I've a first and second generation. I've never owned a third generation, but to me, they look as good as any other. I wasn't aware of the recent changes.

I've been going through some old guns I recently acquired, and got to this ancient 1894 Marlin. After some tinkering, cleaning, etc., I decided I wanted to shoot it. Well, the ammunition wouldn't begin to chamber. A quick glance showed that dreaded ring of brass at the back of the chamber.....A case with the head ripped off. I'd like to claim this idea, as it worked great, but it was actually a suggestion from my father. I removed the bolt, and ran a tap of the proper size into the case, just deep enough to get a good bite, and drove it out with a wooden dowel. A tap and die set can be had pretty inexpensively from somewhere like Harbor Freight if you don't happen to have one already. The tap cuts threads into the brass rather than pushing the brass harder and harder into the chamber walls like an easy out or screw would do. I hope this idea might be of some help to someone here if you ever encounter a stuck case.

I admire what Henry tries to do, but so far, every product they've offered has been lacking in some way for me. The closest they've come in building something that interests me is their take on the AR7...the Henry survival rifle. I really can'tsay I have a use for one of those either.

Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Do you still intend to resell it? Nevermind.....I see it in the classifieds.

I'm not a fan of the Goo Goo, but I'd give that a try!

There's something simply magical about that rampant Colt emblem!Be glad the single action revolvers haven't quite reached the fever pitch of the Colt double action revolvers....yet. No kidding....these are the easiest to get your money back out of.

I actually know a guy named Stumpy. Ironically enough, he has a side business of reloading ammunition and selling it to others. Now would you buy reloaded ammo from a guy named Stumpy?

I like them thar o'l timey folding pocket knives! I wasn't aware anyone else here cared for them.

I don't have a milling machine, nor the knowledge to use one, so an 80% lower seems like it would be a pain in the arse to me.

Oh, I understand. It doesn't seem very economical to pay shipping, transfer fees, and a background check on a $50 hunk of aluminum. Maybe you could pick some up a a local gunshow then.
-
You ever ask at your local gun store? Most have them, but rarely have them displayed. I guess because they'd be easy to put in one's pocket and walk out.

As with most other things, wearing a badge makes you exempt I suppose.

Exactly! Nobody ever comes to my house to ticket me for a running vehicle.

I'm listening anytime you'd like to share. If not, that's o.k. as well. My personal experience has been that it is better to formulate and execute a plan to put myself in the position I want to be in, rather than wasting my energy and time worrying about what someone else has.

Sounds like envy to me. If he were broke, how would that improve your life?

Cranking an engine is about as hard on it as anything it goes through. Perhaps we could make stealing a car illegal.
-
Now here's an honest answer.

What steps? I'd be amazed if it weren't still chambered in 303 British. Clean the bore and chamber, get some ammo, and fire away. I've yet to shoot a 303. I think I'd like to.

Assuming you meant to type "spend", I'd say it depends on the gun. Personally, I don't have a limit for the right one.

The 357's bring more money. i'd say $500 would be a fair price. Those are cool little guns, and weren't made for very long.

I can sympathize with you. We have a Black Lab, and he's a "dog of a lifetime". He's every bit as much a part of the family as the kids. He's beginning to show signs of advanced age. My sister in law had a Black Lab named Daisy, oddly enough, and it passed several years ago. She still tears up every time she sees ours. It's hard to describe how attached you can get to them. I've had many different breeds of dogs, but the Labs are special.

If you're like most of us, you'll do something wrong on your first attempt. Don't be discouraged by this. The first one is a learning experience. Don't throw it away. Keep it around to compare your latest work with. This way, you'll see your progress.
