  1. Thanks. I entered using your link. Good luck to us. :pleased:
  2.     This has been bantered about gun magazines and the internet for some time now.   It's an informed choice on my part as far as carrying my handloads. A justifiable use of force is a justifiable use of force...you'll probably have to hassle a lawsuit no matter what.   I am unaware of anyone actually being convicted of a wrongful death, murder, or manslaughter based on ammunition choice or for using handloads in self defense. . Of course I wouldn't consider carrying a factory round emblazoned with a skull and crossbones on the  box and labeled as DRT (Dead Right There) either.
  3.   I carry 124 grs for 9mm. Although I do like the recoil impulse of the 147 gr loads.
  4. I do a mix. I carry factory loads in my 9mm Glocks...but have some premium components stored back for their replacement. When I purchased my 9mm carry ammo several years back it was markedly less expensive than it is now days.   I carry plated full wadcutters with a sharp ogive in my J frame .38's. They are peppy, but easily controllable and quite accurate.
  5. Thanks for posting this info.   I have had nothing but excellent experiences with the LDS Storehouse here in Knoxville. Great folks and very helpful.   If you folks are in the area of this Open House I can assure you that you will be glad you attended. It can prove to be a valuable learning experience and you will be hard pressed to beat the prices.   Another option is the LDS online service. I have several of the Home Starter Kits stuck back. I'd rather feed a few of my neighbors in a time of disaster than be forced to shoot them. :squint:     LDS Home Starter Kit
  6. AAR A.I.M. 3 Aug 2014     All I can say is Wow! Incredible class and an unbelievable bargain.   Thank you Randy and Thank you GTG for hosting this class.   Thank you also to my fellow students. Great bunch of folks and I feel honored to have been able to train with you guys and gals.   As always I respect and appreciate Randy’s teaching methodology, keen eye, and patience as he guides us through the learning curve. It’s an innate talent as well as a skill. Randy’s depth of subject knowledge content is impressive. We are fortunate to have that resource available to us here on TGO.   I have been learning XS Big Dot sights over the past year. That, in itself, has presented a learning curve for me. But I earned an even greater appreciation for them, and with Randy’s tutelage, a greater appreciation of their use in close range reaction shooting yesterday. But using the methodology and format Randy presented would improve any type of sight system use in managing close range interpersonal confrontations.   Randy’s was able to convey several approaches to the adage of “use the amount of the sights necessary” to get your hits fast and accurately at the appropriate range and in the appropriate situation. I had never been exposed to the “diamond” concept, using the edge of the slide when the gun was tilted at an approximate 45 degree angle while moving rapidly off the “X”. Excellent information and tool for my “tactical toolbox”.   We had a very good turnout. The students ranged from highly seasoned shooters with multiple training classes under their gunblets to novice shooters. All students were given the individual attention they needed while maintaining a smooth flow for the group…not easy for a group this size. And safety was, as always, beyond reproach.   It’s incredible that this quality level of training with the depth and attention to detail was presented to us for only $80.00. I have paid 3 times that, way more than once, and not received the excellence of instruction approaching what Randy provided for us. My hat is off to you Sir.       fwi... great and informative read: LINK:  Dealing With PESTS
  7. LOL. Thank you Jeremy. I can now finally audition for America's Funniest Home Videos. :pleased:   I appreciate it and of course would be interested in seeing it. Good learning tool in all honesty.   Enjoyed shooting with you again Sir.
  8. I'll be at the Suraez Training event that Randy is putting on today, so I just wanted to take a few minutes and say Thanks to all for an excellent match yesterday.   Of note John Suter, Daniel, all the SO's and "Range Mom's" (strange conceptual title imho) and all those involved behind the scene. Also thanks to the sponsors for the prize table. Awesome to see a young lady  junior...via her father...win a handgun in the drawing.   And also a Thanks to Rickey for a fast and darn nifty popup target he let the match use. Good job, and of course Congrats Rickey.   Until next year. :hat:     edit...spelling...
  9. Thanks Sidewinder      I just ordered 1 K of the 55 gr .223. Free shipping with first order? Hard to beat that.
  10. Thank you Erik. No worries good Sir.
  11. My plate is full until the first of the week. But I'll start drafting Campfield an e-mail. Can't hurt and it might at least get us rolling in the right direction.
  12.     I'm good with that Daniel. I never have been much on strategic planning anyway.  :pleased:
  13.   I'm pleased to see a Tennessee made firearm and do look forward to hear someone's first hand experience with them. And of course wish the great success.   I wasn't dissing their product in my earlier posts and hope I didn't come across so.
  14. Yes...it is an ingenious solution to a nonexistent problem.     The COP,back in the day when most peace officers carried .357 revolvers, gave the option of a way too powerful backup gun for it's size. Read as flamethrower. Short of shoving into a waiting receptacle...an orifice...an pulling the trigger one would have been hard pressed to do any precision shooting with the original.   But as a novelty? And a gun used in the Jerry Ahern survival books series? Interesting...the original I mean.
  15. LOL. Excellent post brother! :hat:   I am definitely looking forward to it.
  16.   An impact tool is, imho, an excellent adjunct tool for EDC, even if you do carry a handgun. Not every problem is a "shooting" problem.   Knife Rights was very instrumental in the legislative work regarding the blade issues here in TN. Great organization and much appreciated.     I believe that Georgia was able to remove their restrictions on carrying impact tools and I know that Florida's permit system is a "Weapons" permit system, but I'm not certain as to the place impact tools occupy in it.     Anyone have any suggestions as to who would be the most likely legislator to contact to get the ball rolling on removing theses restrictions?   The knife issue demonstrated that the process is slow, but gives a decent template for change. We might as well get started on this.
  17. It reminds me of the COP. A .357 derringer type pistol with, IIRC a rotating striker device.     Found one for sale actually:   http://www.armslist.com/posts/3152695/missouri-handguns-for-sale--cop-357-magnum-4-barrel-derringer-     But no mootw, I've not heard of this company.
  18.     I'm beginning to think it'll be Monday...     But it does seem like it was the Wednesday before the match last year my friend.
  19.   LOL. I hear ya. :pleased:   My friend, I drove 240 miles round trip every Monday night to train for 4 hours and did that for 2 years. It was worth it to me to train with that particular group...invaluable to me... ymmv   Most of the instructors and or schools are willing to travel to a hosted class with as few as 10 attendees. Maybe that'll be an option for you.   Good luck with your endeavor Sir.
  20. Junkstack   I no longer have contact info for the gentleman that conducted our class. But a Google search under "baton, impact weapon training Tennessee" yielded several options open to civilians.   You may have to drive a bit, or you may be able to host a training class, but the training is available. You just gotta make it happen if you want it. :2cents:
  21. I need to pick up some 1x2's anyway, so I'll certainly bring some.   Yes Sir...I'll be at the ORSA Match Saturday. I'm looking forward to it...good company...good food...and shootin' stuff. What more can a man ask for? :pleased:
  22. I not certain how it is in Chattanooga, but I contacted an instructor in Knoxville that trains various Security contractors (such as for Hospitals, etc) and set up a group training session. That was 7 years ago fwiw... but I would think you'd be able to locate someone without great difficulty.   Good move btw.
  23. I can be there by 0800 if that'll be of any help....certainly earlier if need be. Heck...I'll be up anyway.   I will bring my 3 poppers and 2 steel plates, my 2 tac man targets..and a stapler. Do you need any pre-cut 2x4's?   I believe Brad and Neil will be bringing some portable shade as well.   I know it's already been mentioned...but bring a folding chair folks...you'll be glad you did by day's end.
  24. I think it sounds interesting.   Have you priced bacon lately? That's an expensive prize!
  25. I hadn't considered the steel, but I'll certainly toss the poppers in the back of my truck....   Looking forward to this GTG.
