    My 1919 story

I bought a well used Firebird 1919 about 14-16 months ago. last year about 10 days before the Pro/Am the bolt carrier broke and took a rubber O-ring on the gas piston with it. called Firebird several times over 2 or 3 days, also tried e-mail. as I recall the message said leave name and # and we get back to u in 2 hours. called Tooth & Nail and talked to Matt and he stated he had none in stock but sent me one out of one of his guns and a new gas piston. well the Firebird being a true custom nothing fit. and I guess the O-ring is a firebird thing. I got the bolt carrier wielded locally but welds were a little wide. but with some loving taps with a small hammer I got the forearm on. at the Pro/Am the best I could do was show up for my 1st stage then had quit. just felt too bad. I told Matt at Tooth and Nail I would send him 1919 after the match. well it took me 5 months to ship it. he put his SAS machined lower on it, did some trigger work and put a smaller pistol grip and of course correctly repaired the bolt carrier. Thank you Tooth and Nail! still have not been to a match but hope to fix that this year. also Firebird still has not got back to me.
  3.   thanks, I do hope to make a match or 2 this year.
  4.   I do know the feeling, people just feel sorry for me now :)
  5.  its a little old, but could not stay well enough to shoot last year. I think this was my 1st try since 31 aug 12. no longer have that shotgun. video is a little long    http://3gunnation.com/news/details/artmid/509/articleid/326673/rockcastle-shooting-center-3-gun#.VNlCPzUYEIE.email   I am the guy in the chair
  6. "Hell, the military "standard" would seem to be a lifetime ban."   agreed!
  7.   sorry, I am old it should say "22-24 years ago"
  8. it just what the state checks for. the few years I lived in KY I never ever had any issue. when I checked into getting a federal PIN # the person on the phone was confused why I was asking for one.  and as I stated SBR and suppressors are easy. about 12-14 years ago I was charged federally with a felony, but that's all, and that's as far as it went.
  9. it can be very random, buy 2 or 3 guns (months apart)  then told I can not buy a 22RF. my toy store owner wrote the TIC'S on my behalf. as I recall it was something like, they where training the new personal. that was about 3 years ago. then it stop using my PIN# and all was well and it started again this year. this year I bought 2 lowers and all was well then next time denied, went home called the store with my PIN when went and picked up my pistol. I no longer get upset about it. like said sooo very random. sometimes using my PIN causes long waits because the clerk does not know what to do will it. (just my 2ct) also its easier for me to buy a suppresser etc than a firearm in TN anyway.
  10. I get denied from time to time and do have PIN #, I just appeal and pick up my firearm later. as far as the NFA items they have never been a issue. the state as I recall looks at more items than the fed's. now it does take me about a extra 2 weeks on the NFA items because my finger prints are on the federal data base.

    9mm AR?

it is not a kit, but the wife has CMMG 9mm carbine (not a pistol) that's a ton of fun. with front sight removed and a 15" float tube and a red dot.
  12. it should be around or before feb. it was a huge success.
  13. for what its worth, we have had M & P's since they first came out. before the .40 or Pro was available. we have about only about 8 now. mostly Pro's. with over 50K rounds fired thru the M & P. no issues at all. we have not shot much the last 2 years but have bought a new M & P each  year.  but between the both of the 2 new ones less than 300 rounds total.
  14. I bought a complete upper from PSA last year on sell for a build and did not want there receiver and the barrel nut was not even snug. I never fired the upper as it was so I do not know how it would have shot. just fyi
  15. the Dickson sportsman store has the federal 193'S for $300 a 1000 and the 62 gr for about $40 more
  16. 1st I need to thank everyone for there ideas last year. here is my final fix for a shooting table for me, I hope! its look junky but it is light weight and easy for my wife to break down and carry. despite its looks it is solid and the swivel bipod with the level on the scope takes care of leveling issues. plus it fits in the van without a trailer.
  17. ah, well my fault for not being there. I wanted/needed to go, even took my meds early and still could not sleep. the wife did try to wake me up, but she had no luck till 9am and that's the time we need to leave. it takes her about 45 minutes to get me out of bed. the guns, ammo etc were ready last night.   I am hoping to beat this thing soon.
  18.   no worried about mud, almost got stuck the last time. there was a few spots on the range I had to go around the last time I was there. I have used firebird 1919 I have been wanting to try out, so shotgun reloading is no longer a issue. just mud after the rain on Friday.
  19. we should be there, unless something happens. may not be able to shoot stage 5 though.
  20. the local farmers have always be good to me.
  21. oh ok,   but shooters will understand about team spiffy, just team RWF,   or just have names with no team name
