  1. Wasn't Texas settled mainly by Tennesseans? I like atexas too, but we really ned to tighten up that border. I like the Hill country best, Austin and en virons, but when in S.A. i'd be sure to check out the Alamo. I've been to S.A. severalo times and always try to go the Alamo. Even if it was overglorified by legends and movies...its still impressive what so few did.
  2. This dont sound good to me...if report is true, then the ATF can just CHANGE what is considered a pistol round and raid a place the next day? And not allowing him a copy of the warrant smacks of too much secrecy and nazism to me...
  3. Mine was not memorable but I heard about a class recently where the instructor shot off his pinky!
  4. I think the term is meant to convey the place you go the first time you carry in public once you get your permit, no matter where that might be. No matter how long you've been a firearms enthusiast, there IS a certain feeling the first time you carry in public as a private citizen. Kinda like you halfway expect everyone will immediately see that you are armed, lol.

  6. Congrats! I retired from active duty in 1993 after a little over 20 years. Couple more years and I will be retired as long as I was in, lol. Still not used to it. Still have trouble deciding what to wear each morning. Still not used to the way civilians think, or seem not to.
  7. She WAS driving, lol, every day, i swear it, and was a pretty safe driver, at least accident free. Don't get me wrong though, Id lean towards less laws not more.
  8. There was a time when you could do that...was it wrong then? No, I wouldn't do it now because the law is pretty clear on this. But I DO understand the sentiment. When you work hard to get what little ya got, you don't appreciate some non working SOB stealing it, and most lilely getting away with it too. And I'll tell ya this much, when I was a kid, we didn't steal and one of the reason was that you stood a damn good chance of getting your ass shot off. I'm not so sure that that wasnt a better way back then.
  9. DITTO. I have my preferences, but goal number one has to be getting him out.
  10. Probably according to the way the law is interpreted, he could be charged. Acording to what I see as right and wrong, he should not. Often it depends on the opinions of the local PD and prosecuters.
  11. I think Loughner had enough of a history that I wouldnt have a prob with denying him, but how do you keep track of these people? Who would decide who goes into the dont arm database? Might be a slippery slope, but could be worked out. I worked with areally really smart older lady a few years ago that was finally diagnosed with senile dementia...some time before that tho she came to me asking if I would train her on how to shoot a pistol...she said she lived alone in a rough nieghborhood and was afraid. I was actually thinking about trying to help her, when she went on to say that there was a man bothering her, and that she never saw him, but she knew he was in her home because he would leave dirty drinking glasses in her sink and she heard him sleeping one night under her bed. After a couple trips to her house with a co worker, of course I saw she had lost her mind...I know I digress here, but it really brings to light the fact that people who are freaking nuts are often not diagnosed...cant see how to weed out those folks without also weeding out many more of us who might not fit the mold of what some see as normal...In any event, wed better be writing our reps in DC and mobilizing things cua they ARE gonna try to do some gun control....and the way to get it thru is to make it small, but with the possiblilities of more down the road...once they get their foot in that door...look at the ATF now...running rampant over our rights...
  12. I'm starting to get a little bit concerned that he may be somewhat successfull at this...
  13. Thank you for organizing this! I wasnt able to go this time, but want to in the future!
  14. I don't remember seeing this posted here before...A wholly unscientific, but very visually appealing video. Kinda makes me wanna carry a siper rifle, LMAO:
  15. Anyone point me in the right direction to find out more about this rapid reloading system??
  16. where's the pics?
  17. My prayers with you also.
  18. While I'm sure that the ATF does do some good, I've never been a fan of theirs at all. Their trampling of the 2nd Amendment alone has been enough to make them repugnant to me, much less the "cowboy" fashion that they tend to operate in the field. I hope that Congress can track this to the top. I seriously doubt that the initial decsions came from the White House, but like they say, what did he know and when did he know it? It was after the fact knowledge like this that helped bring down Nixon.
  19. I don't think anyone here seriously blames the holster, just like they don't blame a Glock when someone does the wrong thing. The point that some were making is that that holster contributed to the ND via its design. Is it a bad design? Probably not really, at least without the operator error added in its not. It was STILL operator error, no doubt about that. Its not Serpa's fault at all and no one is saying it is. And as far as Glocks go....obviously some of us do not embrace the design and choose not to carry them. Is there anything wrong with them? No, I doubt it, but some people think that they are more prone to have a ND due to operator error with that type of gun and choose to not carry it. In investigating accidents, there are usually contributing factors. Perhaps all of the factors added together, when there is NO operator error, will not result in an accident, but take any one or two of the factors and add in operator error, and you have the accident. Conversely, sometimes operator error, without a contributing factor, will NOT result in an accident. They don't call them "on purposes" lol.
  20. Not bad...I saw some online the other day that were a combination of rubber and rosewood...I think by Pachmyer, anyway, they looked really nice. I have some rubber Hogues with finger grooves on my Sig carry...but those wood/rubber ones look good enough to make me wanna change, lol. I tried to post a pic, but despite my being able to do it many other times, today I couldn't...
  21. Good idea. I like it.
  22. I agree. Although I consider myself a trained, responsible person, I also know that I have made stupid mistakes. Luckily for me, none that resulted in a ND, but still...complacency breeds a lack of attention to detail, which can result in the above. I LIKE seeing stuff like this, as it reminds me of that.
  23. You're probably right. I'm probably being paranoid. And, yes, I agree that it looks like the NG Commander would be in charge, but if the he were then subsequently Federalized, what then? ahhh, nevermind, this sounds paranoid even to me, lol. BUT, don't forget, just because one is paranoid, it doesn't mean that someone isn't really out to get you! LMAO.
  24. Probably not, but a while ago I read something that seems to me to be quite logical. It was that if one doesn't practice enough with one's EDC firearm, due primarily to ammo costs, then there is still much to be gained by practicing with a similarly operated and sized .22. Theory is that no, it's NOT the same as practicing with one's EDC firearm, but many of the same benefits can be realized, and at a much reduce cost. Theory went on to give examples like if you carry a 1911, perhaps you could practice with 1 1911 .22 more often than you could with a .45, likewise for revolvers...seems to make some sense to me. If I get the 1911-22, then I plan on shooting it maybe weekly, and of course still shoot the 1911 as well, just not as much as weekly.
