  1. Got my first shot yesterday. No problems but slightly sore arm this morning. The V A had the gym floor loaded with 20 shot booths. When first arrived had to fill out paperwork then take a number, turn in the completed papers, then when your number was called you went to a shot booth and they asked several more questions. She then gave my shot, then I had to sit for 15 minutes for observation for side effects. After the 15 min was up I stood up and left. Took about 25 minutes in all. They were giving shots, continually, in all 20 booths. Lots of old soldiers were there taking the vaccinations. I go back in 4 weeks. They give you a shot record and a side effects paper to fill out and bring back. Tell you this vaccine is given under emergency approval. Guys we are the continuation of the fact gathering on a new, unapproved study. If you have any serious side effects to the vaccination, I have a number to report the side effects immediately. I am a willing participant. The Nurse told me the second shot comes with a few more discomforts. Asked about taking moteron of Ibuprofen, for the aches and pains, and she advised only Tylenol. Said side effects show the shot is immunizing your body to the fullest extent and you don't want to do anything to lessen that process. Don't know if That is fact, but what do I know? That's My Story. Edited to add; Get the shots, guys!
  2. (Quote) And getting baptized isn't necessary, (Mark 16:15-16) And He said to them, go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.
  3. I was thinking of this a few days ago. Years ago (80's) when I was a very young Christian, and not very experienced, I was asked to join with 2 other guys to go and talk to a man (fellow Christian) who had left his middle aged wife for a very young coed. They were living together at that time. Others had tried to reach him, but were unable as he was ducking them. I went more or less as a supporter in body. We went to his work place and confronted him by surprise. We stood there, and he talked with us, mostly just chit chat. The longer we chatted I started thinking someone needs to bring the subject up and we need to discuss the reason we came there for. time passed and no one did. I was very unexperienced, at this sort of thing, so I just silently prayed to God, and asked Him to help me talk to this man effectively. Well, I started, and after chatting for a few minutes I became aware that I really didn't know where the words coming out of my mouth were coming from. I finished, we prayed for him, in a very loving way(meaning I didn't not drop a sledge hammer on him in our conversation), then left. As we left everyone in the car was quiet as we traveled back to the church building where we had parked our cars. As we drove I was thinking of what just transpired, and my conversation with our errant friend. I slowly began to think God gave me those words to try and reach this man. It was like my mouth was moving, and I didn't know where the words were coming from, but I was speaking. Like I said no one was saying a word in that car and i was alone in my thoughts. When we arrived back at the building, I said well guys, we did and said what we had to do. We prayed for our friend again. I finally told them I just hope we were able to make him consider what he is doing and what he was throwing away. He had been married for 20 years. I told him, if he continued in this arrangement, he was in danger of loosing his soul, and out of fervent love for God, him, and his family, I could not live with myself, if I didn't tell him that. Long story short, when I read his obituary a few months back I was filled with great Joy. Not for what I said, or the very little part we played in this man's life, but that God used us to encourage him to get straight and come back the church, God, and back to us. He straightened himself up and came back to the church, repented, and his wife allowed him to came back into their home, with 3 children, and he passed away a faithful Christian many years later. To God be the glory in all this. I only tell you this, not to brag, but It was the first time I realized God works in our lives. It made me take serious notice to what I did and how I was living my life. I have had 4 other occasions, one where it changed my life and faith to this day, when I realize God has used me, or taken care of me in spite of myself. God looks out for the humble in heart, and His children in more ways than we ever know. It is life altering when you realize God is on the job, in Your life. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER DOUB IT!
  4. Get my first shot tomorrow(Wed) at 1:00 PM, L/w, at the local Alvin York V A Hosp. I am looking forward to getting it. The second shot is already set for 4 weeks. Getting the Moderna vaccine.
  5. A fellow reloaded friend just posted, on another forum, he saw where a box of small pistol primers(1000) brought 237.00, at a online auction, with others going close to that mark. Sheetz guys!
  6. A fellow reloaded friend just posted he saw where a box of small pistol primers(1000) brought 237.00, at a online auction, with others going close to that mark. My ammo and reloading components are worth more than my guns are with these kinds of prices.
  7. Bryce Canyon is my wife's favorite.
  8. Daniel, we will be traveling in a 35 foot 5th wheel RV. Have plans to take our time.
  9. We have a daughter that is against taking the shot. Her son, who has downs syndrome, needs the shot, IMO. He goes with us camping all the time. Hoping she relents after we get ours. We have plans of making our out west trip in June. Gong to the Grand Canyon, Glen Canyon Dam, Zion N P, Las Vegas, then up through Utah (Salt Lake City) into Idaho, then across Oregon and down into Northern California, then back through Colorado and back into Middle Tennessee. We don't feel good about taking Cody with us if he is not vaccinated for Coved. I told my wife if he gets Coved, and gets put into the hospital, and can have no visitors, he would be terrified. As you know, this disease is one, that if you get it, and you pass away, you do it ALONE. I can't imagine that child being put into the hospital and "possibly" dying alone. Scary thought! Hope she sees nothing happening to us, after we get vaccinated, then she will allow him to get the shots. Only way we will take him with us on this trip. If we make this trip then we will have camped in all of the lower 48 states. We lack 3 states now, Nevada, Oregon, and California. Hoping to get them checked off the "Bucket List" this year. Wednesday is the big day for me getting my first shot.
  10. The local V A Hospital called me this morning, and I get my first Coved shot on Wednesday(27th) and the second 4 weeks later. Getting the Moderna(S) Vaccine. Will be exceedingly glad. Been told to take a Modem tablet prior. Let you know how it goes.
  11. Saw a review on the 6.8 on Gun's and Ammo TV yesterday. Basically it is a caliber that has a 100 yard advantage over the 556. Supposed to be more accurate out to 600 yards instead of the 500 yards for 556, for the military. Was developed for the special forces military. So it's advantage is a slight distance advantage. No I don't plan to purchase one of these rifles. My 7MM 08 will be sufficient for me.

    Prayer for him this morning.
  13. I would wait for a while to see if they have bugs.
  14. Got a call, this morning, from a lady I taught to shoot several years ago. I posted about her a few years back. Her husband died and she was terrified and couldn't sleep after dark. I took a 38Spl, her late husband had purchased for her years before, and taught her how to shoot the revolver and gave her self defense ammo to go with it. It helped her self confidence tremendously. She has since married again and living with her new husband. She called this morning and asked if I knew someone who would like some old ammo her first husband had bought several years ago. I told her my grandson shoots skeet and that he could probably use it for practice. She told me it had been stored in an air conditioned house and she had forgotten about it being in a up stairs closets and she wanted it gone. I went to pick it up this afternoon, and she had 12 Ga, 16 Ga, and one box of 410. In all she gave me 19 boxes of Federal, and Winchester shotgun shells. I offered to pay he for it, but she just wanted to get rid of it. She said it was too old to charge me for it, however It looks new in the original boxes, but is over 10 years old. Grandson will love the 12 Ga and I kept the 3 boxes 16 Ga and 410. Going to give the 16 Ga Rem 1148 to youngest grandson, in S Carolina, and he, and his dad will shoot the ammo. Grandson's dad called me and told me he purchased some 20 Ga ammo last week, and set him back 21.00 per box to hunt swamp rabbits with in S Carolina. Some days turn out good!!!!!!!
  15. I put 30 years in with the Post Office. I can tell you their problems is a management problem. The P O went down after they decided to put their money into the national coffers. Then they started not filling positions and now have a manpower problem. They don't pay part time labor well so they don't get many good temporaries. Also when they gave them permission to allow 1st class mail to set in the office, it was like you give an inch, and they took a mile. It is not the Labor Unions fault. You can't move large volumes of mail with no one to move it. Like I said, it is a management problem. Still have a daughter who works in the Murfreesboro office. They have 7 clerks and 3 window clerks in the Church street office. When I worked there we had 40 clerks not counting window clerks. Times, they are a changing. Pay more to mail, less people to move it. MANAGEMENT GUYS.
  16. Thanks for the comments guys. I have not handled the SW EZ and am not a fan of a grip safety's. Will see when I can find one.
  17. I try never to drift into another lane while turning. It was a thing to fail government drivers on when getting gov drivers license. I worked for the Post Office for 30 years. Glad you got out of it without using more force than you did. Road Rage can get serious!
  18. I want to purchase one of these new EZ 9MM pistols, because my Arthritis is getting much worse. The Dr took me off Meloxicam (was taking it for arthritis, and diabetic neuropathy) so I quit taking it for 16 days. I hurt so bad I had to go back on it. I have been waiting, to purchase the pistol, so they can get the bugs worked out of them, but they sure seem to have many bugs at present. Even a recall for certain serial numbers. I know the EZ 380 has been out for several months, with good success, however the 9MM is my interest. I now have 2 S W M P 9MM compact 2.0 4" brl and really like the platform. I carry one often. The regular one I have has proved to be very reliable, and I like the 15+1 round count, but the EZ is 10 +1 and a tad bit thinner. "Supposed" to be much easier for arthritic hands to rack????? Do any of you all have any experience with this model SW?
  19. Seen a couple articles that said the new Pres is touting a 200.00 tax on semi autos and 200.00 on each high compacity magazines on all guns, even the ones one posses now. If my math is correct???? cost a man 600.00 for his Glock 19 with 2 mags. Wouzer! Just look at what your pistol owners are looking forward too. Makes me think about the mayor of Nashville, and council just raised property tax 34% in one year. His reasoning, no tourist, no tax money coming in, and Nash needs the money. By the way he shut Nashville down and still has his fist on most businesses that can't operate at full strength or compacity. Hope the new tax does not make it. If so, I will be selling mine to the Gov. and their new proposed bi-back plan. Can't live with that tax.
  20. Just watched a news conference on the Church shooting, on Jan 3, in Texas. The pastor was killed and another wounded. The Sherriff said there were 2 members in attendance, carrying, and the suspect disarmed the pastor and shot him with his own gun. When asked by a reporter what he what advice he would give others, concerning church safety and security the Sherriff stated he didn't want to second guess anyone in this church shooting, but he said, "If your going to pack a gun you had better be ready to use it." Good advice, IMO. I will add, do it with as much determination as one can bring himself too. You are in a fight for your life when you present your weapon guys.
  21. I am so fed up with what is going on in this country, I have just quit watching the NEW any more. Politics turns my stomach. always has. All it does is depress me so I just don't watch it anymore. I voted and lost. So be it. The sun will rise in the morning and life will go on. I am glad I am not dependent on Washington and Just am not interested any more. Turn off the tube and read and study your Bibles. Train yourself to live like God wants you too. That is what really counts guys. What happens in Washington is minimal in life.

We received the Dakota 4000 driveway monitor yesterday and installed it this morning. Berried the magnetic sensor in the middle of the driveway about 45' from the end of the drive. Works great. The wireless receiver is in my dining room and loud enough that we can clearly hear it in the bedroom. The receiver is set on a 6 gong chime. The transmitter runs on 3 C123 Batteries and supposed to last 12 months. It is mounted in a shrub tree about 50" from the magnetic sensor, and to the side of the driveway. The sensor is about 275' down the drive. Wife just left to go to the store and it works great. "Hopefully" we will hear when late night visitors decide to come visiting, like they did just before Christmas.
  23. I would like to purchase a 9MM EZ but going to wait for a while. My arthritis, in my hands, is getting worse and I am going to need one in the future, I am almost certain. Waiting for SW to get the bugs worked out.
  24. Audi Murphy, and my cousin. Jack was the most decorated Kentuckian of WWII. He won ever medal the U S gives "except" for the MOH. He has the equivalent MOH form Italy and France. He had 9 purple hearts from WWII. He fought against Rommel in N Africa. He did all this by the time he was 19. Lied about his age and went into the Army at 15. Was in all theaters of the great war, the world calls it. He disliked the Japanese soldiers because he said they would kill and mutilate. I spoke at his funeral 4 years ago. Darnell, his wife told me war was H for him. Said he never got a full nights sleep, after he came home, unless he was drugged. He would not take the drugs, and set up nights drinking coffee and listening to country music on the radio. He died at 84. He was my childhood hero because he did cool things, I thought. I never knew his war record, just he had a lot of metals, until I went to his funeral. He never discussed his war time. There were 11 WWII vets that attended his funeral. It was a moving experience. The Bible talks about "Mighty Men." Audie Murphy and Claude Jack Reed were mighty men, IMO. I am sure you have heard the story an old Army sergeant penned, "Of Wolves and Sheep Dogs." Men like these old warriors are true "Sheep Dogs" in the truest sense of the word. They fought to stop a "madman" and "rouge nation." Just causes, IMO. Much unlike my war, Vietnam. Edited to add; Cousin Jack loved Patton. He fought under him in N Africa and Italy and until Patton slapped the kid and lost his command.
