this will leave a kind of impression if she sees the jail and the people in them   Me Sent 09 October 2015 - 06:14 PM Of course, but it does not have to be a terrible experience.  Just like it would be a bit traumatic if she was hospitalized, you would take her anyway.   3600 Sent 09 October 2015 - 06:23 PM My daughter I believe wants to ask questions like how is the food, how are the guards, how is her uniform, what is her cell like, does she have a cellmate, and how the privacy is like BS if she has to do embarrassing things like shower in front of others. Are these questions too personal or ok you think   Me Sent 09 October 2015 - 06:26 PM She is curious, she will be OK with the whole thing, you will see.   3600 Sent 09 October 2015 - 06:27 PM In sure she is, I just hope it is not too personal you know what i mean   -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------   So he started the conversation with an identical sentence between you and him as well. If not a bot, its just one lazy individual using cut and paste.
  9. You would be surprised at what bots can do.  Back in the days of the BBS I ran one and had a bot that could have text conversations with people; depending on some of the words in the responses it would reply rather well.  I am sure bots now can perform much better, look at Siri, Google's version etc, they can sometimes have a good spoken conversation with you.   The reason I lean toward bot is that some of the text in the conversations and links are too perfect, humans seem to change things around.  With permission, (not sure if posting PMs is against the rules); maybe we can compare PMs that were sent to us.
  10. Should work, but I would shoot softer lead than what he is shooting out of his 45-70.  Either that or resize to within .002 overbore, otherwise getting them seated would be a bear.  I am looking to shoot .45 cal bullets out of my .50 with some sabots, Midsouth sells them for different size bullets.  Here is one for .45 using a .40 bullet: http://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/item/00072H14540BR/45-Caliber-Crush-Rib-Blue-Sabots-Holds-40-Caliber-Bullets-50-Pack.  With the proper sabot and lead bullet combo you can save a good amount over purchased BP bullets.
  11. Same here Nicky, I wonder if this is a bot?  One of the posts has the same question as one of the PMs.  If it is a bot, I wonder what the end game is?  What does the IP trace to?
  12. I still have my military cold weather gear.  It's a layered system so the colder it is, the more layers I put on.  I use a baklava to keep my head and face warm and to keep from fogging up the plexiglass in my hunting stand as well as the glass on my scope.   My feet on the other hand, that's another story.  I broke my tib/fib and blew out my ankle on a jump into a swamp.  After I healed I just can't find a comfortable pair of boots.  And they are so expensive I just can't afford to buy pair after pair.  They start off comfortable enough, but after an hour or two they start to hurt.
  13. Both, it started leaking through some bolt or nail holes then dripped and connected into what looked like a crack in the wall.  I had the same question, spears to the top of the brain pan can at least put some tripping hazards in front of the fence to keep them from getting a good push on the fence.
  14. It was blood, at least according to the talking dead intro.
  15. Seen a doe walking up a hill towards my neighbor's property line, used a bleat to call her back, waited until she presented a clear clean broadside shot, squeezed the trigger, and...well just a pop of the primer.  She didn't spook but by the time I replaced the primer she had gone into the brush.  Blackhorn strikes again, I may have to get some magnum 209s until I use up this 10oz can of it.   Edit for spelling and to add that though it's windy, it is one fine day for hunting.  Only seen two deer so far, the one above and one which spooked a few minutes later.  I have heard a few shots, including one from my neighbor's side which may of been the spooked one.
  16. I'll be going out Sunday so you all be sure to leave one for me.
  17. I'm with you, my .40 does just fine, I made good use of 9mm in the service and know the value of having just one more round so there is no way I'm carrying less.  I don't have a 10mm, but if my .44 mag doesn't kick my 4th point of contact I highly doubt a 10mm will.  I don't snub any caliber, there are some I don't own but that's because I haven't come accross a good deal on one yet.
  18. If everything is documented on your end I would not worry about telling him the disposition of it.  If they are that interested in tracing it, it may of been involved in something illegal in TX or may be it was found with other items that may of been stolen.  Either way I see no issue with telling them what you did with it.
  19. I seen that too, but figured it was the older rifle rounds.
  20. Good thing you posted when you did, I was about to get it so I can also get the Ruger Precision Rifle to mount under It
  21. Count me in that 6.14%, well sort of since they make no mention of reloading consumables so I think it's higher. I bet including reloading sales would skew these numbers quite a bit; I haven't purchased many commercially loaded rounds in some time.
  22. I buy many of my supplies from Midsouth, I pickup, so save on shipping and hazmat, even with taxes they are usually cheaper. And I have been lucky, I have stocked up on powder and primers from them. I usually wait until they have a hazmat item before I order the rest to make it worth it. I only order from Midway when I can't get it elsewhere, their UPS (or FedEx ?)/USPS handoff has made it for much longer ship times.
  23. I use standard shotgun 209 primers, CCI currently, and only one failed to ignite the powder. But the rifle didn't get a thorough cleaning last time because of the fire so that may of effected it a bit. The flash hole may of been a bit clogged or something so I won't put it on the Blackhorn.
  24. Black powder primers are not recommended for Blackhorn, so it probably was just pushed out by the primer.
  25. So, I guess I have been warming the planet for over 30 years. And the tradition will continue, these are for my granddaughter. Edit: yes that is the right time on the clock. I had to finish both after dinner. The things we do for our kids.
