I would suggest a TWRA hunter safety education course. It teaches the very basics of firearm operation, as well as firearm safety. It is also FREE if I remember correctly.

I'd urge you to spend a few extra bucks and buy a Liberty safe.   Compare one to the Winchester and Canon and you'll see why.

Most any dies will work fine. I like Lee dies. I would suggest paying the few extra bucks for dies with a carbide sizing button. Then you won't need to lube your cases.   The first thing you should buy is a good reloading manual. Read it. It will answer many of your questions.   Then, as you have specific questions, we will be happy to help.

Try a soft lead hollow base wadcutter in it. The hollow bases, in theory, obturate to fit the throats and barrel.

Today's gunshow atendee isn't the same as a few years ago. For the most part, I do not like the change, and haven't been to a show in quite a while. I'm not saying I'll never go to another one, but I'm not going to all of them within driving distance like I used to.

A Williams or Skinner Peep Sight is the way to go in my opinion. The main allure of a lever is that it's easy to carry, and a scope negates that.

Commercial bullet manufacturers have elaborate ballistic labratories staffed with high quality engineers. They do not produce certain size bullets for certain calibers just by chance or guess.

I have a Model 14 American Classic Savage, and I've only shot it a couple of times, I believe it will produce good accuracy with a bit of load development. I think it's prettier than the run of the mill Savage too. Mine is chambered in 250-3000, but I would expect good accuracy from a 308 as well.

I live out in the country, and shoot here as well. I find it inconvenient to go to the store and buy ammo or reloading components each time I want to shoot a gun. Local stores often do not carry most of the calibers I shoot anyway. I find it economical to be "stocked up" at all times. When something I use becomes low, I'll make one trip to the store, or online order to restock several things.

The model 18 is aptly named "Combat Masterpiece". :D

I'd look for an old Colt Woodsman, or High Standard model to your liking. Maybe an HD Military. You just can't find that quality in a new gun. They will also appreciate in value over time.   If you aren't opposed to a revolver, I can highly recommend a model 18 Smith and Wesson.
