  1. Awesome! Thank you! Poor dog...
  2. Good Lord willing I'll be there! This looks to be good. Thank you and GTG for providing this opportunity for us.
  3. Looking Great peejman! Canning is every bit as addictive as guns, shooting, and handloading. But I think it's too late to warn you at this point.
  4. I had a Taurus PT-92 9mm I purchased back around 1990. The locking lug sheared off twice...Taurus replaced the barrel both times. I sold it and purchased a Beretta...which I should have purchased the first go around...Live & Learn.
  5. Love my 550. Dillon did a rebuild for mine a couple of years back...practically brand new and it's from 1988. Excellent customer service. I must admit, I've never seen that particular failure...Damn!
  6. Liberalism is definitely a mental disorder. Logic and common sense need not apply...
  7. Good article with some common sense recommendations. I'm pleasantly surprised considering the source.
  8. Is violet close enough? https://www.amazon.com/ASP-55151-Key-Defender-Violet/dp/B001EDL1WI
  9. Good to hear chance R. Thank you. I will forward the info and look into it myself. Appreciate it.
  10. Have you considered an ASP Defender OC unit for her? and yourself as well? I've had one for about 15 years and have run through several of the inert trainers in various training exercises. They serve the Kuboton role readily, make a decent striking tool, and are a darn good OC unit imho. https://www.asp-usa.com/store/defenders-oc/category/61-street-defender https://www.midwayusa.com/product/789389/asp-street-defender-pepper-spray-13-gram-aerosol-aerospace-aluminum-body-includes-key-ring-10-pct-oc-black
  11. Thank you gary_boom. Much obliged.
  12. LOL. I know what you mean peejman. I have carried an ASP in the past without issues in SW MS and SE LA. But once I received this certification I started carrying a flat sap (AKA fixed length baton.) That was about 10 years ago. I do keep a copy of the linked law in my wallet...but the sap would probably be taken if I did something illegal anyway... So..I'm an honest, law abiding citizen that simply wants to have options available to me. My choice and my risk. No issues so far. Monadnock makes an Ayoob inspired D-Jammer that's even sold at Midway USA...might be an option if you are thinking about a kubotan. I see the kuboton as a very niche tool, but I honestly most items covered by this law are. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/640194/monadnock-d-jammer-baton-6-aluminum-with-swivel-key-chain-silver
  13. I know this has been discussed here before. I speaking about Baton Training for certification in order to lawfully be able to carry an impact tool in accordance with TN law. As far as that particular law: TN Law 39-17-1308 subsection/paragraph #9. http://law.justia.com/codes/tennessee/2010/title-39/chapter-17/part-13/39-17-1308 I know it's generally a challenge to coordinate such a class (I did some years back and that particular instructor as since retired). Has anyone here had any experience with training at Tac2? I have a friend or two interested in such training and Tac 2 is offering the class at a reasonable rate. They appear to be located about 1/2 way between Knoxville and Johnson City, so that may well serve the needs as far as location goes. since they live in the Knoxville area. I am hesitant to recommend someone for instruction/training that I don't have knowledge of. The class link is below. Anyone with any first hand experience? Even 2nd hand? http://www.tac2.com/index.php?template=calendar.item.view&recno=115
  14. Wow...we are changing adversaries pretty quickly here. I'd still go with a G 19 because I could have it with me...all the time...wherever I am. But I'd also toss in a Kukri or a good Tomahawk... with dinosaurs and zombies running all over the place I could probably pick up an AR or AK...or two... when the dust settled.
  15. Welcome aboard Marine. Good to have you here. Thank you for your service Huck.
  16. This what I was thinking... I did Google "Chris Carr" and came up wanting... Perhaps this is the interview referred to on ABC's This Week? http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/nra-top-lobbyist-people-orlando-night-club-armed/story?id=39963267
  17. I'm really impressed with it shotgunshooter. It doesn't have the extreme red dot clarity of the T-1, but it's darn close. It boosts the long battery life as does Aimpoint, and I have had it running constantly on a low setting, 3 iirc, for over a year now. I ran it through one of Randy's carbine classes last year on an AK with no issues and it's been exposed to heat, cold and rain and still functions fine. I doubt it would hold up to the rigors of a tour overseas, but it serves my perceived needs well enough I plan to purchase another when finances allow. I am setting up a 10/22 for the missus as linked below. Here's a link for anyone interested in the concept...and it is a niche concept and I accept it's limitations. https://growingupguns.wordpress.com/2014/09/13/the-special-application-22lr-for-home-defense-part-1-weigh-the-evidence-and-make-a-decision/
  18. I appreciate your friend's mindset Ron! Below is something I received from John Farnam some time ago...it remains pertinent. Defender's Creed The Defender's Creed John Farnam I accept and understand that human predators exist. Criminal or terrorist, they take advantage of our civilized society to prey upon the weak. They represent evil and must be confronted and defeated. I believe that self-defense is a moral imperative, and that illegitimate force and illegal violence must be met with righteous indignation and superior violence. I will not rely on others for the security of myself, my family and my community. I proudly proclaim that I run with a like-minded pack. I do not amble through life with the mind-numbed herd. I will train with my chosen weapons, maintain them and carry them in a condition of readiness at all times. I will be mentally prepared and physically equipped to effectively respond to an attack or emergency. I will constantly test myself against realistic standards to discover my strengths and weaknesses. I will turn weakness into strength. I will seek to learn new skills and techniques, and then teach what I have learned to other members of the pack. Be it with firearm or blade, empty hand or blunt object, I will hit my enemies hard, fast and true. I will live a quiet and unobtrusive life, but I will develop and retain the capacity for swift and decisive violence. I recognize that I am the modern equivalent of the traditional Minuteman, and that I may be called to service at any time against heavily armed enemies. I will respond effectively. I accept that I am a pariah among some of my countrymen, and a quaint anachronism to others. I will not hold their ignorance against them. I will win, or die trying. I swear this creed before God, my family and my fellow citizens.
  19. Nice setup Grayfox. I was unaware Ultimak made such. I have one of the Ultimak gas tubes on an AK and it is rock solid!
  20. Well darn GTG! Sorry to hear this. But I think you'll like the Scout Carbine concept. You are welcome to try my Primary Arms Red Dot sight...love that little sucker! http://www.primaryarms.com/primary-arms-advanced-micro-dot-with-push-buttons-and-up-to-50khour-battery-life/p/md-ads/
  21. Good questions Kevin. Primers have a varying degree of hardness. CCI being one of the hardest primers and that means some guns may be challenged at igniting them. I have a 686 S&W that truly struggles with CCI. Federal, then Winchester, in my experience are some of the easiest to ignite. Federal has been my favorite for a long time now...about 30 years. I've no issue with Remington but find their hardness level close to CCI. That said, I've gone through about 20-K of Tula Small pistol primers over the past couple of years and had great success with them. I would caution to stay far away from "lead free" Tula as their ignition rate is deplorable...and they are temp sensitive. I have also had good luck with Wolf and Wolf Magnum primers in 9mm and only noticed a few FPS gain using the Magnum primers. Negligible really. I did contact Wolf and Alliant regarding the use of magnum primers several years ago and received their blessings for my 9mm use...pre-Sandy Hook but during an Obama-scare period. This was for a slightly compressed load of 5.7 grs of Unique under a 124 gr Berry's bullet. The "Match" primers simply have a greater level of QC from what I understand. I've not noticed any difference in any of my chronoed loads by using Match primers. MY Primer preference order for 9mm goes: Federal-Winchester-Tula/Wolf-Remington-CCI...but it's only a personal preference. Others most likely have differing preferences, and probably, experiences. Try a few others out and see what suits you my friend.
  22. The AC is pretty nice isn't it? iirc the "firing line" is at 15 yards. So you could extend a Givens Drill to the 15 yd line: Tom Givens: "B-8 bullseye target at 10 yards, 10 shots in 10 seconds, all in the black." maybe time yourself at 15 seconds. Vicker's run the drill from the low ready, Tom from the holster. Being the deplorable shot I am, I like a 3x5 notecard at 15, but not on the timer. There are some notecards in the metal cabinet near the light and fans controls. Help yourself. I'll put more in there when I'm out there this week.
  23. I even took vacation time to attend this one! Thank you Randy for teaching this class...I hated missing it the first time around! I will have my deposit in the mail Monday and I believe you've been contacted by 2 of my friends.
  24. K, I wish I could join you my friend. Alas...not this time. I have very rarely had anyone show up to shoot while I was sitting the indoor range unless it's was folks I invited out. I usually just go ahead and sit up at the 5-7 yard distance and shoot a few drills. Here is a link to pistol-training that Todd Green set up. My absolute favorite for working sight alignment, trigger control and practice reps is the Dot Torture. ( 3-5-7 yds) I also shoot the FAST Test (7 yards with a timer) while out there. You can read/print the targets and drills from this link: http://pistol-training.com/drills Enjoy your day my friend.
