  1. They did. They did this too (...lifted verbatim from the "About Us" Brief History tab...): Got it right here: NRA Click the "about us" tab. leroy
  2. I bet if ya got one that runs off and will do it reliably you have a good case with the tort trash. I'm a bit skeptical though; kinda like the crows in the great classic disney movie "Dumbo". "...I've heard a diamond ring and ive seen a backporch swing. But i aint never seen an elephant fly!!"... Could be it's just me. By the way, there is a built in "failsafe'. Its called the ignition switch. Turn off when it runs off. Leroy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ns08C_ntsw
  3. Like Mike said; looks good! I believe ya got it! Keep up the good work. Leroy
  4. In the interest of full disclosure and philosophy. Here are few things i dont (...and some things i do....) believe that are revelant to this discussion: The first in in regard to my experience in the workplace. I worked for over forty years in the third most dangerous industry for which safety statistics are kept; the construction industry. It follows behind logging and mining. I worked in this industry at all levels from labor, to technical, to management. It has been said by some of it's critics that there was an "acceptable accident (...and death...) rate" for projects done. I never once attended a meeting or participated in a discussion where this "acceptable" accident rate was discussed. We strived for a "zero" accident and fatality rate. Many times that wasn't attained (....in the vast majority of times any accidents were caused by individual bad or careless decisions...). I never detected a corporate mentality that said there was an "acceptable" accident rate. Said another way; we never tried to kill our help or cover up dangerous defects in our product. Second, there is a fairly recent trend in "pop culture" to adhere to a philosophy of "zero responsibility' for any and all actions. Said another way, whatever happens to anybody is someone elses fault (...hopefully, the fault of those who have the most money...). This philosophy is constantly reinforced by TV commercials for these stinkin tort lawyers who say that somehow you have been victimized and are entitled to compensation for your own misdeads or even voluntary acts. On a personal basis; i find that to be a heinous way of looking at the world. I believe it feeds the "baser instincts of man" and appeals to lots of people because it is far easier to believe the lie that somehow "bad guys' victimized you than it is to actually take responsible for one's own individual actions. The fact is, ....you are responsible for you....; and the "fatcats and capitalists"of the world aint out to get you. If they were, they would kill off all their help and their customers. It just doesnt make sense from a logical or business standpoint. I will grant, that there may be some individual instances of corporate misdeads; but they are the rare exception rather than the rule. I simply do not believe there is a "fat cat capitalist bugger" behind every bush that is waiting to bushwhack the unspecting worker or consumer, and to make sure that he, she or it, have been properly mistreated. That, to me, is the ultimate 'whacko" conspiracy theory. I simply refuse to believe it. Third, im a student of history. If you take the time to read those who have given reasonable, scholarly accounts of the communist movement in europe starting with Marx; you will see this recurring theme that says that the "evil capitalists" are mercilessly exploiting the poor, downtrodden, hapless worker (...and by extension to this case; the clueless consumer...). For reasons incomprehensible at least to me; our country and much of our culture seem to be hopelessly infatuated with this malarkey that says somehow that business (...read that capitalism...) is evil and that somehow it is the job of government, regulatory bureaucrats, union demigogues, tort lawyers, and socialists to level the playing field for the "little guy". This shameful, heinous potrayal of business is at the very root of why we are in such a weak position in the manufacturing and construction segments of this country today. It is, i believe, the root of our slide in to third world status as a manufacturing power. It is why many are out of work and are poor in this country. Fourth, i'm a student of people. It has been my experience that it is very easy in today's rarified anti-business atmosphere to find a crop of "i told 'em so" (...pop culture whistleblower...) guys (...some with considerable credentials...) who are willing to feed this "coverup" view of the capitalist world. Some are sincere, some are narcistic physcopaths with a superiority complex, some are liars bought and paid for, and some are nuts. That's how the world is made up. The real trick to all this is to figure out who is telling the truth. Last of all, i dont believe that Toytotas run off by themselves (...i got one myself...). I dont believe that McDonalds is out to scald me with hot coffee nor kill me by feeding me a diet of quarterpounders. I dont believe that the sugar refiners are in an evil kabal to poison me and give me diabetes with refined sugar products. I dont believe that school system administrators and cooks are trying to fatten up and poision my grandchildren down at the school cafeteria. I dont believe that the the cooking oil producers have entered into an evil kabal to kill me with transfats. Nor do i believe that somehow rifles shoot their owners. Do i believe that corporations (...as well as individuals...) take the "least damage or liability" approach to problems? --- certainly. Lots of it due to the very things i have mentioned in the above paragraphs. Do i think that is bad or somehow evil? -- no. Leroy
  5. This is a great truth. East tennessee is solidly red, and has been since the civil war. Middle tennessee and west tennessee tend to be various shades of blue. RE: Beredesen. I agree with others that Sunquist single handedly made lots of folks who were going to republican democrats. It's important to remember that neither Sunquist not Bredesen are native Tennesseeans. Sunquist was from Missouri (...i think...) and Bredesen is an northeast yankee. They are both "carpetbaggers" who have come to tennessee to save us ignorant natives. They are both a disgrace. Bredesen just hid his disgraceful tendencies longer than most. Leroy
  6. I own three of these "bad" rifles. One is an old one from the early sixties (...benchrest gun...). One a target gun, one a hunting rifle. Two of these guns have light triggers (...probably less than 2 lb...). Never had one go off by its self or "accidently". You that think that it is the goal of american business to screw, maim, and mistreat it's customers should think about that a good while. I simply do not believe it is the policy of any company to willfully kill or maim its customers. That idea is a distinctly old song of the socialists, communists, and "one big unionites" that say all capitalist ventures are inherently bad; and that all capitalists are inherently bad. The fact of the matter is that guns are inherrently dangerous and they need to be handled very carefully. Failure to do so could have final results. Am i sorry for folks that get shot accidently? -- yes, of course. Do i have empathy for families of folks who are shot accidently? - of course. Do i think the "evil" gun did it by its self? - no. Do i think everything has a political component today? You bet!!!---it does. We are playing for all the marbles now. The stakes are eextremely high. Food for thought. Leroy
  7. Amen brother!! You are exactly, 100% right. The NRA aint a political party; it is a pro-gun, second amendment advocacy group. That's exactly what it was formed to be. Very insightful. Keep up the good work. Leroy
  8. I understand. At least, he votes consistently for the right things (...for the most part; as much as a politian can...). Remember this: I fully understand your point. We may need to modify the poll to "Polititians we dont hate YET". Remember- this is a fluid list. Names can dissappear and look like Enfield and Garufa's list quickly.I'd like to see fewer career polititians too. My guess is that it aint goin to happen unless we go back to Senators being appointed by state governors. There will never be term limits on these guys. At least Duncan (...for the time being...) has enough sense to know that you cant spend yourself into prosperity and that we tend to "vietnamize" everything because polititians cant seem to quit meddling in the military process. I think that is an insightful view. Leroy
  9. I agree with what Dolomite said in the post above. We used to do business with these guys too (...before i got too lazy to do this stuff...). Took some classes there too. They are nice folks. Leroy
  10. Jimmy Duncan, TN Second District Tim Burchett, Knox County Mayor Ron Ramsey, TN State District 2 Marsha Blackburn Leroy
  11. Daniel:_______________ A kind observation. Dont give in to the temptation to confuse "nut opinions" with satire --- take a look at 'em and grade them if they are good (...looks like you gave me an "F' on the first round; im kinda crestfallen about that; but i'll be ok -- sniff....). I, like you, and some others here believe that there are lots of lies being told everywhere. That's always the case with politics and any political party or movement, no matter how popular and winsome. The great thing about America is that that you can vote (...even if the candidates aint worth a damn ---most of them aint. ...), you can speak your peace in the public forum without being arrested (...for now...), and, greatest of all, we are still armed. The genius of America is being free. To stay free, lots of nutty and "over the top" things need saying. The trick is to sort 'em out, laugh at the funny ones, and cry at some of the truthful ones. BY THE WAY: I am pleased to announce that I too am opening a proper disposal depot for all the bad Remington 700's in the east tennessee region. Please contact me and i will arrange for proper shipping or pickup. Keep up the good work! Kind regards, Leroy -- Radical libertarian cynic, nut, apprentice satirist, and official Remington disposal officer for the East Tennessee region
  12. I like it!! He is exactly right. Thanks for posting this sobering clip. Keep up the good work! Kind regards, Leroy
  13. Dave:_______________ I think that's neat!! I think i can see ya in this picture: Link here: All sizes | USS NEW ORLEANS LPH-11 | Flickr - Photo Sharing! Kind regards. Leroy
  14. All:________________ Got me interested. Take a look here at Alibris. Here is the link: Alibris: the making of a quagmire I'll order it up pretty soon. I'm old enough to remember some of this. In the same vein titled "War is a Racket" by Smedley Butler, Old Corps Marine and USMC Retired Major General. Here is the Alibris link:Alibris: war is a racket. Butler was a two-time Congressional Medal of Honor winner and Major General in the Marine Corps. I believe he was the most highly decorated Marine in history. Won the medals in the "Banana Wars. Bio link here: Smedley Butler - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Check out this link for a speech exerpt: Smedley Butler on Interventionism. Dont necessarily agree with everything he said; but his views ought to be heard and thought on. Keep up the good work. Kind regards. leroy
  15. John:____________ I'll second what OS and Ae have said above. You may want to take a look at these guys. They do excellent work. Andrews Custom Leather. I've got a MacDaniel II. It is exremely well made; but i cant find the exact spot it needs to fit on my little rotund body. I've got everything from old Bianchi to Safariland to Mernickle (...another great outfit...) to D M Bullard. I say: "....Collect 'em all!...". Thats what always happens to me. Hope this helps. Kind regards, Leroy
  16. Daniel:____________ I believe you and mike are both right. Need to change my glasses. This is the one i ment to post: Link here: American Power: Best Tea Party Signs Blind Leroy
  17. Sounds to me like you woke up on the wrong side of the bed and someone peed in your Post Tosties this morning. I didnt do any of that to you. My advice to you is to take a baby apirin and lighten up. Found this in about 30 seconds in Democrat country, WV. Note the upper right hand corner. Hows that!?
  18. What a great and responsible job! I think we ought to get these things out every once and a while to demonstrate them. We need to do a little nuclear shooting and resume atmospheric testing. It sends the right message to those who might think about doing bad things. Kinda like standing out on the back porch of your home and rolling cans around with your pistol or rifle. It sends the right message. keep up the good work! Kind regards. Leroy
  19. Both you have nailed this ---a "Tempest in a Teapot". I believe that the Rev should calm down a bit, take a baby aspirin, and enjoy the celebrations (...our church will do the "Trunk or Treat" thing on saturday nite...). He also might want to think about the scriptural admonition concerning reaching out to others (...not lecturing them...). More than that; we are celebrating my dear wife's birthday; how could that possibly be bad?!!!. It is, indeed, an auspicious day ----- worthy of great celebration!! Keep up the good work! Happy Haloween! Leroy (...forgiven pagan...)
  20. AMEN BROTHER!! WELL SAID. WE SALUTE YOU. YOU ARE DEAD RIGHT!!! We still are privileged to live in the greatest country on the face of the earth. The Creator has allowed us to live in the time of the right to vote where individuals can, in fact, have some impact on their leadership thru the voting process thru the rights of free political speech and the right to bear arms. Those three things together make this country great. The vote wont work if the other two things are not in place. Thats the upside of our great nation. The downside is the quality of the candidates (...for the most part...). My first vote was in 1968 where i had the honor and privilege to vote against that great Democrat (...not Demorat; he wasn't a commie...) Hubert M Humphrey (....i also voted against a third party candidate named George Wallace...). I cast my vote for the infamous Richard M (...Mousehouse...) Nixon. Things were pretty hot in those days due to Vietnam and the squalling of the civil rights movement. Those were interesting times. Still, it was a great thing to be able to vote (....i was 22 years old at the time...)!! Nixon carried 32 states and won in a landslide. I have voted in ever election since that time; local, state, and federal. I (...like Mark...) am always both gladdened and humbled at the opportunity to vote. The candidates may be pitiful, crooked, or commie; but the US Constitutional process is great. Remember this picture. The right for that donkey to carry those ballots and allow the woman to vote cost a bunch. Folks would do well to remember that and thank the Creator for the privilege that, sadly, many in America take for granted or are cynical about. Thanks to all you veterans who have secured and continue to secure this great blessing for us all!!! Food for thought. Leroy
  21. peejman:____________ I believe you have put your finger directly on it. The great symbol of the Tea Party is the minuteman armed with his rifle. rifle = bad. Tea Party = bad. A bunch of rogue nuts = bad for the country. Having said all that; i doubt it will work. I believe the average guy is more afraid of rogue government now than the Tea Party minuteman. I see that as a good thing. Paraphrasing what the infamous Karl Marx (....the left's real "Patron Saint"....) said in his intro the the Communist Manifesto (...the sacred text for this socialist trash...): "....There is a spectre haunting the "ruling class" in America today. The spectre of defeat of soft socialism and the casting out of the "ruling elites (...and the realignment [...or demise...] of some of the political parties...)"!..... Real American Citizens arise! You have nothing to loose but your chains !!..." I admit it's a bit over the top; but i believe its exactly right. Check this link out: Right Wing News Text here: Keep up the good work! Kind regards Leroy
  22. Me too. Had a buddy with a Anschutz 22 hornet sporter. Greatest gun i've ever shot (...to date, testing is still going on...) period! Keep testing for the greatest! Kind regards, Leroy PS--Anybody old enough there to have helped fire the great "Atomic Cannon"? It had to be the best ever!! This looks like the real deal. Tested May 25, 1953. Fifteen kiloton shot. Tested at Frenchman Flats-Nevada Test Sight. Seven mile shot, air blast. Link here:The Atomic Cannon
  23. Glockster:_____________ Glad to help. My stuff is pretty old. I like the idea of using a ball type powder too --- especially the WW 760; easier to measure and you might be able to get by with not trickling every load (...we always had too with the stick powders...). I'm astounded at the velocities and SD with what you have. Thats a lot of umph and very consistent. We never did try the spire points; but im sure they work very well. Ive used a ton of them in 222's. They are very accurate. We tried the 300 spbt's becuse they had just come out. I still love the profile of these bullets!! They are both streamlined and big as a bus. I cant wait to hear about the lead bullet tests. You have inspired me to get my Ruger #1 458 back out (...and the 375 too, for that matter...) and start experimentng again myself. Years ago I quickly put together a bunch of 350 grain lyman flatnoses (...without gas checks...) that an ole buddy of mine cast and sized for me for the 458 (...they were old time bullets for the 45-70, i think...). I couldnt keep them on an 8 1/2 by 11 at 50 yards. I think i loaded them too hot and they were either stripping the rifling or melting the bases (...used IMR3030 jacketed bullet data; i think....). You've inspired me to pull the lead bullets (...stupid me; loaded about 100 or so of them -- a lifetime supply!!...) and start again on the reduced loads for the 458. I may just order some jacketed 350 grain flatnoses and redo the powder from the pulled rounds. Anyway, keep up the good work and let us know what the "Pilgrim's Progress" is with the lead rounds! Kind regards, Leroy
  24. Bite the bullet and buy either a Filson Mackinaw jacket (...link here: Filson Clothing -- Filson shirts, jackets, sweaters and more : from David Morgan or here; Better Outdoor Clothing | Better Outdoor Gear | Filson) or a swanndri (...link here: Bushshirts - Swanndri). Cry once and buy once. I have a couple of filsons that i have had for 30+ years. The Swanndri stuff is just as good and a bit cheaper (...it still aint cheap in relative terms...). Both the filson and swanndri are waterproof and warm. You cant wear them out. Hope this helps. Kind regards, Leroy
  25. Yes. I simply will not vote for a Demorat, no matter how winsome. McWerter is a Demorat of the worst kind -- i believe nothing he believes. It's really a 'hold your nose' or lesser of evils vote thing. Leroy
