The ones I have are either 40 or 45 grains, and are labeled as Bee for 218 Bee, or Hornet. The Bee labeled bullets are spitzer shaped, and you wouldn't want to load them end to end i a tube magazine, while the Hornet bullets are round or flat tipped like those designed for a 30-30. https://www.sierrabullets.com/products/bullets/rifle.cfm     Sierra makes several Hornet bullets.   There's a gun show in Murfreesboro today. My father gave this to me yesterday. Being the ever active tinkerer he is, he decided to put new handles on this one he found with broken handles. It isn't original by any means, but I thought it turned out quite well.

:shrug: No idea.   I'm just saying that the friction created by stripping a round off the top of a magazine should slow the bolt's forward travel enough to make it a non issue.

Most I've read about were single loaded for slow fire competition rather than magazine fed. Was that the case here?

Anyone here ever experience a slamfire with an AR?   I don't mean a guy who used to work with your cousin heard about one, or you read about one in an internet chatroom, but actually had one happen to you.

I've never weighed a charge of powder for a muzzleloader. As for metallic cartridges, I'll weigh charges and calibrate my powder measure for a baseline, and periodically weigh a charge to ensure nothing has changed.   I find accuracy as good using volume derived charges as weight based charges.

Most any small rifle primer will work fine in my experience. Some will swear by the CCI 41s, and I'm sure they'd work great, but I've never used them.   I do believe the AR was designed to feed rounds from a magazine. I would expect the added force of the bolt when singularly chambering around could increase the unlikely chance of a slamfire.

One. That's all it takes to make one function properly, and most people never use more than one anyway. Anything more would be a waste for most handgun sales, and would only serve to drive up the price.   Extra magazines are available for virtually all current model pistols if one wants to purchase more.

...and 38 Special in a 357 carbine is something virtually no one would object to.
