I don’t think I’ve ever bought anything from CTD but I have no problem with their use of capitalism to make a buck. A fair price is whatever a buyer is willing to pay and CTD is willing to accept. I’ve seen some of their prices and sometimes they are stupid but the same can be said about some of the classifieds here.

I think it was Chuck Taylor who said “Beware of the man with one gun.” I don’t see anything wrong with switching from one platform to another for a while. But the guy who carries a CZ on Monday, a Glock on Tuesday, a 1911 Thursday, and a J-frame Saturday is not helping himself.

Nice shooting! A friend got a Marlin 1895 SBL two or three years ago right before the price on them went sky high. His 300 grain loads were pretty stout, but his 400 grain loads were just plain no fun. Either one would probably put a whooping on a deer, as you demonstrated.

I am no Vaquero expert, but I believe there are two versions and the original was identical (sizewise) to a Blackhawk frame. The "New Vaquero" is closer in size to a Colt SAA. There may not be enough difference between the two to matter, but it may be worthwhile to confirm which Vaquero that holster fits.

Another Marlin model 60 here. Also has the squirrel on the stock. Got it 42? years ago and I still have it.

I have its older early 1980s pre-Mark II tang safety cousin in .30-06. It was my dad’s and I killed my first deer with it. I’ve always liked M77s. Nice rifle, GLWS.

Exactly. I don't get the desire to own some badass dog pit or otherwise, but having them in the house where babies are crawling around on the floor is idiotic.

The reason is they are just dumb animals and one can never be sure what they will do, even if they are the person who feeds them. I used to work outside and often went to homes. Over the years, more than a few dogs that knew me and saw me often would suddenly get aggressive out of the blue for no apparent reason and act like crackheads. The owners always sang the same tune - “I’ve never seen him act like that!” Well you have now. No animal is completely predictable. Pit bulls get a lot of bad press, but this is true for pretty much any breed.

Not according to UPS’ new rules. “Firearm Products” are restricted to FFLs, etc, but UPS now defines pretty much any gun part as a “Firearm Product.” From their website; “Firearm Part” is any part or component of a Firearm that does not by itself meet the definition of a “Firearm.” By way of example only, Firearm Parts include, but are not limited to, barrels, stocks, grips, firing pins, sights, and magazines/clips. “Firearm Products” means Firearms and Firearm Parts. The term Firearm Product does not include scopes. UPS accepts packages containing Firearm Products for shipment only as a contractual service and only from Shippers who are licensed importers, licensed manufacturers, licensed dealers, or licensed collectors (as defined in Title 18, Chapter 44 of the United States Code) to authorized recipients, as outlined in the approved UPS agreement for the transportation of Firearm Products. To transport packages containing Firearm Products, the Shipper must enter into an approved UPS agreement for the transportation of Firearm Products. It doesn’t look like Fedex restricts parts yet, but I wouldn’t be shocked if that also changes.

Talked to a fellow at the range yesterday who was trying to ship a slide at UPS (not the UPS Store) and was told that he had to A) have a UPS account B) sign a firearms shipper agreement and C) schedule a pickup. He was not sending it to a manufacturer for warranty work.

This. We always hear about how kids will be grown before you know it, but sometimes your parents are gone before you know it. Boy do my wife and I know.
