  1. Good work robtattoo! That's a sharp looking rifle, and a heckuva good price tag.
  2. It's only 1 below this morning! Big improvement from yesterday and the day before, when it was about 28 below air temp. The wind chill was probably closer to IdontknowwhyI'mhere.
  3. See, now you just can't do that. Tease another good story like that, and say you're not going to give us the details... Maybe we should have a story time thread. Only good, wholesome, no longer chargeable fun.
  4. Thanks. I'm still fairly ignorant where these laws are concerned. Frankly, if like a suppressor or three, but I don't want to deal with the extra hassle. I hope we can get HPA or something like it passed soon. Seems to not be very likely though...
  5. Since the mount is the serialized bit, would they be able to provide replacement parts (tube and monocore) or upgrade more easily?
  6. For sure. I really like the aesthetic of this and similar units, and appreciate the value proposition of the Harris and similar. The Magpul bipod might be a decent compromise, but I haven't seen one in person yet.
  7. They always talk about hell being hot. Turns out that's not the case: https://www-m.cnn.com/2019/01/30/us/beer-delivery-midwest-trnd/index.html?r=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cnn.com%2F I was running a couple errands last night, and actually got an ice cream headache from the outside in. It's not as much fun as it sounds...
  8. It's true that this isn't priced near the high end of the market, but I suspect it's still priced higher than most shooters are willing to go. I'd be inclined to spend that money on upgrades to my rifle and optics, or take time and ammo to work on my fundamentals. But, choices are good and this looks like a good option for shooters who are in that part of the market.
  9. "Eat your vegetables. ALL of 'em!"
  10. Haven't you heard? You're supposed to "dress around the gun". He'd be wearing a holster, with built in yoga pants... ERA: I'm sorry for the total hijack of this thread. I've also heard that Seecamp makes a nice small pistol, though I have no direct experience with them.
  11. "Honey, do these pants make my gun look big?"
  12. Since you mention .380, it might be worth a moment to look at the S&W Shield 380EZ. Maybe a bit bigger than your looking for, but on the easier side to manipulate the slide.
  13. That's good to know. Thanks for sharing, your knowledge and your photos!
  14. Oh, wow! Is leucistic a synonym for albino?
  15. While I'm at it, why does the burger on the menu never look like the burger on the table?
  16. How come the toy packaging never shows two or more kids fighting and screaming for the toy? In my experience, that's much more likely than everyone being all smiles and giggles... Anyone have similar thoughts? I'd love to hear them.
  17. And I'm surprised. I didn't think about the possibility that the guy that was described to the sketch artist might be a witness, and the victims just got his role in the shooting wrong. https://www-m.cnn.com/2019/01/06/us/jazmine-barnes-shaun-king-tip/index.html?r=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cnn.com%2F
  18. No way would I take that bet. I would honestly be surprised if they came up with any white folks involved in this crime. But, I try to let our criminal justice system work through its process before I decide who's who and what's what. Sometimes that's hard. I also agree with LINKS2K that the media is in the business of news. While I'd like to think this was only a matter of them reporting what they were (truthfully or otherwise) told, I think there has become a greater desire on the part of the average news organization to be first rather than to be right. That's to our detriment, and completely aside from the exercises in axe grinding which so many media outlets on both ends of the political spectrum participate in these days. Also, I don't think any kind of race war is imminent. There's a lot of friction in our society these days, but people in general are too attached to what they have to risk it, and it would require too much effort from too many people. Which, I suppose, is a good thing in a way...
  19. It's possible that more than one person was involved in perpetrating this crime. (Say, a driver and a shooter. Maybe even one or more additional people along to ID the "target" and give the go-ahead.) So, likely or not, it's still possible that a white guy played some role. I hope everyone who helped carry it out receives the harshest sentence they qualify for.
  20. don't know how long they'll last or if your timeline is flexible, but these are a smoking deal. One fits your stated budget, the other is worth springing for if you're willing and able. https://www.reedssports.com/shop/springfield/springfield-1911-milspec-parkerized-45acp--280169 https://www.reedssports.com/shop/springfield/springfield-1911-loaded-stainless-45acp-5i-304252 Happy New Year, Tom.
  21. Does anyone have any first-hand experience with 1911 parts or pistols from Palmetto State Armory? At least, I think they're into 1911s now...
  22. Rock Island and Citadel are both good values in the sub-house payment part of the market. (They're affiliated companies, but I'm short on details.) If I ever buy another new 1911, one of them would likely be my choice. Probably one from Citadel, as they seem to have features like an ambi safety for a bit less money.
