That would have been Ronald Reagan, who proposed a North American initiative before his election. The idea has been floating around since the 19th century though. NAFTA has worked extremely well. Free trade always does. Protectionism does not. I agree with Len that helping Mexico's economy will also reduce illegals here. Of course I'm on the side that says people have a basic freedom to pursue their own economic interests, regardless of borders.

Made some mods to the Glock. Thoughts?
The Rabbi replied to a topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
This is your problem. This constant yanking to the left. Modifying a Glock won't help that. You need to read some good books on economics. Start with Milton Friedman. At the very worst you will end up yanking to the right, which isn't as bad. At least you'll be in good company on this forum. -
We don't register guns, big screen TVs, Nike sneakers or anything else like that. And thank Gd for it! But you wouldn't believe how many people I get through the shop wanting to know if "the gun will be in my name." I tell them, we dont register guns here. But they still want to know whether they're the legal owner. THey just can't understand that buying a gun really isn't much more than a pair of shoes or a prescription drug.

Failure to Feed in Glock 27 - please help
The Rabbi replied to PackinMama's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Get a very experienced shooter to fire the gun. If it works fine, then it's you. If not, its probably the magazines. Other suggestion: get a Model 23, which will provide all the grip you want. The difference in size is not that much. -
I'll bet that would be funnier in Serbo-Croation.

If you ever have to stave off a home invasion by Cape Buffalo you are well-armed. I want to hear about the recoil.

Including one I could name but won't. Let's just say he knows his way around the Big Easy. -

Obama statement on gun violence
The Rabbi replied to 2000silverz28's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Bingo. That Obama's a piece of sh*t and I told him to go suck on my machine gun. Honestly I hope he gets the nomination after a brutal divisive battle. Even a RINO like McCain will have no problem taking him apart in debates when it comes to substance. You can't beat someone with no one and Obama is truly a no one. -

How much for the little girl? -
I know DrBoomBoom has one so maybe he'll chime in. He seems pretty pleased with his.

And an idea or two. You see that light bulb over his head? -
Tell her you're sure gonna miss her. Kimbers are the Jaguars of the gun world. Absolutely gorgeous and when they work they work better than almost anything else out there. But they have severe maintenance and durability issues from what I've seen.
-
I have a Century Arms, which is the same thing, in commander size in the case. It is fine. Absolutely nothing wrong with the gun and loaded with neat-o features like extended grip safety, skeleton trigger etc. For a carry 1911 I dont think you could beat it. And if it gets stolen you won't be kicking yourself because it's a 399 gun.

Someone's tin foil hit is slipping off, allowing those dangerous rays to invade his skull. Sheesh. Biggest bunch of nonsense I've seen in a long time.

That's sort of an over-simplification. Every bullet has an optimal velocity. Too fast and it will fragment and fail to penetrate sufficiently. Too slow and it will fail to expand. The 9mm was designed as a 124gr bullet. The 115s gained a poor reputation as a result of the LA shootout, when the bullets failed to penetrate sufficiently. But I agree that in ball ammo the .45acp is king.
-
I have 5 different 9mm PD loads on the shelf now, including TAP 124gr, Federal Expanding FMJ, and the exotic Lapua CEPP Extra. All of them will work great. I personally prefer heavier bullets, 124gr etc, to the 115gr hps. But that's me. Experiment and find one that works best for you. But there is no magic bullet that will turn a marginal hit into a one stop shot.

How Not To Do A Straw Purchase
The Rabbi replied to The Rabbi's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
This really isn't an issue. Anyone can give a gun as a gift to someone else and they are still the "actual buyer." The issue comes when the recipient is going to pay the buyer back, esp where the recipient is prohibited. This is why I say it is so easy to defeat the issue and people who can't are clods. -
How Not To Do A Straw Purchase
The Rabbi replied to The Rabbi's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Not a stupid question at all. Depends on whether I had enough info to connect the two. If I thought she were actually buying it for him, then no. If she were good enough to make me think there was no connection then yes. I would have no reason not to. That's why I premised this by saying how stupid criminals are. The "right way" to do that would be for him to come in, look around, ask a couple of questions and leave. Then two days later send in one of his friends with the money in hand, ask the same or similar questions, and buy the gun. It isn't hard to defeat the straw purchase requirement, which is why people who are incapable of doing so are idiots. -
It's a good thing criminals are so dumb. It makes it easier for the rest of us. So I get a call Mon: "Yo, you get any AKs in stock?" No, but I do have a Saiga, it's made on the same action yadda yadda. Tag on it is blah blah. "You cut me a deal, man?" Stand in front of me and put money down and we'll talk (my standard answer to this question from a disembodied voice or pixels on a screen). "Okay, 'cause I'm buying this for my girl. She shoots rifle competitions." Hmm, hokay, whatever. Yesterday (Tues) he shows up with his two friends. Hat slung low over his eyes, literally talking out the side of his mouth. "I talked to you yesterday about the K. I got X dollars(flashes large wad of bills), how about it?" Sure, I'll do it for that. "Okay, I'll get my girl to come in and fill out the papers." Uh, no. You're buying the gun. You fill out the papers. No, man. It's for her. She shoots competition. So she'll come in and fill out the papers, OK? No, not ok. You want the gun, you fill out the paperwork. "I make all the decisions, you know? 'Cause i'm the man around the house." OK, but you'll have to fill out the papers if you want to buy the gun. He leaves with his pals. I get a call 5 minutes later. "Yo, can she come in and buy it now?" Uh, no I dont think so. I think we're done. Click. So his girlfriend shoots rifle competitions and she's gonna do it with a Saiga 7.62x39 rifle? And you guys thought you needed a high dollar bolt in .308 with a scope for that! Personally I think the only competition she was in was prone. On her back.

The Rem 870 is the workhorse of shotguns. You would find that probably 85% of police depts issue either the Remington or the Mossberg 500, and most of those are Remington. Like an AR or a 1911 there are millions of aftermarket mods and parts for the thing. If you get really serious about skeet you will probably end up with something else for a skeet gun. But in the meantime I would second the 870 with 2 barrels approach for economy and utility.

Having a little trouble with your "hard drive" there, Cannon Fodder?? -
What was yr car payment? How many months early did you pay it off? Multiple those two numbers and that's how much you saved. Which can be used to buy guns and ammo, of course. And the guns wont depreciate as much as a car does.
