  1. I respectfully disagree (though we may be debating semantics).... Lying on the table, it is an inert chunk of metal. It will not spontaneously throw a bullet. Someone had to handle the inert metal object, insert at least one round into it, and hold/handle/manipulate said loaded metal chunk, thereby causing the above sequence of events with the hammer/sear. If it sat there on the table unmolested, I would be my life it will not spontaneously 'go off'. Human actions had to take place for that bullet to fire. That is the guilty party IMO. Basic gun safety rules were violated.
  2. Exactly my point. If he gets off on the charge with this excuse, it sets a legal precedent and will be referenced ad nauseum. Nobody will be responsible any longer. Sounds about right for libtards.
  3. The level of stupidity required to accept the premise that an inert inanimate object spontaneously acted on its own behalf defies comprehension. Judge should throw the book at him during opening arguments. Guns don't just 'go off'. Honestly, if he were to get off on these charges, it would do more damage to gun rights than anything. You will have legally enshrined via case law responsibility to a chunk of metal, not the individual manipulating it. Baffles the mind that there are people stupid enough to accept this premise (and they get to vote!)
  4. Yeah, drove by there last week when they were putting the sign up. I would argue both locations will stay. The traffic in the mountains is too good to give up.
  5. My BIL recently recently retired early onto disability from one of the Murfreesboro dealerships....
  6. LOL @pop pop, at 18 my Dad told me to become a postman, 'you can retire in 20 years!' I cried a little on my 38th birthday, not gonna lie....
  7. Nice setup! I've been seriously toying with this idea for about a year now.... Agreed, in a dystopian future, it could be more than valuable. If nothing else, it's fun! I started looking into homebrewing beer, then looked at wine... But it's a whole lot of work, and frankly these smaller breweries do such a fine job even at 2 bucks a can, not worth the work? I saw a stainless steel setup at a local homebrew store for about 400 bucks. I'm tempted, but.. there's so much more to making good hooch than just collecting the parts? Have a book, lots of online material, but like reloading I wanna watch it once before committing, LOL! I thought I saw a place in Knox offering classes, but haven't been able to circle back to find it?
  8. Eugene Stoner, creator of the AR platform with some of his creations. (Image sours, Guns magazine, 1958)
  9. Now THATs an old Alec Baldwin movie!
  10. Lol! I was thinking: My Dad said that paper was worth an 'A'...
  11. Reading about it was daunting to me. Watching someone go through the three steps required made it much simpler to my mind. If you can't find someone locally, watch a few YouTube vids. Sourcing all the parts and pieces are a challenge right now, might get lucky find someone selling a complete setup (think estate sale).
  12. So these arm braces the ATF wants to outlaw are old news? Pshaw!
  13. I like my 686. Shoots well, great single-action trigger.
  14. Lucky gunner did a nice set of tests using gel blocks a few years back and published the results. Sold me on the Federal HSTs in 124gn.
  15. Lol, no Sir, have a lead on a local guy, but only sells it by the package... Haven't asked about a whole yet. Ironically, there's a Honduran guy on one of my job sites that used to be a butcher, processes deer on the side now, but I was told he could do a hog if I wanted. Got my wheels turning.
  16. I called around to a bunch of places and asked a lot of questions looking into that route... There's a place near me that charges flat rate for half, or whole, includes everything. First time I've used them, but the price was about what everyone else was telling me it would end up costing, but I had to pay the farmer for the steer, and butcher fee's myself, etc. I like the convenience this guy offers. One trip, hand over cash, drive away with meat, USDA inspected. Hopefully good meat. 16-18 mos old Angus. Will be some fancy tacos in our house on Tuesdays... Availability played an issue, too. Some places said their next available was March or June of next year. I put my order in for this one a month ago. 6 weeks wait total.
  17. Picked up a second freezer Saturday, there's a steer in Meigs county with a date at the butcher Monday morning.... I'll get him in two weeks. Anyone know a good hog farmer in EastTN?
  18. 'Sign says "no shirt, no shoes, no service".' Harrumph!
  19. Born and raised... was all I'd known since birth, its taught to you in school (and I don't think my schooling was indoctrination).. in some ways its a prideful thing, which is both good and bad. Reminds me of a mild case of jingoism.
  20. As an escapee... listen to @Jeb48. Honestly, one of the reasons I moved. We had a shotgun for home defense, but crime was still creeping in and getting worse despite living in a small country town outside a Knox-sized city. Kids broke into our garage, wifey agreed, it was time to get a pistol. Friend of a friend was a county Sheriff, had a talk with him. Said save my time, won't get a permit here, and even if I did, wouldn't matter, NY doesn't have castle doctrine/stand your ground law. Can't shoot the perp even if you had a gun. Loooooong conversation short: even if I caught someone raping my daughter in the act, I should call the police. Argument is you remove the criminals right to a fair trial by acting as judge/jury and shooting them. Yes. Really. I now live in Tennessee, and you'll understand why I say "I found America, again!"
  21. Keep the screws tight on them! Make American guns the best darned (mass) manufactured guns out there.
  22. Soviet anti-aircraft gun crew shoot at enemy planes with their DShK during the Siege of Leningrad, 9 October 1942. The Peter and Paul Fortress can be seen in the background.
