Anyone know of a place that does Motorcycle restorations?
gregintenn replied to vontar's topic in General Chat
http://www.cyclemos.com/#!__index/restoration,-repair-&-maintenance Maybe a bit far west for you, but Cyclemos in Red Boiling Springs, TN does restorations. Their museum is worth a visit while you're there. At least pick up a copy of their Crash Brown DVD. He was a local celebrity and a heck of a bad example. -
A guy shooting a revolver through a high visibility fence while cuddling Barney. What's wrong with that?

Probably not quite 3 lbs, but I can take a stone and make a passable milspec trigger.

Cleaning guns after shooting corrosive ammo

I don't know about that, but hot water dries faster than cold water, therefore lessening the chance of corrosion from moisture. -
Bp pistol ball in a bp rifle?
gregintenn replied to Pdheald's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
I'm not sure how one would swage a ball. :ugh: It ain't that big a deal to buy another box of balls. -
As monkeylizard said, the State Museum in the basement of the James K. Polk building is free, and well worth seeing. You won't be too far from the Parthenon. It's worth seeing as well. I've not been in the war museum in a long while, but I remember it being interesting as well. I assume Fort Nashboro down by the river survived the flood? If so, you might wander down there and look around. The Country Music Hall of Fame is awesome. I always love looking around and drooling at Gruhen Guitars. It's a business, but more like a museum or shrine if you like vintage guitars.

What movie would you like to see made and Made well?
gregintenn replied to vontar's topic in General Chat
I'd like to see a movie about Bass Reeves. It would be hard to do because not that much is known about him. The Life and Times of Jelly Bryce would be interesting as well. There are good books available about both of these legends if you care to read them. -

We like shooting pool or bowling. She might not be a redneck, however. -
Bp pistol ball in a bp rifle?

I too think a pure lead ball, aside from being the devil to get started, would lead the crap out of your barrel at rifle velocities. They've been doing it for over 200 years; just use a .430 ball and patch. -
Oopsie ... Smokeless Instead of Black Powder

I wish morons like this had chronographs. I'd love to know how fast that bullet was going. (eidt) I see mikegideon's program shows 3756 fps. While that's smoking, it's not as impressive as I would have hoped. -
It is the same reason those guys drive heavy duty diesel trucks. They're making up for inadequacies in other areas. As far as selling them after deer season, I used to supplement my income by purchasing these steeply discounted rifles, shuffling them, and selling them back to basically the same guys right before the next year's deer season. It seems that the internet has taken the fun, and most of the profit out of that venture. I also learned that might not be totally legal.

I have a couple that work great. Sadly, they're nearly 100 years old.

I've had good luck with interstate batteries. Oddly enough, I've never gotten a bad battery from Walmart either. I'm with the other guys; you may have vehicle problems; not a luck or battery problem. Did all of this happen with the same car, or several different ones?

That sure is a good looking rifle the guy is posing with!

I'm thinking I read or heard recently about a scholarship in Michael Brown's name. WTF??!!!??!? :stare:

Wanna hear about a law that makes no sense?

How does he get to and from work? I'm not sure people who've never lived out in the sticks realize what a vital part of everyday life transportation is for those of us who choose to. -
22 magnum is my unicorn.

At this moment, I own 4 black vehicles; purely by coincidence.

I don't recall saying my kid wouldn't do anything. I was an idiot as a teenager, and I'd be a fool to not expect the same from my offspring. All we can do is buy insurance, teach them what they need to know, and keep an eye on them to a certain extent. They have to grow up, learn to make decisions, and learn about consequences. As far as I'm concerned, I got into just as much crap with one buddy as I did with a carload. I can't see, for example. two teenage couples going on a double date in one car being more of a threat to public safety than if they went in two cars. It seems that personal responsibility is an outdated concept. -

Living in a rural area is quite different from living in town. We have to drive quite a distance to get much of anywhere. Although gas is cheaper, it is still a consideration for a teenage boy. As far as the racing, I can't say what these boys would do, I was referring back to personal experience. I guess my gripe is that I don't need the state of Tennessee to perform my parental duties for me. -
Ya snooze ya loose! Story of my life.
