Man...that's a quick turn around now. Have you planned when you're going to do your obligatory Walmart trip?

Let me run some ideas past you. Possible changes to TGO.
Trekbike replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat
I find post counts somewhat useful. If you spend about a week on the forum you can usually see who knows their stuff and who is just posting responses for the heck of it. Sometimes just looking at someone's spelling and grammar can speak volumes. I usually try to follow the rule that if I don't have about a 85-90% certainty about a technical type question, I usually keep my mouth shut. If I'm passing out advice I want it to be somewhat credible. I think by just doing that we would increase the "expert" responses significantly and cut down on the trash. -
OP, you mentioned you loaded "half a dozen or so" rounds. I'm guessing that means 6 - 8ish rounds. It does sound like the two rounds you fired didn't have powder, but the odds of missing two cases out of 6 - 8ish and then picked those for the first two rounds to shoot sounds like extremely large odds. Step me through the sequence when you charge the cases. Are you using a progressive press? For me I load on a single stage press and use the 50 round loading trays and work up 100-200 rounds at a time. I do the same operation on all the cases and then move onto the next operation. During the charging operation I load directly into the cases in the tray. I weigh the charges several times until I convinced I'm getting what I want. I then weigh again every 10 rounds for the first 30 rounds. After all the 50 cases have been charged in the tray I visually look at each case compared to the rest to catch any missed cases or double charges. The charging operation is the most dangerous one so I'm extra extra careful on that step.

ARMALASER - A SMALL REVIEW
Trekbike replied to FIRERESCUEO2's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Thanks for the detailed review. If I understand your comments, you have to put your finger inside the trigger guard for it to activate the laser? I know the LCP has a very long trigger pull but that doesn't sound safe IMHO...but I guess you're not going to need the laser until your ready to use the bang switch anyway. -
Is your EDC also your nightstand gun?
Trekbike replied to Sandman's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
No. M&P40 is the NSG. 642 is my EDC. -
Middle TN Polar Bear Meet & Shoot ... December 26th?
Trekbike replied to TGO David's topic in Events and Gatherings
Nope. CHMR -
I do have to say the OD works for me as well and I'm not a Glock owner.

Yea, a pressure switch would finish it off nicely if you could figure out a way to do it. Even if you can't, it's still a great idea.

I handled one today and thought it was verrry nice but I'm going to wait on the .40 version. The one I saw was not out on display but was told the price was going to be in the $610 range.

Why do your do your own reloading?
Trekbike replied to RobertNashville's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
You two already listed most of my reasons for reloading. Regarding your comment about saving money, technically that's true compared to factory costs round for round, but most will tell you that you don't save money...you just get to shoot much more for the same $. Sometimes you end up spending more. Been doing it for about 25 years on the same RCBS equipment. Go ahead and take the plunge. -
Now that's quite a few rounds...
Trekbike replied to A.J. Holst's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Did you see this thread a while back? It might make you feel less paranoid...especially when you read post #4 from Mike. Edit: I guess I should have posted the link the first time. Sorry http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/handgun-carry-self-defense/45255-how-much-ammo-do-you-carry-edc.html -
Yea what they said. Currently the orange background is too powerful. Less is more.

Made my first big time reloading mistake
Trekbike replied to analog_kidd's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
How far did the first bullet travel down the barrel? One thing you didn't mention was the OAL. Any chance you didn't seat the bullet deep enough which would lower the pressure? -
Made my first big time reloading mistake
Trekbike replied to analog_kidd's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Just wondering if the powder ignited at all...any chance the primer was the only thing that discharged? -
I saw the tab last night and clicked on it and found myself in bizarro world. I've never seen so many cuss words in such a short amount of time. It almost made me say WTF?

Very nice indeed...the older I get the more I like the Vaquero models.

Behaviour in the bathroom while carrying?
Trekbike replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
LMAO -
I was thinking maybe it's more like holsters are about the same as shoes to a woman...you know, first what am I wearing that day, and what holster and carry mode works the best? When I started to carry it helped me to understand, (a little), the multiple shoes and purse thing for a woman.

Yes, simple dry firing helps smooth it out some.

If some of you read American Handgunner magazine you likely see a regular section called, “Add It Upâ€. It has different numbers and statistics that are interesting. (BTW you can read the digital copy online for free.) The Jan/Feb 2011 issue had these numbers for the percentage of presidential staff who worked in the private business sector before being appointed to cabinet posts. Eisenhower - 57% Reagan - 56% Clinton - 39% G W Bush - 55% Obama - 8% In other words 92% of Obama’s cabinet positions are filled with people who never worked in private sector business, only in government, academia, or non-profit jobs.

Got one for my wife. Good gun. No trouble here. The only thing I wish it had was "lock back on empty" but hey, you can't have everything. Whatever model you get, go ahead and get some dummy rounds to help with training for her to know the sequence for when it goes click instead of bang.

Not sure where your doing your M&P shopping...Most I see are in the $550 range.

+1 to using a .22 to start out. That worked great for my wife and daughter. As a side suggestion you may not want shoot during her first time out so you can give her your full attention. Or at least wait until she's done for the day.

I agree that the convention center will posted. My comments about black listing the posted restaurants were for eating off premises whether the tourist was carrying or not. I'm betting most of them will be just like us and won't go into a posted business even when not carrying. I wouldn't be surprised to see some posted restaurants in the downtown area conveniently remove the signs just while the convention is in town in order to get some of the business from the tourists.
